  1. The RAM is identical and registered ECC. Ill try doing one stick in A1 and another in D1. but I have been giving both CPU's RAM. The odd thing is, the board will never even start to begin to boot. The LED readout that gives you those error codes and such doesn't even light up at all.
  2. I have a Tyan S7012 that I want to put two Xeon x5660s in. However, whenever I try to bootup with both CPUs installed, it will never boot, let alone post. Ive tested both CPUs in socket 0 and when theyre on their own, the system works fine. At first I suspected bent pins or a dead socket but no of the pins are bent and the CPU in socket 1 is recieving power and heats up. Im not sure if that means anything in terms of a bad socket or what, but I am theroughly perplexed. Ive done one stick of ram in every slot possible and still nothing. What am I missing? EDIT: I also have updated the BIOS to the latest version and reset CMOS.
  3. I did download Ubuntu Server, however I was not able to figure out how to install it. I found myself in a partitioning loop that I didn't understand. I'm going to try updating all the drivers and getting the latest BIOS to see if that helps. Ive gotten the latest version of Ubuntu installed now, which is fantastic! I reset the BIOS and installed it via a USB Boot disk. I remember reading somewhere that this board didnt support that feature, but I guess i was wrong. I had been using my gaming rig to load the OS onto the drive and then connecting it tok the other board. The only problem I have now is occasionnaly, Ill never get a video output from my graphics card, a Gigabyte Windforce OC 970. Its hit or miss and I have yet to find what exactly is causing the problem. Any ideas?
  4. I was able to get the computer to boot with WIndows 7 on it. Everything runs fine and dandy with the on CPU and 28GB of RAM installed. I'm still perplexed as to why Ubuntu isn't able to boot up?
  5. I've been building a dual Xeonx build the last few days on a Tyan S7012 motherboard and it has been an absolute nightmare. I am currently struggling to get any kind of operating system to actually post from the board. I have tried multiple version of Ubuntu, old and new, and they all lead me a blinking cursor up at the top left of the screen. I did an install of WIndows 10 that causes the board to not even fully boot. I've never tinkered with a "Server Board" before so I am at a loss here. What are my options/what am I doing wrong? Any help is extremely appreciated!
