  1. I was really sad about not having a shroud I saw the H440 when it came out and it made me cry a little knowing my build would never look that clean. I dont have the skills to make one myself... =/
  2. I had a run originally behind the mobo area and it was just a pain. It looked good but doing work on the loop was awful. It is way easier to disassemble this way. I also had red lighting in there but it was way too bright it looked bad. Next build i do im going to get some soft white lighting.
  3. I dont know what the part numbers are for the rads, they were free with the GPU when I bought it. the SSDs i just velcroed to the back of the mobo area they are all Corsair SP120 fans, front intake and rear fan are the stock fans that come with the case I have seen dual reservoirs in several 900D builds, i would think you would want smaller ones the PSU cabling i got direct from the Corsair website all parts? or just the WC loop parts? A lot of this is last gen so it will be cheap used now, way less then what i payed. A lot of it I even got used or open box from Newegg. You can google all the PC components, the WC stuff was as follows: 45degree fittings - $16.99 each (2x) 90degree fittings - $18.99 each (1x) tubing - $2.75/foot standard fittings - $11.99 each (6x) Phobya DC12-260 pump + 2x fittings - $69.97 EK MultiOption RES X3 250 +2x fittings - $76.97 Silver - $6.99
  4. First Build Log Post! So I've had this guy for a while but he is finally finished how I like (for now, until I do a full overhaul haha). Specs are Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero CPU: Intel i5 4670k @ 4.2GHz Memory: HyperX Fury Black 16GB GPU: EVGA GTX 780 Classified @ 1320MHz // 7300MHz Main Storage: 2x Samsung 840 EVO in RAID0 Mass Storage: 2x Seagate 2TB HDD in RAID0 PSU: Corsair RM1000 Originally I had a ASRock Z87 Fatal1ty Killer, swapped that out. Also originally had an EVGA 650G PSU, swapped that out. Originally had 4x2GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (in these pics), swapped that out. All the images here were taken during my last cleanout of the WC loop. It has dual 480mm rads running. It also has a whopping total of 18 fans in it, and yet runs very quiet! They are all running super low. I have 2x NZXT GRID+ and well as 1x GRID running as fan control through the NZXT CAM software, which is very nice. I originally was going to use Corsair Link, but found the software to be pretty awful to figure out. CAM software is awesome. Looks a little like surgery with all the paper towels you need with a customer WC loop. Giant ass case makes this mobo look so small Did a custom paint on the PSU These two RADs were free when I got the 780 and waterblock, they're pretty beaten up but who cares! These angle fittings were unfortunately an afterthought. Makes a HUGE difference, too bad they are twice the $$ as the regular fittings.
  5. Would love to get this for an HTPC setup. Just got a couchmaster!
  6. does mining really cause that much wear on a card? I mean he is looking at an Asus DCU2 card, so it should be a solid card and have been cooled reasonably well.
  7. ive gotten used parts before, always had a good experience even off eBay. But i have never bought anything that i was 90% sure had been in a mining rig.
  8. So my friend is looking to build a new system soon. He is looking at an Nvidia 760 for his graphics card, but looking through eBay he is seeing all the super cheap 280x's (likely from ex-miners) being unloaded for butt cheap. A 760 will run him about $200-$250 (depends where he buys, sales/promos). A 280x on eBay, which is a way better card, will run him typically ~$200. Now obviously a lot of these cards are being unloaded by miners, but is that really all that bad? Wont the cards still perform reasonably well. And a lot of them are still under warranty (or at least according to the listings they are...), so if something went really bad he could get a new one. I am a pretty Nvidia-favored person, so my advice to him was get the 760. But is the 280x at this price really worth it? Thanks!
  9. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130772&cm_re=gaming_3_z97-_-13-130-772-_-Product He wants something nice-ish that will last a while
  10. Would it be worth it to spring the extra $100 or so for an i5?
  11. Looking for a bit of input here. My friend is looking to build a PC. We is currently trying to decide on what CPU he is going to get (rest of the build is pretty much settled). Option 1 is to get the i3-4330, decent dual-core with hyperthreading at 3.5GHz. Option 2 is to get the new unlocked Pentium G3285, unlocked dual ore with no hyperthreading. As far as I know, most games dont take use of more then two cores typically, so Im thinking it makes more sense to get the Pentium and clock it up. Anyone know if hypertheading for those two virtual cores will help? Thank you!
  12. I always recommend the EVGA Classified. The cooling is great, the whole damn card is custom design, EVGA has great warranty and support, they are designed for crazy overclocking. Classifieds (with the voltage tool) have totally unlocked voltage which makes them the best in my opinion for overclocking, especially if you're thinking of going to water at any point. I have mine running at 1.4V and at over 1350MHz and its smooth as butter. Defiantly the Classified.
  13. I currently am running a 23" 1080p monitor in portrait as a secondary (usually with afterburner and the classified voltage controller on it) and its nice. I would swap the 24" as a secondary and use the new one as a main. Thanks for the input on switching displays though that was my real concern, im worried swicthing from 24" 16:10 to 27" 16:9 will feel odd.
  14. My only problem is that's still a ~24" screen, I would like to go up in screen size and resolution (27" - 30"). Thanks though!
