  1. Actually, rather than ask you about my planned solution, maybe I can just tell you the problem and then get your expertise on what you might do to fix it. Basically, I love this GPU I have, but it does not have a 0db fan stop mode when it is idle, which makes me very sad. If I could flip a switch and have it be off when the GPU who is idling and then go back to GPU-managed when there is load, that would be perfect. Thoughts on the best solution? As described above, my idea was to control the fans with the motherboard, set them to low or off while in linux, and set them to basically run heavy all of the time when in windows for games. By default, the gpu's bios will not let the fan go below 37%, which is like 1200 RPMs and seems unnecessary for idle when the heat sink does not even get warm.
  2. Thanks -- could you elaborate? Like this? https://www.amazon.com/ELEGIANT-12V-Temperature-Controller-Board/dp/B016OA7KNE Like when people water cool, how does this work?
  3. Thank you both for input. 1. Plan to control via Asus Qfan control: profile 1 for linux, dc control, low-inaudible, no games, only idle; basically enforce 0db fan when idle since this card doesn't have it. profile 2 for windows, bind to system temp conservatively (ramp up fast) OR Use this, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MSXN4VW/?coliid=I20X4PSD4YBI1I&colid=3AW1YXBY1A6FK&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it, then plug with another adapter back into card fan header?
  4. hi, I recently purchased 4-pin GPU fan to 4-pin PWM motherboard header adapter, I'm wondering if it's going to work from my intended application: https://www.moddiy.com/products/Mini-4%252dPin-GPU-to-4%252dPin-Fan-Adapter.html I have a Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 TI Mini, and the fans are a little noisy and have no 0db mode at idle, so I'm wondering if I can use this adapter to run the fans on the video card off of one of my motherboard 4pin pwm fan headers. Will it connect and work properly, pulling safe current and voltage? Will the video card still work if nothing is plugged into its pcb onboard fan header (for example, some systems won't boot up if there is no CPU fan detected)? As long as the fan is spinning fast enough to keep the card under its T-junction temperature, I should not have any issues, is that correct? Thank you so much for any help! Please see picture. PS: last q: Is the cable I bought essentially the same as this one? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0713P7X78/?coliid=I3VIFYQ5MK1SLA&colid=3AW1YXBY1A6FK&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it The card's connectors: The adapter I bought:

Fun fact: I have not enabled XMP, I don't know…

Technically, this is the manufacturer specified profile that they build into the memory so that it can achieve maximum performance, because Jedec does not allow memory timings higher than a certain level like 2400 MHz. In practical terms, it is often used by motherboard manufacturers as a global setting to enable fast clocks, and in the case of my 3000 MHz kit, the XMP profile actually included a BCLK overclock, which I am not a fan of. In my opinion, the best thing to do is to look up the XMP settings for your memory, and then choose a reasonable manual clock that does not exceed those settings. In some – yeah XMP sucks. =)
  9. Try using this to remove all graphics drivers and then try again with a different AMD driver. https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

  14. See DM. it's not an illuminati mystery or anything, I don't want to over hype it. =) That's nice of you give your old PC to your brother!
  15. haha, s340 elite. The graphics card is a GT 710, and there is a very specific reason why this build uses that card that we aren't allowed to talk about in this forum (it's good for compatibility for operating systems that are not windows or Linux). Model ship is the USS Rio Grande, just there for fun.
  16. That sounds like it would work but I would be afraid to contaminate the connectors. I assume it's not conductive?
  17. You're right and I'm 99% sure I did, just a matter of holding clip open and pulling at the same time.
  18. Agree that's definitely important =). as far as I could tell it was, but it's kind of hard to hold the clip open and pull with even force in a tight case space. Good advice though. =)
  19. I had to remove the 24 pin connector from my motherboard the other day, and I swear I thought I was going to break the motherboard plug. This is in my new-ish Z370 system with an Asus z370-f ROG Motherboard, and I have noticed other really tight ports on this board as well, such as the HDMI port and the display port. Have you guys had the same experience? It made me so nervous that I decided to plug it back in with some slack rather than route it behind the case bar, but friends and helpful people on the forums here have told me that at least the cables themselves can take a lot of stress.
  20. Dude, wicked! That's awesome, it turned out really cool. It wasn't bad at all before, but I really like how unique it is now. I got really close to buying the S340 Elite Limited Purple Edition when I built my most recent computer, that case would probably look really cool with @seoz's color style as well. In the end, the blue version won out for my s340, but now I'm thinking about painting it. And I was perfectly happy with it before you posted as well, thanks a lot. ?
  21. I always thought that they should just offer the side window from the elite to buy in order to upgrade the regular S340, I think it's the same case structure and I've never really used the front panel HDMI passthrough or any of the other elite features. But for the white version I really like the reg. S340 because you can get one that's white on the outside but black on the inside. Anyway, it looks really cool with that white video card, I like your OCD determination to get a matching white card. =) When I mentioned the RGB controller I was talking about the little thing you put on the bar (pic), It all looks really nice with the purple glow. I put a little star trek engineering badge on mine. geeky, i know. ? PS: I also noticed that you routed your 24 pin power cable under that bar. That is originally how I had mine, but I felt like the force I had to put on it to bend it through that space was pretty high. Did yours fit a little more smoothly?
