  1. You mean a "foregone conclusion"? I figured if i didnt link to Australian articles youd say i was "making shit up". Looks like you resorted to being hostile and insulting anyway but i know its ok for you to do so. As for golden lag. What i am saying is that: I dont know where he lives and never claimed to. Your presumption is therefore incorrect, but its ok. I know youre pretending not to get it like telling me "the NBN doesnt concern you since you dont live here" while ignoring the entire NZ vs US premise of the OP.
  2. I was discussing Australia, NZ and the USA. I dont know where he is from. And your statements(as wrong as they are) do not apply since i wasnt presuming his country of residence...
  3. Precisely. Doesnt matter if the OP is from NZ or not. The same "logic" applies. If @mr moose is fine commenting on the affairs of countries that he doesnt live in, but then asks why i am, he already has his answer. And if the OP is simply misinformed and doesnt even live in NZ but is championing their government run internet, while complaining about the US then its even more amusing really.
  4. You mean the Fiat currency thats worth less than the denim its printed on? I prefer gold anyway. I often take the toll roads by the way. Theyre faster and have better pavement.
  5. Thank you for reinforcing my point that it is indeed theft. Men with guns coming for you if you dont give them money is usually called robbery to be specific.
  6. Oh, so you mean you dont like it when someone posts a thread specifically to brag about their country, while simultaneously telling another country that is very different(and even spends money to make their bragging possible) what they ought to do? You dont like the OPs agenda based thread? You know the one youve been fine posting in until i point out that people are overlooking the issues and facts about their own countries while bitching about the USA? Hmmm...
  7. There isnt a NEED. Dont conflate a motive for a need. Animal? Except the government has no competition and cant go out of business when the cost doubles, the product sucks and people want some alternative. They are obviously incompetent if they quote a price, then it doubles and they still manage to make it suck. A private company that did that would go out of business and someone else would take their place. Tax is theft if you dont voluntarily donate it. If you dont pay taxes men with guns do come for you to imprison you or tame your stuff so its theft. Probs should. "Knowledge is power." Francis Bacon.
  8. Been involved with computers for almost two decades. Theres always something new to learn. To know how to build a PC takes a few days to learn, but to know the technology landscape takes constantly researching the current and future technologies. If you can assemble Legos you can build a PC. But to know the intricacies of semiconductor engineering or network topology and architectures of complex systems takes constant study.
  9. I maintained my diet and weight for the 18 years since i was 17, so some(if few) people do. I gained some weight and lost it from drinking, but my basic dietary intake is the same. The other thing is that many people around the world eat healthy all their lives. Particularly the places that have a high concentration of people that live past 100 or where the traditional diet is extremely healthy(Sicily, most of Japan and particularly Okinawa). I mostly tried to apply the dietary practices that they have to my own diet, which is expensive in the US and difficult if you dont grow your own food. Im not criticizing peoples' choice to eat certain food the exercise it off. I was simply stating the biological price to be paid which is involved in that choice. Eating junk and then exercising it off is NOT biologically free. Thats fine but youre making it sound like there isnt any biological downside. "If it sounds too good to be true it probably is" applies here. Well at least if the person thinks its ok to constantly eat junk and then exercise. Eating some pizza, cheesecake or whatever is fine as long as its not the only thing someone eats. Plus there are ways to make most of those foods healthier by using better ingredients. Other than bouts of horrible drinking i did for 18 of my 35 years. And there is definitely a biological price to be paid for that vice too. Probably just as high as the food thing. But everyone knows and accepts that drinking is terrible for you and that there is a price to pay for it. I agree its definitely not easy to maintain a good diet, espscially in this current world, and there are times when life and stress gets in the way. The gym is definitely a good solution for that. But someone like yourself surely doesnt eat junk constantly. I get the whole "eat something bad for you to make you happy occasionally, work it off and dont worry about it". I treat myself too but usually with a healthy version of junk food. But thats very different than eating junk constantly and constantly working it off. If theres no difference between you and them then you might have wo the genetic lottery.
  10. Did you try the clean install and configuring Vsync properly?
  11. More calories in means more cellular respiration, and therefore reactive oxygen species(free radicals) produced. The more you run any engine, the quicker it will wear. Despite regenerative abilities, the body is no exception. Telomeres arent infinite in length. When i was losing weight initially, i also got into anti-aging. The research 18 years ago was still pretty new, but its now well researched that caloric restriction increases lifespan in mammals. This is one of the many reasons that certain cultures have a great number of people who live to be >100 years old. They usually have similar diets despite being geographically distributed. Its not just about macronutrients and calories either. Its about what specific things you eat, your microbiome health, oxidative stress from the environment, proper sleep and of course stress which affects hormone and neurotransmitter levels and feedback mechanisms. Stress is a killer and exercise and sleep definitely helps with that. Heat affects how the materials break down. Electromigration is the actual process that chips degrade by. Unlike being able to simply reduce the temperature of a chip by adding a higher flow rate or lower temperature coolant, removing the waste products of cellular metabolism isnt quite so simple. Increased metabolism means more cellular wear and tear and therefore faster aging. The body's antioxidant and repair systems arent easily controlled externally like a cooling system is. And yes, poor diet and lack of exercise is worse than poor diet with exercise or no exercise and a good diet. That being said, the answer to the OPs question about there being a price to pay for eating junk and going to the gym remains. There most certainly is a price to be paid for eating junk and exercising it away. Its not that one shouldnt exercise. You absolutely should. But exercising so one can eat junk isnt a healthy approach.
  12. You can just use the drivers without GFE. I do.
  13. You should not do that or have any reason to with your specs. It is not a valid fix. First, do a clean install of the latest nvidia drivers. Use Fast Vsync if you use Vsync at all in the Nvidia control panel. Try different Vsync settings in game: on in drivers but off in game. On in both etc. Its usually the game engine not playing well with the drivers if you have normal Vsync on in both places causing massive stutter. For many games i just use Fast Sync in drivers and have Vsync off in game. Can you show the detailed breakdown of your memory usage in Resource Monitor btw. Its more helpful. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer Using that will give even more info than Task Manager or Resource Monitor.
  14. 80+ is an absolutely meaningless certification. https://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/10/04/80_plus_irrelevant_to_you_when_buying_psu/ You need to look at who actually makes the PSU to know if its good or bad. http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/PSUReviewDatabase.html That shows who makes PSUs and has links to reviews. Its the most important single component in terms of the reliability of a PC(along with the UPS oe surge protector that protects it) so it pays to get a good one.
  15. I wouldnt reset it without trying to establish whats wrong. First thing to do when windows updare doesnt work is check for malware. Id run a malwarebytes threat scan with rootkit detection enabled(its in detection settings). https://www.malwarebytes.com Then I would open up an admin level command prompt and run the following commands: dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth sfc /scannow
  16. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812106085&ignorebbr=1 Ik that has a bunch of outlets but the Joule rating is much higher than the smaller models.
  17. Except that the body is actually more complicated than any rocket, although turbomachinery like liquid rockets isnt exactly simple either. You know the link between caloric restriction and longevity right? I was 224lbs and 5'4" at 14. I dropped to 129 and 5'6" at 17. The only thing thats made me gain back weight was booze but i know thats detrimental and gonna kill me if i do it. People may think they can eat a ton of calories and just work it off but its not that simple really. Unless looks are the only concern. You CAN do it for looks but its still not good for your body, which someone readibg this should consider before doing it. The more calories you intake and burn the more wear and tear on your body from oxidative stress. Its like a car. The more fuel you burn and miles you put on, the sooner it wears out. Or since we're on a computer forum, its like running Prime95 or Furmark and leaving your PC on max performance instead of using the DVFS features on the CPU and GPU. Only instead of oxidative damage or mechanical wear it would be electromigration.
  18. Thats weird. When im on my phone using different country endpoints from my VPN it still never auto completes even if i type "China Uncensor" and typing the full name requires me to search to see the channel.
  19. You CAN but you shouldnt. Being thin or even in shape is VERY different from being healthy. In order to be healthy you need to eat healthy food. You can look decent, be in shape and thin but still be in terrible health.
  20. Terrible advice. Good way to wear out your parts without actually fixing anything. Multiple monitors, like he said he has... You dont need to use DDU. The Nvidia installer has a clean install option, which is what i already recommended he do.
  21. Are you tabbed out when youre getting that gpu usage reading? Are you using multiple monitors and do you run the game in full screen windowed mode? Have you done a CLEAN INSTALL of the latest GPU drivers? I would download the latest ones and go to custom installation. Select clean install and dont install Geforce Experience unless you absolutely need to. Go to windows power settings and make sure minimum processor state is 5% and max is 100%, cooling policy is active, and that PCIe link state is disabled.
  22. Thats why i asked. Theres a difference between constant study and simply memorizing facts to take a test and pass, which is what i was referring to. And the tracheotomy thing is kinda like the sushi chef thing. Its a skill that requires practice. Learning about a process in biology, chemistry or physics requires a fundamental understanding. Theyre two different things that require a different approach to learning. Someone could memorize the answers to questions they know will be on a test and not fundamentally understand anything. In such a case all their repetition and memorization is utterly useless, since theyd lack a fundamental understanding of the subject. Fundamentally understanding x concept should only take one instance where the concept becomes fundamentally understood by the one studying. Thats kind of the nature of understanding a concept. There is a point before one understands it and a point after. Either the concept is understood or it isnt. Repetition doesnt make a difference for those sorts of things.
