  1. https://hothardware.com/news/sapphire-amd-radeon-rx-5800-5900-navi-navi-20 Here is the leaked filling: As Always: This answers the question, Are we getting more variations of the Vega architecture? Yes we are. My guess is the R5900 will be aimed at the 2080 TI and 4K gaming, while the 5500 would be aimed at 1080P gaming. These leaks are fun!
  2. AMD Ryzen 7 3800X GeekBench: https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/13567135 Looks like it competes with the i7-9800X for single core perf and the i7-9900X in multi-core.
  3. https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3077758/amd-navi-revealed-linux-display-driver-code The leak came from https://twitter.com/tum_apisak?lang=en Side Leak: Apisak also has a possible leak of a Intel Core i7-10510U on geekbench https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/13535829 and a 10210U https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/13535623 Personal: Its a good year to be shopping for computer parts, I haven't seen this much competition between all the makers in a long time. By christmas season we should have had new products and lots of price drops. Enjoy.
  4. Ive been waiting 2 years to upgrade my 290x and I must say the lack of choice in the past 2 years has been awful. I'll wait another month to see what AMD and NVidia have to offer this year.
  5. https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-radeon-rx-5700-(navi)-aib-customized-cards-available-in-august.html Small Tidbit of News on the 5700XT and 5700. This should appease those worried about the blower config. Ive been waiting 2 years to upgrade my 290x and I must say the lack of choice in the past 2 years has been awful. I'll wait another month to see what AMD and NVidia have to offer this year.
  6. A mid market CPU that beats out my i7-6700, I think its time to consider upgrading
  7. Well I now have many options to replace my R290. This is great year to get a GPU. Also the prices are dropping on all the older hardware like Vega 56 and 1070 ti.
  8. Here is the explanation from RedHat: https://access.redhat.com/articles/1377393
  9. 2070 MSRP as of today is $499, It started out at $599(founders). 5700XT MSRP is $449
  10. Did some quick maths to get an idea of perf increase. I took 6 results from Vega56 and the 2070 for the Witcher 3 from 6 different sources each. (1440P) the Vega 56 Averaged 73 FPS and the 2070 averaged 83 FPS adding the reported 105% increase over the 2070 it would put the 5700XT at around 87 FPS. it also shows its about a 120% increase over the Vega 56.
  11. This is exactly what I expected and I'm going to get an 5700 if the reviews match what they showed. From the CPU side, that was a decent boost in performance.
  12. It was only 95% down if you used Google DNS, if you used Cloudflare or any other non google DNS anything non google hosted would work.
  13. Huawei could use this to make the US show its hand on why they issued the Ban and see the "evidence" if there is any. This will be an interesting court case if it goes through.
  14. The Server or Enterprise market is slow to move. It's going to take time for AMD to penetrate it. The last time AMD was part of the server market they left it with a generation of Opterons that could not compete with Intel and nothing to upgrade to. this made for a painful and expensive upgrade. If Intel cant keep up with the Chip demand AMD could take a bite out of their market. Also people are still talking about Specter and all those vulnerabilities and the performance loss due to the fixes.
  15. Most Canadians who cross over don't have to worry about this. He went to Guatemala and Columbia which are drug producing countries and said he went there to learn Spanish. it a bit suspicious. which is probably why the CBSA agents tagged him. but in this case the Attorney\Client privilege needs to be respected and it will probably head up to the higher courts.
  16. That's true, the concept was announced in 2017 but I never saw any news about it since it was released. I think its a pretty cool kit.
  17. https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/vrbackpack/overview.html?jumpid=in_r11260_us/en/psg/vr_ready_workstations/productmodule-backpacklearnmore I havent seen any news on this so I dont have a link other than to HP's website. Here are some of the points they are making: Was this or the HP VR headset ever reviewed by Linus?
  18. I think this is the best point to come out of all of this. It's quite amazing that they are able to push out those Frames at that speed for a really good looking game. even a old R9 290 or 1060 is able to get a good 60 frames @ 1080P for something this new and good looking.
  19. This is aimed right at Intel's C series chips used in NASes, SAN's, Next generation Firewalls, Enterprise Switching equipment and more... its a huge market that AMD use to have a presence in. looks like they are looking to get back in there.
  20. This is correct, but it changes every once in a while, This is why per core performance is still king in Database operations and Core Count is king in VDI environments.
  21. I can tell you that I work for a pharma Subcontractor as a Sysadmin. We generally purchase about 10 PC\Laptop a year. It was Intel based for a long while since the Previous AMD offering were sub par. But now its an even playing field which is nice. Here is a reddit post talking about the delays. https://old.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/b8rtzd/red_vs_blue/
  22. The wait time for servers and some desktops with Lenovo, Dell and HP is really not helping Intel right now. Some CPU's have a current wait time of 6 months plus. We are moving to AMD based lenovo's for our next laptop batch as we can get them sooner and at a decent price.
  23. Its getting a lot of good reviews on most tech sites, I'm quite intrigued now. I love that high Pixel density.
