It took about 4900 hours for it to be noticeable on my B9 and it was the Chrome header that burnt in.
After that I used it only for gaming and it did not get worse.
I am replacing it with a C1 this week and it will go back to doing what caused the burn in in the first place and it will be replaced next year with a C2.

Time will tell how much longer these newer OLEDs will last but I would be happy with 5 years.

    5GHz 1.27V is a really solid CPU.

Realistically, you won't notice the difference, but at the same time, I would probably do that. There's not much harm in running a 9900K at 95C in Prime95, so I'd probably aim for 5.1GHz core 4.7GHz cache 1.36-1.4V if you can cool it, just for the benchmarks.

ProArt monitors would be very convincing, just a shame about the 60hz limit. There's a 144hz variant one which is more than the minimum I'd settle for but it's 4x as much as the other 2 monitors I just found. But your suggestion is good, I could go with double 4k or a 4k and one rotated as a second monitor.

I also gotta remember that I need a monitor arm as well. I've been told not to trust cheap £70 amazon ones, that I should go for arms that cost £150-£300 so that I wouldn't regret my decision to save money in the short-term and have to fiddle with the arm every other day if it's cheap. How the HM Ollin monitor arm like? Seems well build for £200.

jones177 got a reaction from BiG StroOnZ in 3080 ti vs 3090
I have both and it depends on the version.

For example my EVGA XC3 Ultra is about 6 to 10 frames down on my EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti at 4k.
I compare at 4k since it is all GPU 90% of the time.
Here is Horizon Zero Dawn bench at 4k ultra.

    EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 ti      = 83fps
    EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti    =89fps
    MSI Gaming X Trio 3080 ti   =89fps
    MSI Gaming X Trio 3090      =89fps
    EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3090 ti    =98fps

So my MSI Gaming X Trio 3090 performs about the same as a high end 3080 ti
A Suprim, Strix or FTW 3 3090 will do better than the Gaming X Trio but not by much.

After I do the things mentioned above:
I use HWiNFO64 to check to see if the cooling solution is working properly.
I then run benches and take screen shots.  I check on line to see if is underperforming well. I usually do this with Time Spy and Cinebench.

The screen shot are used to spot changes in the system later on or post here to help others.

jones177 got a reaction from Catscratch in Is this score good for my GPU (Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 4GB)
The setup is used most on line so it is easier to compare.
Widowed mode is mainly used for overclocking. Full screen is faster.
It is so fast that with my 3090 ti exceeds the bandwidth of my HDMI 2.1 cable using these settings. It is fine at 1440p and 4k.

The is my GTX 980 before I sold it last year. My i7 8086k is faster than the 3600x but my 980 is slower than the RX580.
I think the OPs score is on the money with those settings in windowed mode.

jones177 got a reaction from Mister Woof in What's better then 10700K
In some games my i9 9900k(runs about the same as an i7 1700k) can keep up with my newer CPUs but in others it is destroyed since the games use more cores or benefit from higher IPC and cache.

It is also what GPU you use.
My i9 9900k did about the same frames as my 5800x when both used a RTX 2080 tis but with a 3080 ti the 5800x pulled away.

Looked like this with Shadow of the Tomb Raider(Highest Preset TAA).

    With a RTX 2080 ti.

    SOTTR        1080p      1440p        4k
    i9 9900k      168fps      123fps      67fps
    5800x          160fps      122fps      73fps

    With a 3080 ti
    SOTTR        1080p      14400p        4k
    i9 9900k      169fps      154fps      96fps
    i9 11900k    182fps      162fps      97fps
    5800x          198fps      163fps      96fps

This game is CPU bound at 1080p so the 3080 ti can't produce any more frames with the i9 9900k. At 1440p it does better and at 4k it is all GPU.

The game also uses cores so this what it looks like with a 10 and 12 core CPU also with a 3080 ti.

    SOTTR        1080p      14400p        4k
    i9 10900kf    189fps      164fps      97fps
    5900x           211fps      175fps      104fps

SOTTR is an extreme. With other games the gaps are far less.

jones177 reacted to e22big in Panasonic set to release 42 inch OLED with heatsink this year.
Just saw this information from HDTV Test today. The Panasonic is set to be releasing several OLED TV with LG OLED EX (high-end panel with with heatsink), and one of those are the 42 inch LZ1500 which set to release later this year.

The differences between heatsink and no heatsink OLED is MASSIVE. If we look at LG line up as an example, the 42 inch C2 saw an incremetal improvement over their older OLED when it comes to brightness but the flagship G2 (which does not come in the smaller size) which use this same EX panel with heat sink can get almost as bright as QD-OLED in full screen brightness and even exceed them in smaller highlight.

It could be a very viable alternative to Alienware QD-OLED and to my knowledge, is the only 42 inch that came equip with this type of panel. Both C2 and Sony A90K doesn't come with this spec (as far as I knew in Sony case anyway, or if it does, it doesn't get very bright like other heatsink OLED)

jones177 reacted to e22big in Looking to get a 4k monitor.
NIS didn't cause it, it will just upscale yours to any native resolution of the monitor (when selecting a native resolution), the problem is OLED TV (most TV actually) does offer a dual native resolution of both 4096 x 2160 and 3860 x 2160. Apparently some film do make use of that 'true 4k' resolution but NIS can and often will pick up 4096 x 2160 as native even when you designated your resolution to 3860 x 2160 in both Windows and game, which basically destroyed it.

There's a workaround that is to use a software to just delete the 4096 x 2160 from its firmware altogether but I heard that it doesn't work on the newer version of LG OLED in particular. Honestly, I don't know if FO48U was free of that issue but it should be since it doesn't have TV firmware altogether (and rting only list its support resolution as 3860 x 2160 but they missed some stuff before)

I have only tested it against Dark Rock Pro 4 and a NH-U14S.

The Dark Rock Pro 4 cools about the same as a D-15 but has clearance issues with some ram like CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro.

The NH-U14S was used with an i7 6700k and a i7 8700k. It has a single fin stack but uses the same fans as the D-15. I like them for 6 core quite builds.

If I was buying now I would not get a D-15 since their size is a bit limiting. I would go for a Noctua NH-D12L that uses 120mm fans. Not as cool but if you are not overclocking the extra cooling of the D-15 may not be needed.

My i9 11900k uses one with a single fan.
This is what it looks like running Cinebench R20. I also use one on a i9 9900k with similar results.
The D-15 the i9 11900k uses was bought in 2016 for a hot i7 6700k so they do last.

jones177 reacted to Montana One-Six in Is 600W for a graphics card actually worth it for the performance buff or is it a cheap cop-out?
    If the new leaks are true 600W isn't correct. According to kopite7kimi: RTX 4090, AD102-300, 16128FP32, 21Gbps 24G GDDR6X, 450W, ~2x3090.
Which means 4090 is twice the performance of 3090 at 450W. 3090 is 350W at least. So 100W more but twice the performance would be pretty good.

So I will definitely be looking out for a replacement for my 3080Ti if the leaks turn out to be true.
