If you can install the apps and make changes with a few commands and not have to interact with the screen (selecting options, etc) then it should be pretty straight forward. 
 

i'd say screw it put the chip in a bench vice ( clean it first and put a paper towel around the cpu ) and clamp it flat and throw some supey glue at that sucker worth a try.

Then maybe reset CMOS?  Everytime stuff like this happens to me, some jiggling and a quick CMOS reset seems to do the trick.

I just told someone else to try this 
pull out all the ram put it back in one by one then test it
if its still crashing unplug all power cables inside the machine and plug them in and double check them
if that wont work try removing the graphics card and re seating it
if that doesnt work try cpu etc.

did you use xmp to get it up to the 3200mhz?
 

Thanks for the reply tower pc ideally so I have the option of upgrades the the future but not essential. 
 

I could be wrong but I think pads would hold the heat sink better, especially if the motherboard will be positioned vertically. 

You should consider doing some chapter division on your text, such a wall of text is not pleasant to read!

EDIT: It might work for a couple of days and then it will not work again, so I might bump this again in a few days (that's what happened the first time)

Airflow has nothing to do with that temperatures. You can add 10 fans and you'll end with the same results.
First - heat from CPU is given away by radiator. Then heat from radiator is blow out by fan. These two parts are most important and if you have temperatures that high, your radiator is probably mounted bad.
 

At 1080p the chip is around if not faster than an FX chip. The big thing id strive for is the fastest you with 3-4gb of vram given how many games are eating vram. 
I’m seeing 280x and 380 going for around 50-60. 
just watch and try to snipe bids on eBay.

Should be able to fetch a hd 7950 or hd 7970. 
 
At these lower pricepoints you are much better of picking up an older GCN card.

this board is 8 years old. have you updated the bios on it becuase it's had several if not most ALL the updates are related to system stability

Not yet. Check if its still installed like it should be. I dont know what you use. But Stock Coolers for example can lose hold on the CPU if you move Hardware. Tiny amount of space is enough and the CPU temps go  up. Takes around 5 Minutes and Bam. PC shuts down to prefent CPU damage. Or it Just freezes.
