  1. But now you have bigger problem. As you said - you THOUGHT that it was a virus, but you never try to investigate it to be sure. And what risk it really was? Since you format everything, you had no sensitive data on your computer anyway. I would be devastated if I had to format my drive and lost data. I'm just saying - next time try to fix your real problem. Format and reinstall is a crappy workaround - if that was not a virus, you'll end with the same system behaviour (because you'll be using the same software the same way).
  2. All I can say that you had good working computer and now you have nice looking pc case. That is what happens when someone tries to made system more "clean" and trying to reinstall system without need. If I may recommend something - start using your computer. If you have multiple drives and you format them all (as you said), that means you don't really need computer, because you have no any important data on it. Next time spend your time by making something interesting on your PC instead of boring, unnecessary reinstallation of your system.
  3. That's very cool. They probably don't care so much. It's like "hey, it's much easier for us to activate system for this poor guy that arguing, which would waste of our time". It still doesn't mean that your Windows is legal, it just means that is activated. It's like you stole candy bar from shop and go to police after 5 years - they'll probably say something like "it's ok man, no one reported it to us, so it's yours, enjoy your meal". You're still a thief - just one who isn't worth someone else time, because an hour of a policeman's work is worth more than a candy bar. In case someone will really check your key and system, good luck with arguing "hey, someone from Microsoft says it's ok and actiates my system!" ("Who? Do you have any proof?").
  4. For all that people who recommends buying cheap Windows key from grey market... I remember once some of Microsoft emoloyee said that is even better (still bad, but better) to download pirated version of Windows than buying from black/grey market key. Why? Well, at least you don't pay thieves and schemers money for product that they are not allowed to sell. So basically you don't "only" used pirated version of Windows, but also pay for it and support grey market. There are only two valid solutions - be a man and decide - are you pirate or not. If yes - do not pay for it (like real pirate do not pay for his wooden leg or parrot). If not - buy your copy of Microsoft Windows from official reseller. Remember - info that product is activated doesn't mean is legal. Is just activated, Microsoft doesn't care so much about it. If they want to check is your copy legal, they for sure will not check info from your control panel. That info in control panel only means that Windows is activated (whatever that means). It may help you to be sure that legal key is installed proper. Microsoft some time ago stops block users from activating and updating Windows because it's safer that way for everyone - more people have updates installed means less infected internet. But activated don't means legal. It's like a car - you can buy it from some shady person, register it and even get official confirmation, but if police discovers later that your car was stolen, you will lost it. No matter how good papers do you have - it's simply not your car. So buying grey market key, even if it works, is worse than downloading pirated activator. Your Windows will work, for sure (the same as when you're using activator), everything will work except... it will not be legal. So if you want your watermark gone - buy legal version or not buy anything at all and use dark path of being scarry pirate. Your choice.
  5. Still, it's a computer, not a vacuum. You don't need that much airflow imo. It's air after all, not some liquid that you must push out of your case using high pressure.

You can always make a drone out of it.
  7. It was strange behaviour of additional Windows folder protection. And since it's very deep hidden and there is no clear info about it, I must spend really lot of time to find the source of a problem. Thank you for your tries, really, but as I said - I only need advice if someone has the same problem and solve it. I do not need assistance. For curiosity - "problem with finding file" was when I was trying to SAVE file. Nice, right? Thanx!
  8. My friend recently update his laptop to win11. And I discover some strange, very strange problem with his system. Problem is with c:\users\Public\Documents folder. No matter how I set permissions, (including disable iheritance) I cannot create folder inside using command prompt. That means all other programs installers who need access to that folder have problems too. And no matter if I'm using command prompt as admin or not. Even icacls reset can't work. There is no info about bad permissions or anything like that. It display info about problem with finding file! I have access to everyone, ownership is proper (I tried many things) and nothing works really. But - what is more important - I can copy everything, create folders etc. using NORMAL Explorer (without even administrator elevation). I can list files, copy files from inside - basically everything, but only using Explorer. I can't save even file from notepad to Public\Documents, even if folder has full permissions for System, Administrators, specific user, everyone and all users. If anyone has that type of problem and know where problem is - I'll be happy for a hint. What I don't need (I want to clarify that) is any type of "please try..." advices. I don't want to try anything, I want to solution from a person who have the same problem and find source of that problem. Real solution (not like "reinstall..." etc.). Thanks.
  9. It's not stupid at all. It's very good way of buying computer for lower cost - not everything in the same time. So now you'll have good graphics card, then you may buy rest of stuff. And because PCI-E is backward compatibile, you should not have any problem. You may lose a lot or almost nothing - all depends on program, game etc. Sure, your card will not perform as good as paired with new i9 cpu, but all you should consider should be "will I be happy". And answer for that depends on you - if you're a person who always complain and compare to others, then probably you'll not be happy. If you just want to improve your PC and want to continue doing it from time to time replacing various parts and stop asking "should I...", then yes - you'll be happy.
  10. This code (it's not mine) supposed to be timezone independent, that is getTimezoneOffset for. EDIT: Finally I found my friend online who lives in different timezone and he confirm that it working (shows my time instead of his).
  11. But that "unlink" mode works for different pairs, not different sticks. So place for test in B1+B2 (or A1+A2) slots.
  12. Try use "unlink" mode in advanced dram configuration. They are different and will not work in dual anyway. And then place them in B1 + B2 for test.
  13. It supposed to show WRONG time. I mean - it supposed to show MY time (UTC+2). If you're living in US for example, this should show you 10:00 right now, not your time.
  14. Hi everyone (after long time of inactivity, just for one more post) I need small help from someone that lives in different timezone than mine (I'm from Europe, UTC+2). If anyone can tell me if the time displayed here: http://www.thrash.pl/helptime.html is the same as your time. If you're living outside Europe, you should see different time and that is what I want to achieve (to show my local time for everyone, no matter what timezone someone lives). But I can't test it myself. I know how to do it in php (that's easy), but if I am not so good in js.
  15. Ok, I think it's enough. This forum should be renamed to live p2p chat. Week after week the same questions, the same answers and it's start to be boring. I understand that this forum have no rule about repeating topics, but I can't understand why. IMO if someone is too lazy to at least try to use search buttons, other people should be too lazy to answer. Was nice to help from time to time, but I think I'll stay with watching LTT videos. At least they're still interesting.
  16. ...or you can use some nice tools that helps you take ownership or even delete folders without any problem. It all depends how much imporant files you have on your old drive. If you change SSD to bigger one, you may just clone your existing installation and then format old drive, and you'll keep everything.
  17. Because you must change boot mode in bios from uefi to legacy. You can boot any Windows version (from xp) on any machine if you know how. And sometimes if you have tools like Paragon Adaptive Restore to adjust os (in case bsod). But basic knowledge is always required.
  18. After I read some answers here, I think we probably don't getting what OP mean.
  19. You can just plug and boot. And it's easiest thing you can do - just try! Faster than asking questions here.
  20. I heard that Microsoft removes classic system window because they trying to migrate everything into new control panel. Read changelog somewhere on internet about new version of Win. This may be just related to your problem. Maybe some bug in that update, who knows. You have many methods to do the same task in Windows.
  21. Microsoft says something different but hey - even moderator on this forum knows better, so maybe now is the time to write to Microsoft and ask them when they change their website and write information about free system.
  22. It works great, is free so it's good.
  23. Like MANY others topics on this forum, this time answer will be the same - Macrium Reflect.

    'format'

You can format part of your drive or whole drive. This is pointless anyway - that's why people using quick format, which do basically nothing except settings few parameters. If you mean full formatting like preparing all drive sectors for work, it's not necessary - they will work the same no matter if you format them or not.
  25. You need to install http server for that. Easiest to configure is Fenix (probably). link But it do not show your windows shared files. You must prepare separate shared folders.
