  1. There doesnt seem to be a single teardown of the Strix 2080, only the TI version. i think i will just order some pads for every thicnes and see what i can do.
  2. I need to replace Thermal paste and pads on my card for thermal reasons. I was only able to find dimensions for the thermal pads in waterblock manuals from EK. According to those i need : 2 times 0.5x100x16mm for the memory 1 1x120x16mm for the mosfet 2 0.5x120x16mm for the coils I dont know if those are the dimensions i need for my Strix card. Has anyone here done it in the past and can confirm or give the correct specs?
  3. 15 c outside, 20 at max inside, airflow is good, the air comming out the back is cool.
  4. i have set Core clock to -150, and power limit to 60%, its underclocked if anything.
  5. I have been using my Strix 2080 for Ethereum mining, the past 4 days. Today i checked temps with Hardware monitor and noticed, that the hotspot maxed out at 99c (with fans at 45%, reported temp to afterburner : 64c) Its not only getting that hot when mining, gaming has the same result. Im not sure how that can be when the reported temp to Afterburner is so much lower. Should i replace my Thermal paste / Thermal pads. Im still inside my warranty period, should i call asus customer service? I included some screens below. https://imgur.com/a/A6FnUod
  6. im using the charger from from microsoft, that came with the surface. With cycling i meant, that i charge to 80%, disconect the charger and then use it normaly down to 10% and then start charging again. Thanks for helping.
  7. I bought a surface pro 7 and want to make sure it will last me as long as possible. I read a lot of different things online about leaving your device plugged in vs using the battery from 10% - 80%, and i dont know who to trust. When i use my device plugged in, is the battery bypassed, or does it kill my battery life faster?
  8. Bought a new headset (Virtuoso RBG Wireless) and it has a suttle background noise. i have tested it in both wireless and wired, doesnt change anything. It is the same kind of noise you get, when you plug in speaker boxes and crank the Volume slider up to 100%. if you have that seperate Volume controll, its not a problem, since you can just put Windows Volume at 100% and the Volume on the hardware to lets say 10%. The noise is gone and you still have a controll over the Volume. My old headset was wired and also had a seperate Volime Slider, so noise wasnt a problem. The Viruoso RBG also has a Volume silder, but that one doesnt controll the Volume of the headphone itself, it controlls the windows software Volume slider. Meaning im now stuck with the background noise. Does anyone know a way to deal with this?
  9. well thanks to everyone for helping me out. I got a pice of cardboard taped in front of the socket, its in a anti statik bag, and i will wrap that in bubble wrap.
  10. well im going to wrap it in bubble wrap and a antistatik bag, so it might be safe, but id rathe not take chances. also the buyer might not be too happy to recieve it wihtout any protection
  11. Im currently selling part from my old prebuild system. Since it was a prebuild i dont have the original packaging for the parts. I managed to get my hands on some Anti stattick bags, but i dont have the piece of plastik that protects the pins in the socket (intel z97) i still have 5 days until the auction is over and i need to ship. Does anyone have an Idea on how to substitute it? Can i just take a piece of cardboard and tape it on top?
  12. so i browed a little and so far im very disapointed, only bad deals it seems. but i think i found the ones that are somewhat decent, but i still dont know https://www.dell.com/de-de/work/shop/dell-notebooks/inspiron-15-5000/spd/inspiron-15-5584-laptop/bn55410 this one has realy good specs, and is for that so much cheaper than the other models, that there musst be a huge tradeof im not seing and these 2 seem to be almost identical besides the name and battery, so why is the price diff so huge. https://www.dell.com/de-de/work/shop/dell-notebooks/latitude-3400/spd/latitude-14-3400-laptop/s016l340014deat https://www.dell.com/de-de/work/shop/dell-notebooks/latitude-5500/spd/latitude-15-5500-laptop/s005l550015deat im completely lost
  13. alright im going to look at the things you reccomended. one more question, what about dedicated GPU and battery life ?
  14. Why would that laptop be bad? has a ryzen 5 2500U with Vega 8 41 watthour battery 8 gb ram, wich is enough 256gb ssd is enough and upgradeable
  15. Need to buy a Laptop for college, and im unsure what to get. My thought process is that getting a model with a Ryzen 5 will last me longer, and Vega integrated Graphics are way better than intel ones. I will mostly use it to take notes or browse. But id like to be able to play some light games like League of Legends on it from time to time. I dont know if i can trust intel integrated graphics with that. And i dont know how having a deticated GPU will affect battery life if only using light applications like office or a browser. Can anyone recommend something from about 400-700€ For now i would buy hp 255 G7 NOTEBOOK (6UK06ES) wich should be able to run League and has a decent battery. I feel like i could be missing out on some good deals not looking at any intel modes but i dont know what to look for.
