LukeLinusFanFic reacted to Roswell in Discussion on the LTT Backpack Warranty ...
A lot of people are taking just as much issue with your attitude as they are your reluctance to provide basic consumer protection.
Maybe instead of qualifying your warranty policy with your loathing of said basic consumer protections, you just skip the loathing part. You’re saying the “I hate losing pennies on the dollar in the interest of my customers” part out loud, which also sucks for business.
Most educated people get it, understand it. You’re a business and your customers exist solely to fill your pockets. But you need to balance that sentiment with a basic level of respect for your source of revenue.

LukeLinusFanFic reacted to Pitboy64 in Discussion on the LTT Backpack Warranty ...
My personal thoughts.
I suppose most of it is cut/paste from what we see elsewhere.
One thing stuck out for me: The COSMETIC DAMAGE part.
I know Linus will likely replace a backpack if it arrives with an obvious manufacture defect that is of a cosmetic nature ... because he said he would stand up to his product ... but this particular exception actually means that if the (lets say) colour shade of the materials of the pieces that make up the outside of the bag is horribly beyond reasonable acceptable limits ... different from each other, appear unbalanced or just wrong (like an 'end of roll' issue),
... its not covered because its just 'cosmetic'.
OR if a major zipper or edge trim piece is all twisted and sewn way out of spec and tolerance,
... its not covered, because its just 'cosmetic'.
OR if the LTT sewn on label on the front is upside down or backwards,
... its not covered, because its just 'cosmetic'.
There is nothing in the policy that separates a cosmetic issue as a manufacturer defect ... to a cosmetic defect that occurs over time of ownership (sun fade etc) which is what I assume this was supposed to be about. This discrepancy is problematic.
To a warranty policy, 'Materials defects' can be viewed as 'cosmetic'
This is the problem with going full hog policy ... the relaxed state of 'Obviously Im going to replace the bag if that happens', turns formal when its in writing, and we start balancing words and meanings. To that end, Its a shame Linus had to go here.

LukeLinusFanFic reacted to Roswell in You don't get a warrantee because Linus might die at an inconvenient time
Kind of hilarious seeing people rationalize the idea of a backpack (or most any other product) not having a warranty.
He's basically informing you that he's not confident in the long-term durability of the product and forgoing a basic consumer protection that literally every other manufacturer provides.

LukeLinusFanFic reacted to Wireless G-Spot in You don't get a warrantee because Linus might die at an inconvenient time
You think not providing warrantee's is forward thinking? Last time I checked his employees can handle the warrantee's in the unlikely event of his death and Yvonne doesn't want to deal with the company.
I agree, his company is very good about exchanging or replacing items. That doesn't change the fact his excuse was stupid. Linus could have stopped at "It's company policy to just handle any issues regarding items from our store." With the implication "handle" means we'll take care of our customers. But no, he kept talking and said something completely nonsensical.

I'm honestly very glad to see how amazing this forum is. If you checked on Reddit, the same topic became a political butt storm.
Either way, I guess what non Israelis don't get is that this is as close as we get to celebrities ever...

Hey,
I hope you’re enjoying our small country 🙂
Assuming you stay in Tel Aviv, here are some cool places to visit:
The beach! It’s a bit cold for swimming but sunsets are beautiful!
For food: “Fat cow” has the best burger in my opinion, at “Tony vespa” you’ll find a very tasty and cool square pizza, for Thai food “Nam” restaurant is awesome!
I highly recommend visiting “otello” for ice cream. It’s great!
We all wish you a great time and a safe flight home!
P.S. if you need a ride to the airport I’m available 😉

You shouldn't buy an external SSD either.
You should just have two HDDs in raid 1 in your existing PC, and that's it. Linus has a pretty good video on what it means.
Honestly though, cloud backup is pretty good and convenient, if you don't feel like the hassle

LukeLinusFanFic reacted to Downkey in Looking to upgrade
Upgrade to another stick 8gb of 2666mhz RAM. (So you have 16GB).
Also 256GB probably isn't enough, maybe get a 1/2TB HDD (so you have a 256GB SSD + a HDD)

LukeLinusFanFic got a reaction from JohanKjeldahl7 in I need help
This is nice! GTX980Ti, unreasonably strong PSU, early age AIO water cooling.
I think a fun practice would be to take everything out, clean it (ofc) and reassemble it nicely. Maybe even get a new case if you are feeling like it.

LukeLinusFanFic got a reaction from Downkey in Build Appraisal
Hmm. It's a bit problematic to buy a computer that will have Photoshop and games with only 500 gigs of storage. NVMe isn't that necessary, Switch to a more generic 2.5'' SSD with 1 TB (could be like 10-$20 more, but definitely worth it.)
Kill the fans, and maybe get a cheaper mother board (they don't really impact performance that much). I think that with that you can fit a 3070 in your budget, which is a way better value than the 5700.

I would seriously trust a ebay seller with 1000+ positive feed back and hundreds sold before I trust this site.
The privacy policy is listed as being updated in March of 2000 but the domain was created this year...I would say they legit copy pasted some one else's privacy policy and posted it..

The cheap keys are usually from the grey market. Unused oem licenses from cheaper countries and such. If you don't feel comfortable with doing so, you're welcome to buy the full licence. It's always 99$, unless the box itself is on sale somewhere.
As far as I know, you can't get a virus from an oem key. So even if you buy it on eBay (and use PayPal for security), and it doesn't work, you're only out 3$. Imo, the only reason not to do it is moral. And I think you can guess what I think.

LukeLinusFanFic reacted to .Apex. in EV startup Lucid announces their cars capable of over 800km in range and the fastest charging
I wouldn't consider the range specification from different companies comparable because they probably have different standards as with any company that estimates a battery's performance in certain tasks, it only has a 113KWh Battery powering 1080 HP in dual motors, things just don't add up.
Competition is great but it would be problematic if companies started pulling numbers out of their ass to compete

LukeLinusFanFic reacted to porina in Will it be good enough? for the RTX 3000
Don't write off your 9400F. Certainly don't replace it with a 9600F as that gets you only a little more clock but doesn't really change the situation. I'd suggest you stick it out with the 9400F and see how it goes, I think it will be less of a problem than you think. If you later decide you really need to upgrade, I would look at the 9700 at a minimum to make the difference worth it.
As for power supply, what do you currently have? The 3070 at rated 220W isn't too difficult to drive. A good quality 450W PSU can be sufficient, although a 550W would obviously give more headroom.

LukeLinusFanFic reacted to dizmo in Building my first PC. Is it compatible?
It's compatible. The 970 is expensive, you'll get similar performance from something like an SX8200 Pro.
As for the questions about compatibility, if you go to the Asus website and check the manual you'll find your answers. They also have a RAM QVL list that will tell you if the RAM has been checked to work with the motherboard.
