Aprilfooldude got a reaction from williamcll in The PROBLEM with 5G...
Millimeter wave APs will have to get so incredibly close together, it's almost impractical to have them in singular locations, instead of a web. The mid and lower band 5G will have to do, as it IS an improvement but will substitute until Millimeter wave can get condensed enough across the globe.

Aprilfooldude got a reaction from Radium_Angel in Moving large files + Intel Optane = disaster?
The Optane algorithms are most likely trying to cycle the files through the drive, but then realizing that they are in use, so it reads it from the drive while it is writing, instead of writing directly to the optane module. It's a caching issue from the sound of it.

Check your case dimensions and reference the cooler specifications if you do plan on getting a new cooler

Aprilfooldude got a reaction from TurboGraffix64 in Recommended GPUs for CPU/MOBO/RAM
A 1060 should be just fine, but anything above that may be too much for the CPU to push.

Aprilfooldude got a reaction from Vinnie51 in Intel I7 9700 (non k)
You can't overclock without a K chip, so as long as you don't live in an excessively hot place or have a PC case with starved airflow, you should be just fine with the chip, although a Hyper 212 might improve your results.

Intel's stock coolers have never really been all that great. A $30-$40 cooler like the Arctic Freezer 34 will do wonders.

Imagine Linus seeing this and making an entire PC out of mobile parts converted into a desktop, yknow with the 4720HQ, and then there's this...

Found this YouTube suggested video from a guy who bought a 965m DESKTOP VERSION, I thought it was a scam but it seems like it is legit! Here's the video:

Go for some nice noctua fans, thank me later.

Aprilfooldude got a reaction from kingknightrider in This is going to sound stupid...
This is the DUMBEST question I've ever asked on here, but can any of you reccommend LOUD fans to me, that somewhat function correctly.
They do need to be 120/140mm fans, but there's just something about having a loud PC that screams power to me.
(of course they will need to be quiet if I choose to do so while providing adequate thermals)

Aprilfooldude got a reaction from ljeo332 in Looking to set up old PC to home server
FreeNAS, you should have lots of settings and I believe there are many good tutorials for setting the system up, although this isn't my cup of tea so I can't say which is the best.

Aprilfooldude reacted to TheStyne in Asus Z370-E Motherboard HDMI Port Issue
See how you've got two tabs sticking into it in the top? Tose are supposed to go beside the port, not inside it. You need to take your motherboard out and make sure the tabs are out of the port.

Aprilfooldude got a reaction from Thureos in Samsung SM961 1TB M.2 NVMe or 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 sata III?
SATA based drives will be slower, it's a no brainer to go with the NVMe variant.

Aprilfooldude reacted to airdeano in Can you test a motherboard without a cpu?
nope. the basic function of POST needs a CPU/RAM and some sort of display adapter.

Aprilfooldude reacted to Lurick in can i7 works in x299
How are you going to fit a CPU that has 1151 pads for 1151 pins into a socket with 2066 pins that's a much larger size?
You might as well try to put a Ryzen CPU into an x299 board, it's about the same result.

Aprilfooldude got a reaction from Crunchy Dragon in Removing the google search bar
You should be able to just tap, hold and drag to the x that pops up on screen, or just go into the settings and disable it.

Aprilfooldude reacted to TheGlenlivet in Old system new GPU or New system??
Before the new 6 and 8 core CPUs came out I would have said save your money but now, if you have a game or workflow that maxes your CPU, you will see the benefits of a new system.
