  1. Hi, I'm trying to reformat an old Samsung 2.5" SSD so I can sell my old system. When I run Windows creation tool on the system with just the SSD as any other storage device in the system it shows up as Disk 3 @ 500GB with an error saying unable to boot to as set in an MBR partition and Disk 4 @ 460GB with an error saying unable to boot to this device with no context. Clicking on either of the drives gives me the option of refreshing or updating drivers, only the smaller partition gives me another option of creating a new partition but when I try to do so it just says unable to do so. I have a SATA to USB adapter so I tried plugging in the SSD to my laptop to see if I could format it in some way but it does not appear anywhere, from file explorer to disk manager or device manafer. Does anyone have any clue? Note: I do wonder if my SATA to USB adapter is broken as I tried it with a 2.5 HHD which I don't care about, it span but nothing appeared again. TLDR: SSD has 2 partitions in Windows installation media and can not be formatted or merged, in another device does not appear at all with a SATA to USB adapter. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this drive as I am trying to sell this before going back to Uni as I am in need of the money.
  2. Yes they address me by name but they requested a name as to make polite communication that of which I'm happy to give but I haven't even been able to make an enquiry to them yet they have just asked me for details before I made the product enquiry which can be seen in the image it was only after asking me for my contact details did they then ask what my enquiry was I just believe this is very pushy and very backwards and like I say you wouldn't give someone you email and phone number before asking a question about what they are selling. For clarity my inital question was about a device I had to trade in for as apart of their trade in discount option. This is the full process I went through: 1) Didn't know if my device was eligible. 2) Found their live chat and got put in a queue to talk to someone. 3) Was asked name and contact details. 4) Was finally asked my query. 5) Made my query and got my answer. What I see the issue is number 3 should have been last incase I had a follow up query at a later date. This is how privacy should be viewed and treated not some pushy way to add you onto a list of contact details This is where I have a further problem I do live in the UK under a lot of EU durastriction BUT 90% of the sites I use reguarlly or new UK/EU sites I come accross have the marketing emails option as "opt-out" and I have done work experience for UK companies under EU durastriction and the training has been always tick the "opt-in" box unless customers say and from what I've heard from friends in similar positions are told by managment to always tick it even if customers say else. I'm sorry my point is not clear and thanks for your help trying to unfold it but I hope the above makes it clear as to where my problem lies. Its these bad practices and pushy tactics that my problem stems from even when they are thought to be against durastiction.
  3. This wasn't a bot I was talking to (for once, thankfully!) but I don't see why they need to have all my details before I even ask them anything, thats the same as you being asked your email and phone number when going to an instore customer support, before you have even made an enquirey its all backwards. As you can see as well the person on the other end asked me directly but they had an actual input form in the chat when I did give them my details on my request, which knowing how lazy companies are is the same one the other person was filling out and also how pushy companies are the person who would have been filling it in for me would have been told as apart of training to automatically tick the marketing button. Like you mention yes I am in the UK so do have to comply to EU data laws, but the EU data laws are about privacy and like I said to the person in the chat doesn't privacy mean they wouldn't require my details about a basic product enquirey also product enquireies doesn't mean a garenteed purchase, I will say a purchase will require the relevent details yet I'm enquiring. You wouldn't walk into a Game/Game Stop and be asked for your email and phone number to ask the guy behind the counter do you have Assasins Creed. I do understand the argument for keep notes on customers incase a customer who had previously had an enquirey might have another and you can address them quicker with more relevancy but they asked my name and surely if im personally making the enquiries (potentially about multiple products from different sellers) I would be keeping track of the info that they are giving me and they wouldn't need to keep a copy of my enquiries incase I ask again. I could ask 2 different Game's/Game Stop's the same question about Assasins Creed and they don't need to contact each other about my enquiry they would just give me an answer then and then. I'm sorry if this is long or confusing but I am confused as to why they need to keep my info because I asked someone about a product, I could have asked you or my friend if I thought either of you maybe able to give me the relevant detail and yet again you don't need to keep track of my enquires between the 2 of you (you don't even know each other!) Now I do want to appologise for this rant but this just seems like very pushy ways to havest peoples contact data and get them onto markteting mailing lists.
  4. Just using Samsung's live chat support but they have a customer privacy policy requiring a contact number and email address??? This sketched me out as if its private I would have thought anomynity would have been most private. I fortuantely did ask the person on the other end this and after almost 5 minutes they did move on. Now the key question is samsung fishing for contacts to spam junk with or is there a mole working at samsung live chat support? Now personally in this modern era where both apple and samsung advertise about privacy, I don't believe they should be asking for this information upfront and especially without hinting towards the idea this is opptional. This is very pushy especially considering the majority of people contacting them may not be as tech-savy as the rest of us here, or even that savy as I know my 80yo gran does use the internet as often as me (even if it may not be for the same things) but she recently she has been looking online for some new devices and being lured into one of these marketing fishing traps I don't personally believe is morally right. I will admit I did give contact info at the end, where they had a proper form WITH A BUTTON TO DENY MARKETING (THEY NEVER ASKED ME ABOUT THIS OPTION ORIGINALLY!!!), but for the reason of I wanted a transcript of the chat for what I originally contacted them about. Sorry this is lengthy and probably wrongly worded. Im techy not literate.
  5. The rest of your setup sounds great as it is so no need for change there. As you do not want to break the bank I recomend looking towards RTX 3060/3070 as thanks to the recent price drops you can find a 3060 for under £500 easily now and a 3070 in the range of about £500-£700 depending on where you look. On ebuyer.com you can find a 3060 for less than £400 even: https://www.ebuyer.com/1140154-msi-geforce-rtx-3060-12gb-ventus-2x-ampere-graphics-card-rtx-3060-ventus-2x-12g looking at in game performance you will probably get around 100 fps in Dirt 5 assuming you are playing on 1080p (which from the sounds of that poor old 660 you are) and for battlefield you are probably looking around 140fps which is more than enough if you are just looking to have fun and play a few games and run emulators.
  6. So my friends pc is having trouble installing 1060 drivers but on his pc they don't install but his gpu works fine in my pc with my 1060 drivers so we install the drivers on his ssd on my pc with my 1060 they install but then don't work when the ssd is transferred so we then change the mobo for an identical one which we know works and it just wont boot at all then. The only thing i could think of is dodgy gpu bios but then how did it work on my pc? Do you know what the problem is? i7 3770 8gb ddr3 msi h61m-p31 zotac mini gtx 1060 3gb intel 160gb ssd wd green 1tb
  7. I was thinking on buying the cable mod vertical gpu bracket but was wandering weather the strix 1060 I have will fit in the define c vertically mounted even if I was to water cool it taking a bit of length of from the cooler length
  8. If it's not worth water cooling a 1060 should I buy the dual 1060 now then sell it later down the line to upgrade to a 1070 or what ever series Nvidia calls their line up (1170)?
  9. I am going to be creating a water cooling loop on at least the cpu if I do add the GPU it will not be on a single loop and the main reason I want to water cool the card is that when I get water cooling the res will be acting as a GPU support and I don't think that looks the best so I want to water cool the card so it isn't sagging on the res
  10. Also the card can not be the asus turbo as that is too long for my case
  11. I a looking at buying a 1060 6GB and the one I want to get is £300 including shipping, I want to get this one as later down the line I can water cool it (Gigabyte G1 gaming 1060 6GB card) but there is another card for £50 cheaper and with a free gaming mouse but I can not water cool it later down the line (Asus Dual 1060 6GB gaming). G1 1060: https://www.ebuyer.com/780573-gigabyte-gtx-1060-6gb-g1-gaming-graphics-card-gv-n1060g1-gaming-6gd-v2 Dual 1060: https://www.ebuyer.com/753392-asus-gtx-1060-6gb-dual-oc-graphics-card-dual-gtx1060-o6g The reason I want 1060 6GB is because I am on a budget and therefore am not looking to be upgrading too soon. The water cooling gear I want to be using is only EKWB and I want to water cool my card so can not be 1050 if anyone knows of any 1060 6GB cards around the same budget as the dual and can be water cooled please let me know and also the payment has to be in the Steerling Pound.
  12. I found this CHEAP wireless "gaming" mouse for £3.81! How can this even be any good???
