  1. I have 2x Lian Li o11 dynamic setups and one Dynamic EVO setup and I found that most of the GPU hot air is exhausted out the side and dose not reach the top. So my AIO setups are on top. My 5900x setup has a 400 watt FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti that puts out a silly amount of heat gaming but the 5900x but the games in the 50s and Cinebench in the 60s. Parts are listed below.
  2. There are several things that can do it. Bad 24pin motherboard cable or PCIe cable. It happened on my i9 10900k rig. Found out by regaling the cable. Not enough PSU power to start the GPU. With my RTX 2080 tis I sometimes had to swatch off at the PSU and then on again to get the computers to start. They had 850 watt PSUs and with 1000 watt PSUs the issue was gone. Since I only have 1000 & 1300 watt PSUs I have had no issues with my 3090s and 3090 ti. Also when my i9 10900k overclocked and my FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti overclocked were together they used 833 watts from the wall. You are using more.
  3. Anger is what you take to the grave.
  4. That is about right for your card at stock. Here is my Strix 3080 at stock. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/63945593? Being a Strix the clocks are higher so the score is higher.
  5. I mean a floor fan. They are about 20" wide and cost about $20 at Walmart. With the side of a case open they can fill the case with cool air so it gives you the ideal temperature of the GPU. I use them when I don't have a computer on a bench. I have never needed to repast or replace pads on any GPU. I have added them when they were missing. With the type of setups I use it is also not necessary. This is my RTX 3090 ti setup. With one intake fan on the bottom of the Lian Li o11 dynamic EVO it is only 3c hotter than on the bench. It now has 2 fans so about the same as on the bench. Since the intakes are below the GPU it only gets cool air. It averages 60c in the Time Spy with the 3090 ti at stock. https://www.3dmark.com/spy/27879092
  6. The Strix 3080 did not have zero rpm if "Prefer maximum performance " was enabled in the Nvidia control panel but it idled at 60c. With it set to "Normal" it idled at 30c with zero rpm on the fans. It was not that hard to cool but the rest of my 30 series cards were so I now like to use cases that intake air from the bottom so the GPUs have more cool air. My place is a constant 21c since it is air conditioned 24/7, 12 months out of the year. It is 33c out side now so not much choice. I would run it on a bench first or with a floor fan pointed at it before a repast since stuff happens. It just may not like your case. I have a CM H500P Mesh and all my 30 series cards ran hot in it for some unknow reason. I replaced it with a Lian Li o11 dynamic and the temps dropped by 10c. My Strix 3080 was in a CM H500 ARGB that has basically the same design as the H500P Mesh but ran cool.
  7. I had one. My Strix 3080 was cool and quiet. It idled in the 30s and gamed in the 60s. It was the only 30 series card I bought that I did not have to add fans to my cases to keep it cool. It was in a CM H500 ARGB and later a Corsair 5000d. Here is the stock Time Spy run. Note that its average temperature was 64c. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/63945593? It was using 370 watts in that run with default fans. Here is its overclocked run in Time Spy. Note that its average temperature was 62c. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/64110353? It was using 450 watts in that run with fans at 100%. The Time Spy runs were in a CM H500 ARGB case with stock fans.
  8. I would not go Gigabyte with the 30 series but I did buy 3 MSIs. A 3080 ti and two 3090s. They were mainly bought for productivity since I don't monitor those builds as much as I do my gaming rigs. Like EVGAs they do overshoot a bit. So my Gaming X Trio 3080 ti hit 395 watts overclocked in Time Spy with only 380 watts in the bios. By contrast my Strix 3080 had 450 watts in the bios and never went over it. Max temp with the fans at 100% was 58c so not bad for an air cooled card. If prices go down further I will buy another MSI 3090. This time the Suprim version. The only other card I would consider is the Strix but the MSI has a better chance of dropping in price.
  9. That mod setup usually has about 500 to 700 draugr in a dungeon and would crash with a i7 2600k, i7 6700, i7 8700k, i9 9900k but is doable with a 5800x or i9 10900k so years in the making. It may be a game changer. I will get one and it will replace the last 3080 ti I use for gaming.
  10. I know what it is like. My modded Fallout 4 will only run on a 3090 now since it needs more than 12gbs vram. It also needs 5.3ghz so be smooth. Skyrim can get silly as well. This is what kills my frames. Depth of field may be killing yours. Here is my SE game with ENB and Reshade on a 5800x with a 3080 ti. I use both to wake up the GPU. All my "old PCs" go to my Son. I do want them back after he is done so I can do some tests.
  11. It depends since there can be a 10 frame difference between a budget 3080 ti and a high end one. That leaves a high end 3080 very close to a budget 3080 ti. This is what it looks like in one game with the same i9 9900k. SOTTR Highest Preset 1080p 1440p 4k Strix 3080 10gb OC(High end) 167fps 144fps 87fps EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 ti(budget) 168fps 143fps 83fps EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti(High end) 169fps 154fps 96fps They are all bottlenecked at 1080p but at 1440p the High end 3080 ti pulls away. With a more modern CPU like the 5800x the 1080p and 1440p will be higher but the 4k scores would be about the same.
  12. I had 2x GTX 1080 tis in SLI for about 3 years. The setup was used for gaming for about 2 years. Then they were replaced with a single 2080 ti. The setup got to be a pain to use since it would sometimes under perform, so one card had to be disabled. The last year of the setup was used for video editing only and was again replaced with a single 2080 it and now a 3080 ti. This is what it did in Time Spy. This is my FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti in time Spy that scores about the same as the 3090. My 3090s were never in my i9 9900k system.
  13. I had a 3080 10gb and tested it against my 3080 ti(12gbs). At 4k the only games the 3080 had issues with was my modded games and they have been using 11gbs since 2017. That was reason enough for me to sell it off. My 3080 was a Strix and it was very cool. With my EVGA 3080 tis I had to add fans and replace cases but the Strix was fine with the setups I used for my 2080 tis. I also have MSI Gaming X Trio 3080 ti and 3090. They also run cooler than the EVGAs but not as cool as the Strix. I would only buy the Suprim at this point. The only EVGA card that is cooler that the Strix and my MSIs Is the FTW3 Ultra 3090 ti and it is the only EVGA I can recommend.
  14. I have an i9 9900k with a 3080 ti. Things do run smooth at all resolutions but at 1080p and 1440p it is left behind by CPUs like the 5800x in some games. Looks like this. Shadow of the Tomb Raider with an EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 ti. When the i9 9900k and 5800x used a 2080 ti they produced the same frames in this game. 1080p 1440p 4k i9 9900k(8 core) 169fps 154fps 96fps 5800x(8 core) 198fps 163fps 96fps With a game that do not bottleneck at 1080p and 1440p it produces the same frames. Here is Horizon Zero Dawn on ultra. 1080p 1440p 4k i9 9900k(8 core) 155fps 138fps 88fps 5800x(8 core) 156fps 138fps 89fps At 4k there is no upgrade to an i9 9900k yet.
  15. I would wait to see if there are more price drops. The is Horizon Zero Dawn at 1440p set to ultra showing allocated and dedicated vram. This is with a 3080 ti. 8gbs was ok for a GTX 1080 in 2016 but not so great in 2022.

    LG C1

No. It is under General / TVinformation It would not work for me when I was working since I used 2 monitors but retired it is fine. I did not go for a 42" because at some point monitors will catch up to TVs and the OLEDs will end up on bedroom walls and 42" is too small for the rooms.

It is set to 50 or default. My C1 has a default of 50 as well. How many hours does yours have? Only one of my B9s burnt in and the other one is not near the hours the other one has. My TVs are on desks so I just push back to watch a movie.
  18. My Strix was like that as well and I can only compare to my MSIs and EVGAs. They are just better engineered. Having one spared you the grief of having to deal with a hot card.

    LG C1

I thought that it was only bright logos and bars like you see in the RTINGS.com burn in test so I did not expect dark grays and blacks to burn in. The TV now has 7400 hours and it has not gotten any worse since I stopped using it for the forums and YouTube. My other B9 only has 3700 hours and it shows no sign of burn in. I don't expect it to since it is only used for late night movies and gaming. My old monitor is a 38" ultrawide and it feels small, cramped and dull. There is no going back for me.
  20. I had an SC 1080 and it was fine. I then got SC2s 1080 ti and they were fine as well. My problems started with the XC 2080 ti that was too hot but the FTW3 Ultra was fine. I got EVGAs this time because they were available at MSRP but they have been a pain to cool. The exception is the FTW3 Ultra 3090 ti. It is 10c cooler than the 3080 ti version and the vram it 20c cooler. So they know how to make a cool card.

    LG C1

It only has to be used a lot. The chrome header burnt in on mine even with it in dark mode. It took about 4900 hours for it to be noticeable. This is above where movies play so in the black bar and not noticeable. My solution was to stop using them as monitors and just use them for games and movies. Now I am using my LG 38" 3840 X 1600 monitor to type this in.
  22. My Strix 3080 that used the same cooler as your 3080 ti version had no issue with the case using the stock fans . It is only the EVGA cards that are a bit too toasty. I think the Strix line were the best of the 30 series.
  23. I went with a C1 since they are cheap compared to the C2 and S95B. I have an LG 49" IPS 120hz TV and games look great on it. Not as good as the OLED but once you are into the game it does not matter. The difference is in the response time and that is why I replaced the IPSTV with an OLED. So to me it is not about the gaming experience but the viewing experience. I only stream stuff so I am not really going to see the difference like I did not see it in the showroom. My old LG B9 are bright enough for me so a C1 will do just fine.
  24. I noticed you have a CM H500 ARGB. I have two builds using them. At first both had 2080 tis and they were fine with the stock fan setup. One got a Strix 3080 and it was fine even with the card at 450 watts. With an EVGA XC3 Ultra that has dismal cooling I had to put a 140mm fan(D-15) on top and a 60mm fan below the GPU. Cooling is now ok but I would like to get it better. Did you do a custom fan setup in the case?
