  1. I've got a RX 580 XFX GTS Black Core edition (the one that is advertised as 1405 MHz) and I absolutely love it for 1080 gaming. I have it overclocked to 1465 MHz and it does so without complaint. https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-1425MHz-Graphics-RX-580P8DBD6/dp/B071CD6K6Z here's the one
  2. You'd most likely see a lot more stuttering and possibly some screen tearing, just because your CPU is so outclassed by your GPU. I'd recommend that you just refresh your build, i.e. new CPU, mobo, and RAM.
  3. Well it's definitely not fun dealing with it. Glad that you don't have to deal with it too much.
  4. You've got a good point, I didn't think about it like that. I should be grateful for not having to replace a mobo.
  5. So today I decided to buy a liquid cooler and in my haste for better temps I forgot the crucial bit of running my PC for a few minutes before swapping coolers. So when it came time to remove my old wraith stealth I noticed it wasn't wanting to come off very easily like it should have, but the back plate had already come off so I just gave it a decent tug and then when I took a look at the bottom...golden pins. DAMN PGA! I tried just pushing on the corners...no luck. I tried getting a scraping tool underneath...nope. So then I went to trusty Youtube, everyone was recommending rubbing alcohol and dental floss. I put rubbing alcohol around the edges and tried using thread instead of floss and that didn't work. At this point I was getting pretty desperate so I resorted to pushing on the edges again and Bam! It broke loose, but not before my sausage-esque thumb had something to say about it. Three rows of pins were bent before I even knew it came loose. I then proceeded to spend the next two hours painstakingly bending each pin back into position. After that disaster was averted I then proceeded with the installation of my AIO as if nothing had happened. I must have done something right because here I am typing this out on my now liquid cooled CPU. TL;DR: I forgot to warm up my thermal paste before swapping cooling blocks, resulting in bent pins and panic.
  6. This is my first build so I'm gonna try the easiest option (to me) first. I'm probably gonna upgrade the cooler and see if I get anywhere with that. Thanks for all the replies guys!
  7. Hey guys, I was doing some encoding the other day and noticed that my Ryzen 5 2600 was only boosting up to 3.7 GHz instead of the advertised 3.9 and was pinned at 100%. I'm currently running the stock wraith stealth cooler, and I'm wondering if that is all I can realistically expect as far as thermal headroom goes. Other possibly related specs: X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming, Corsair LPX Vengence 2400MHz. Thanks for any and all input.
  8. I just bought a RX 580 8GB and I must say that at 1080p it does an excellent job. Also you should definitely check out some of the Factory OC'ed versions.
  9. I just finished my build a few weeks ago, I have very similar specs https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PvQrw6 The R5 2600 and RX 580 compliment each other very well, especially at 1080p. You've got a good looking build there, but, like other have said I would recommend a better PSU.
  10. Oh, I thought you were talking about a 1080 ti and I was getting excited. Ok, Thanks
  11. Where is that deal being offered? Also noise really isn't an issue, I live under a very large international flight path, the extra noise will probably help.
  12. I love the Cherry MX Blue switch, the sound and the crisp feeling are what does it for me. I can't stand anything that is too mushy feeling even if it has better actuation, the reassuring clicks are what I live for!
  13. Best Buy has a deal for $349 right now that's pretty hard to beat. But Fry's which is a bit closer has a deal on some 3rd party for around $409. would the difference be worth it? Ok, noted. Thank you.
  14. I'm down to the last part of my build and I'm currently thinking of getting a reference GTX 1070. Have any of you had any experience with it? and how has it performed compared to others? Also what sort of overclocking capabilities can I expect? Any and all feedback is appreciated.
  15. I have been playing Arma 3 with an i5 6300HQ for probably 2 years now. The optimization is absolute crap, but try changing the distance settings, that's where I've seen the most improvement. Also i found this https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=385577681 Might be useful but idk.
