  1. In a house with 4 people this would mean, assuming everyone has at least 2 devices, no more then 10 devices and not all of them working at once, so the multiple connections stability is not an issue even for a consumer device. The range might be important but note that the range by itself is not that remarkable, you will not connect from down the street, but the thing is if you are connected it just works, and you will not notice (in most cases) that the bandwidth is slower from a long distance. Other benefit is it will connect fast, and that seems like something little but it becomes so seamless that in time you forget that you are connected to something (again with the saying, it just works). Also if you are not transferring files trough the wifi network you can go with the cheaper Xi-2 or 1 models and you will be OK, but in many cases a simple consumer solution will be just fine, though you being in this tread is a little sign you know what Linus is rambling on about and your WIFI just doesn't work Sorry for the long ramble from me too but it is complicated.
  2. Some home automation systems and more things with the raspberry Pi, some cool beginner projects with it or maybe a competition. Even some home automation with the raspberry Pi would be fun.
  3. I just installed two XI-1 at the office (set to 2.4Ghz), each is at a different floor of about 150m2, and it covers them perfectly, the connection is very strong and the devices connect lightning fast (I mean really fast), it covers about the same distance as an Ubiquiti AP single band but the connection seems much faster, like he said my phone seems to be faster. The Ubiquiti is still OK and it still works with many devices connected without loosing stability but its speed (or maybe lag) seems to be like a consumer grade AP where this just snaps. I am considering buying XI-3 for my home where right now I am with Ruckus 7363. This is a good product even at the little higher then Ubiquiti price. P.S.: the Office building is solid concrete with far too many columns, so covering it is an achievement on its own
  4. I mean there is no 1080p, I won't cry for 1440p or 4K but at least FullHD, also there is no Android app. Probably they will fix those VERY big problems soon but I wanted to complain so they do it faster The platform seems to be very focused on engaging the users on a more personal level, so I like it, also the paying model especially at such a low cost is a good thing, hopefully Vessel will divide it fairly between themselves and the content creators, but I assume Linus and the others won't be trying it out if it wasn't so.
  5. Vessel seem to have missed the high resolution, I am not sure but it looks like videos there are only 720p??? Other then that the menu is different but I think I like it , also the feed offers new things and more diversity.

  7. Well we download a lot of files, upload a lot of files, photos, videos and all kinds. Watch Youtube, heavy multitasking in web browser, On-line gaming and many times that is simultaneously from about 10 devices. in September or October just for fun I measured the total network traffic toward the internet and it was about 2400Gb for 31 days if that helps. it is a small dorm-room (a house really) and 11 people live here, if that is any help too I would like if there is such a thing to be able to prioritise VOIP, Multimedia and other stuff, I know there are NICs that do it but not very well I think
  8. Pfsense didn't block anything but when I install the addons including the firewall it begins to, but no matter because it is too ineffective solution for me. I usually don't have VPN connections, so not a problem, I have a max number of devices about 20. About the Gigabit I agree that usually it will handle 120down and 120up, but just saying that less then gigabit won't work. I don't understand firewall rules so non, that is why I want a simple solution and I want to be protected without having to understand how , but I plan to use owncloud which I think is a sort of VPN also I connect to a remote desktop very often so maybe it matters. Also I have tried consumer solutions they just and plainly cannot handle workloads not that I can explain my workload very well but it seems to be heavy. Ubiquiti is stable but what I see in the firewall is that you cannot make requests from outside and that is the only protection I can find, and it seems stupid :) maybe this is normal for all routers but I don't know, that is why I asked you guys:) I hope this added information helps. Thanks again!
  9. I tried it and it just doesn't work for me, it blocked so many of the websites (including this one) so I quit trying to set it, also it is more expensive to build a computer, and not very power efficient too. I know I did something wrong because it is a powerful solution but I just didn't have the nerves and probably the knowledge to do it.
  10. Hi guys, I am on the market for good firewall router solution for my home. I have a seperate Access point Ruckus 7363 and I am quite happy with its speed for now, I have a Netgear gigabit switch to help me with additional connections, but my ubiquiti edgerouter poe is too complicated to operate and I generally don't like it (maybe it is a personal thing) so I am looking into other things. I have a 120MBps internet connection so the WAN to LAN speed has to at least 250MBps to cover the upload too, also in future it is possible to get higher speed connection so the more the bandwidth of router is the better. I found a Netgear ProSafe FVS318G for about 50 euro (second hand) but is it good and stable? Maybe you can recommend me something Thanks!
  11. I would build a server for my small business, on which directly can work multiple users.
  12. Hello, I am looking for a Laptop that has 15.6' screen or 14' but it should be with an IPS matrix. My budget is about 700 or 800 Euros. Do any of you know of such a model, because I am having problems finding something good Thank you in advance!!!
  13. In the last 6 years I have bought 11 chairs in total cost of just over 1500$ if this can withstand the torture for 3 to 5 years I am looking at a value deal , if it can live longer well you do the math
