    Because they work.

Thank you for your input Lucas. Yes, I am aware all 2018 models come with 6 cores.
You are right to say some people need to be shown the i9 isn't a good option for the average or heavy consumer. The only way I could say anything further is if we go into "Controlling the media" and enforcing responsibilities of reviewers on a "free" platform. I do not think this is possible in our situation without major corporate intervention, and even then the problem gets more philosophical.

Avoid the keyboard problem by getting a 2018 model, or an older one pre butterfly key(board) design (a friend of mine has happily owned his for many years)

All around I think you have a very solid point.
Corporations have their responsibilities, and the consumers have theirs.

Problem is that reviewers always get the highest end model to review.
In this case, that top end model shouldn't have existed because clearly it's not designed to run at full load.

Units named after scientists are spelled by capitalizing their first letters, regardless of whether they're preceded by a prefix. So it's GHz, not Ghz.

    This is terrifying.
I feel a full implementation of this right now would push the dividing line between creative little humans and those who are good at being in a hierarchy of following instructions too drastically, too quickly. The level of technology that is required to implement machines grading creativity is far from being within reach. It's like saying we already have general AI.

Yeah, that's what they claim, but it's bullshit. Even Google's voice-assistant still struggles to follow a three-sentence "conversation", and Google has a LOT more money and hardware to throw at researching such things than some education-market company.

Why do you feel that way. At least for pure language classes I think it makes sense. You can tell a computer what correct grammar, conjugation, sentence structures and other factors look like. The actual content doesn't really matter too much.

An algorithm does not read. It looks for things that some human has decided correlate, on average, with "good" writing. Someone told it to count words, because in general better essays have more words. Same for other charactics it looks for. Couple that with writing methods that teach those things. It's all bogus.
But doesn't anyone remember the urban legend of the professors who threw essays up the stairs? this is the same thing.

Just what we need. More tests that sort for gaming the system, rather than sorting for actual skills.

Hello people, I thought maybe it was time to start a build log for this puppy, after I've held off doing much with it (for various reasons) for an embarrassingly long time.

I originally received the MBX MKII in December of 2016. For various reasons it was stuck in storage for a long time though, and I only finished building a basic build in it in October last year. But rather than dwell on the past, I'm focusing on now - I have a lot of time, and I've mostly sorted out my things here after a recent move. So now we're building, albeit somewhat in steps. For one, I'm still working to afford a few more watercooling parts before I put it under water.

Before we move to pictures, let's throw in the specs:
    CPU: Intel i7 5820k
    Mobo: Asus Sabertooth X99
    RAM: 32GB (4x8GB) G.Skill Value 2400MHz C15
    GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 FTW
    PSU: EVGA Supernova G3 750w
    SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 1TB
    HDD: WD Green 3TB

    Update: The build is done!

Now this build isn't complete, far from it even, so please be patient with me.
