  1. My computers get a seatbelt in the back seat with a towel over them and that is it. I am not UPS so I won't be tossing it around.
  2. I was in the EVGA queue for about as long for basically all their 3090s and later 3080 ti cards. I ended up getting an EVGA XC3 Ultra 2080 ti on the Newegg shuffle and about 3 months later an MSI gaming X Trio 3080 ti. Both at MSRP. The only auto notify that got results was from B&H and they sold at MSRP as well. I even bought a 3080 that I forgot about doing an auto notify on. I am no longer planning to buy cards at launch. I did it for the 900 series, 10 series and 20 series but the 30 series was a little to much. I also was driven by high frame rates at 1440p and 4k but that has changed with the 30s. The 2080 tis were overclocked to play games but the 3080 tis don't need to be to get the frames I want.
  3. An air cooled 3080 ti are a pain to keep cool. For my EVGA XC3 Ultra in a CM H500P I added a 60mm exhaust fan below the GPU. It was good for about 10c. The setup was fine without the extra fan with an EVGA FTW3 Ultra 2080 ti but not with the 3080 ti. My MSI Gaming X Trio was in a Corsair 5000D and the 60mm fan did not work so I replace it with a Lian li o11 dynamic and that dropper the temps by about almost 20c. I thing this case design is the best for air cooled 3080 ti since it draws air from the bottom of the case. I am not happy about the Corsair 5000D and I am still trying to get enough air to the GPU with it. I bought it because I was auto notify on all the EVGA hybrids 3080 and up and my Cooer Master cases were not designed for that. Here is an image of the 60mm fan. Ugly but is works.
  4. The big problem right now is the high end models use too much power and produce too much heat. Gaming they produce more heat stock than my 2080 tis did overclocked. Most case designs can't handle the heat so there is lots of under volting and pad replacement going on. I would settle for coffee.
  5. If you mean +1200 on the ram that will heat soak the card unless it is on a bench with lots of air flow In a case +800 is about it without heat soaking the card and that is with the fans at 100%.
  6. I have a MSI Gaming X Trio 3090 and it is very cool mainly because of the heat pipes on the backplate. I have a 3080, 2x 3080 tis and a 3090. The 3080 tis and the 3090 will run hot if there is not enough airflow in the case. My MSI Gaming Trio 3080 ti was in low 80s stock in a Corsair 5000D with 3 120mm fans in front and an CPU AIO on top but runs 10c cooler in a Lian li o11 dynamic. I have the Lian li o11 dynamic pulling air from the bottom of the case so lots of cool air moving past the GPU. With the 3090 I got lucky since it went into my CM H500M and that is one of the coolest cases on the Gamers Nexus charts. This alone can knock of 5 to 7c.
  7. I would not recommend a Corsair 5000 case unless the CPU and the GPU are water cooled. I have a Corsair 5000D with 3 SP120 RGB Elite fans in front. Since the case is so deep to accommodate a side radiator with fans it puts the front fans too far away to put air over the GPU. My MSI Gaming X Trio 3080 ti was in one for a while and it was hitting 80c stock. Putting it a lian li o11 dynamic dropped the temps about 10c. I also would not put HDDs in the system. Windows checks disks so it runs as slow as your slowest drives. I just built a i9 10900kf computer because I am not waiting for 12th gen. It will need Windows 11 and I am not planning on using that until 2023. Win 10 was a compactivity nightmare for me for about a year so I will give it a year for this one.
  8. Gigabyte are known to have fan noise and heat issues. I have two 3080 tis. One MSI and one EVGA. In some cases they run hot and therefore the fans are noisy. My MSI Gaming X Trio was hot and noisy in a Corsair 5000D but cool and quiet in a Lian Li O11 Dynamic. With any 3080 ti you may have to rethink your cooling.
  9. I buy Gigabyte motherboards but would not get a video card from them so to me it depends on the divisions in the company. With the Gigabyte PSU news that has come out I will be avoiding that division as well. The first Gigabyte Motherboard I bought was in 2011 and the last was in August of this year. My first Gigabyte GPU I bought was in 2006 and the last was a GTX 1080 in 2016. It was the Extreme version and it was so extreme that the factory overclock had to be removed for some games not to crash with the motherboards I tested at the time. I still have it since I can't sell it. With Thermaltake only one product stands out to me and that it their open frame chassis(cases). With their other products there has been better choices for years. I suggest watching and reading lots of reviews on a product before buying and also checking the forums for personal experiences with a product.
  10. That is why I want to test it again. Now my i9 9900k is stock and this is how it does in Time Spy with the 3080 at stock as well. Since it is a ASUS ROG Strix it can do a lot better with an overclock(18600). In this bench you should be slightly higher if you are at stock since the i7 10700k is slightly quicker than the older i9.
  11. I get about 20 frames between my i9 9900k/3080 and i9 10900k/3080 ti at 1440p. Between the i9 9900k/3080 and 5800x/3080 ti it is about 14 frames at 1440p. I never saw a measurable difference between 3200 and 3600 ram but a computer I loaned out with 3600 ram is coming back in a week or 2 so I will be able to test it again. My i9 10900k and i9 10900kf use 4000 ram and so far it has not been worth the extra cost.
  12. I was in an indie group that created content for games. I would say that about 30% of the content I created was pirated. For a while I went after people who tried to sell the content as their own. In the end I gave up on the gaming industry and just did corporate stuff. What I say to any pirate is. Just try to create game content for a living and watch it being stolen from you. My skin is not thick enough to just let it go.
  13. The 5800x is sort of hot but I think it is the cooler designs that are basically Intel that is causing it. I have a 5800x and an i9 10900ks. My 5800x only uses 128 watts max stock but the AIO fans are going nuts. It is basically a hot spot underneath the heat spreader. The i9 10900k idles 8c cooler than the 5800x at stock and it uses 220watts. Since it takes up more space underneath the heat spreader it is easier to cool. I use a 360mm AIO on my 5800x and running Odyssey or Origins it is screaming. Mine runs Origins in the mid 60s and never(so far) goes out of the 60s gaming. I went with a 360mm AIO since I read so many posts like yours before buying. I am now thinking that I should have tried a large air cooler first since it would be quiter with 2 140mm fans instead of 3 120mm fans.
  14. I am speculating on the future so I could be right or wrong. I did not go for the i9 11900k since it only has 8 cores. I am not waiting for next gen since it needs Windows 11 and I won't touch that until 2023. The i9 10850k is not considered because the difference in price does not matter in the long run to me. If the Ryzen crowed can live without an igpu I can to. I have only had to use it once anyway. No argument, just different opinions and I think yours is the most popular one.
  15. Way back in 2018 I had a 17 8700k that could do 4.9ghz all cores and a i7 8086k that ran at 5ghz all cores. When they both had GTX 1080 tis they did about the same frames. When they got RTX 2080 tis the i7 8086k pulled away by about 10 frames. I bought another i7 8086k. 5ghz is a performance plateau for this architecture and the next is 5.35ghz so I am not 100% sure that 5.3ghz is close enough to matter. If it is, the i9 10900k will pull away from the 10850k with the next gen high end GPUs like the i7 8086k did with 2080 ti. The i9 9900k is another Intel CPU that got ragged on by reviewers but with a 3080 or 3080 ti it does the same frames as a 5800x. It went straight into a productivity build in 2019 since it did the exact same frames as the i7 8086k in games with a 2080 ti but now with 30 series cards it pulls away by about 15 frames. I am betting $60 on the future based on what I learned in the past.
  16. I am not particularly interested in reviews on either chip since they rarely use thermal velocity boost(TVB) and to me this it what they are all about. In most games I don't notice the difference between the i9 10900k, 5800x and the i9 9900k. My main gaming rig is the 5800x and it loses against the i9 in all my tests save one. Since I built a i9 10900k rig last October and thoroughly tested it even with a 5.3ghz all core overclock I know what it can do what I need and the difference in price were I am is not an issue.
  17. I still have a i7 6700k/GTX 1080 computer. It was replaced for gaming with a I7 8086k. The big difference was not the frames but the feel since the 6 core was a lot smoother. Now the 6 core feels rough compared to my 8 core CPUs and it will be retired from gaming in a few weeks. If you don't have higher core count computers to compare them too they seem fine but after replacing my i7 2600k with a i7 8700k in 2017 there was no going back.
  18. I paid $468 for the i9 10900kf and the i9 10850k is $409. So to me the difference is the price of one AAA game. Also. At stock the 10900k is 4.9ghz all cores. In the tests that I have done 4.8ghz does not cut it so to me the i9 10850k is only good for overclocking and it has to have a 5.2ghz overclock to beat the 10900k that is using TVB in a lot of games I have tested. 5.1ghz makes for a nice Chinebench scores but that is about it. The i9 10900k using TVB beats my overclocked 5800x, my 19 9900k at 5ghz all cores and my i7 8086k with 5.1ghz all cores.

GPU = MSI Gaming X Trio (From the Newegg Shuffle) CPU = i9 10900kf (cheaper than an i9 10900k and better than a i9 10850k) CPU cooling = SilverStone PF360-ARGB AIO (budget 360 AIO with argb (I have one on my i9 10900k build I did last October) Motherboard = GIGABYTE Z490 AORUS Master (Wanted a ASUS Hero X II but did not fit in budget) Ram = CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 4000 (relatively cheap right now in the US. Payed $100 more 10/20) Storage = Crucial P1 1TB 3D NAND NVMe (I use NVMEs to boot anf for games that need the speed) = Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 (I usually get 2tb MX500s ) PSU = EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G+, 80 Plus Gold 1000W(The 40 series will probably use more power so a safe bet for $200) Air cooling = 3X SilverStone AB120R-ARGB Air Blazer 120mm PWM (same fans as the PF360-ARGB AIO) = 1x 120mm stock fan from my Corsair 5000D Case = Lian Li O11 Dynamic white. (the only case I would by now for an air cooled 3080, 3080 ti and 3090) All my last 2 builds had issues but this one is perfect.
  20. I did not need it for the H500M but the H500P Mesh got one and it looked like this. It is a Noctua NF-A6x25.
  21. That for me seems to change with Nvidia drivers. I have 3 TVs connected to PCs with 30 series cards and with some driver updates I have to either go into Nvidia control panel, select "setup digital audio" and it starts to work or change the output(cable) and then back to PC and it works. Right now 2 out of 3 TVs have the sound working properly but not a long time ago it was the other way around.
  22. I don't have a 5600x to test but I do have Intel 6, 8 and 10 core CPUs and the i9 9900k(8 core) is just as smooth as the 5800x(8 core) and the i9 10900k is even smoother.   23. I would go with a 5800x. I have one with a 3080 ti and I like it. It replaced an Intel 6 core and it is a lot smoother experience. I went with an x570 Master. I only like the Hero for ASUS and I have yet to try an MSI board. I have 4x8 3200 ram in mine since I already had it. If I was buying I would go with your choice. I use a EK 360mm AIO and idle temps are in the low 30s and it games in the 50s and 60s so it would be fine with a 280mm. I only buy 1000 watt PSUs now and the last 3 have been EVGA mainly because of price. My reasoning is that GPUs will use more power in the future.
  24. I have a H500M and it has a 3090 in it that runs about 10c cooler than yours. It is configured like this. I have a CM H500P Mesh with an EVGA XC3 Ultra 3080 ti and it was ok with a 2080 ti but with the 3080 ti I had to add a 60mm fan below the GPU to get the temps in the 70s stock. I Also have a Corsair 5000D and it was a total fail with a MSI Gaming X Trio. A 60mm exhaust fan like I used on the H500P did nothing in this case so I replaced it with a Lian Li O11 Dynamic. The Lian Li O11 Dynamic has the 3080 ti in the 70s. This case has the best setup to cool a high end 30 series card. My 3080 is in a CM H500 ARGB and it stays cool probably because of the Noctua nh-d15 right beside it. If you are a MSI Afterburner user this works.
  25. You are pulling more than the recommended 150 watts from the cable. To see what you are using per cable use GPUZ under sensors. Looks like this. I have the ROG Strix OC 3080 and it can use over 450 watts so it uses 3 cables. The last time I daisy-chained was with my GTX 980 ti(1 8pin and 1 6pin) SLI setup. One of the cables eventually shorted and took out a video card. Fortunately there was 45 days left on the warranty and to my surprise EVGA replaced it.
