  1. Quick question – I have been considering upgrading from the 550 W EVGA G3 power supply to the 1000 watt model, Still from the G3 series. I was wondering, can I just swap out the power supply unit and use the same modular cables that the 550W one came with, plugging them into the back of the new 1000 watt model, so that I don't have to redo the power cabling for my build? Thanks. Here is what the back of each unit looks like:
  2. Arrived in the mail today, 2 days earlier than the most recent update they gave me and a whole week earlier than the original estimate. Definitely real. Congrats to everyone that got one, they are on their way.
  3. Brexit? lol dunno! It seems like it is going to happen though, you might just need to be a little patient. ?
  4. It's $180 after an immediate $20 discount, and you can get it down to the equivalent of $130 with a little creativity. It was 199, same price as Amazon; -$20 instant discount; -$30 Newegg gift card via their 15% back promotion; -$20 mail in rebate. If you actually do the rebate, that works out to $130 for an RX 570. Pretty sweet. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125965&cm_re=AORUS_Radeon_RX-_-14-125-965-_-Product In theory you could also try to sell the AMD bundle if you don't want the games. Actually I would appreciate if anyone has advice on how to do that? I'm not interested in these particular games: Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, the Star Control: Origins reboot, and Rebellion’s 1930s-themed shooter Strange Brigade.
  5. Just got confirmation that mine shipped with tracking number and will arrive tomorrow, awesome. That's way earlier than they said originally, so yours might be coming sooner than expected too.
  6. I don't know very much about it either, It just seemed like a good price for people who are interested in playing with it.

  8. Sweet -- Amazon is promising mine by next Monday or earlier, after a few updates from them It definitely seems like the real thing. Rock on.
  9. Really good sign... "We have good news! We're able to get your order to you sooner than we originally promised. Your new estimated delivery dates are listed below. 10. Thank you. I've been trying to keep my hopes in check as well, because I've also ordered stuff in this situation before and have had the order canceled. But it's now 9:30 AM the next day and the order is still listed as valid, I think you are correct that if there's any chance it will go through it's because it's Amazon. This is kind of a weird case because unlike those situations where the price is off by a factor of 10, this price was well below market value but still within the realm of reasonableness. So, fingers crossed!
  11. lol, either we all get one or none of us do, that's the stand I'm taking. ?
  12. This is probably a price listing mistake that won't be honored, so I don't want to get your hopes up too much, but I just ordered one and it let my order go through at least. I may be killing my chances of getting one for this price by posting it here where they might get a lot more orders, but I felt like it was a good thing to do. Karma and all. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B076S4RH6K/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all This is for the inventory being sold directly by Amazon. They are currently out of stock and due back in stock on October 26, which is usually another strike against them honoring the price – if it's backordered – but we'll see! Update: it's no longer available for that price on the Amazon US store as of 1:49 AM Pacific. Not sure about the UK or Australian stores. Happy hunting! Good luck to anyone who may have nabbed one. Note that the Amazon US listing for the black edition 1070 Is still going for $290, posted by @PacketMan to the hot deal section as well. It's not as good as the deal for the 1070 TI, but it still $100 below the prevailing price elsewhere. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KVZBNY0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=linus21-20&th=1
  13. That actually makes a lot of sense, I read in some other reviews that gigabyte has had quality control issues with GPU fans for the last few years and that they are not using double ball bearing fans. not sure if that means it will eventually wear out and break or if it will just make an annoying noise but otherwise work as expected. The noise when the fans are running normally is not as much of a pleasant whoosh as I am used to, so I think you could be totally right about that.
  14. It's a definite buzzing or vibrating, it's like there is a mini Rumble motor attached to the card that gets triggered when the fans turn off or on. my best guess is that there is loose plastic somewhere in there, and when there is a sudden change in fan RPM it rattles around a bit. based on your feedback, with the same card as me, I'm thinking it's probably defective and I should exchange it. Thanks!
  15. I asked this q a couple days ago specifically of owners of AMD gigabyte graphics cards, but I wanted to ask Gigabyte GPU owners in general since I'm still trying to decide if there's something wrong with my card or not. I just installed a new gigabyte RX 580, and I really like it except for one thing – when the fans go from spinning to stopped, there is a brief buzzing noise that occurs, and then silence. I'm wondering if the blades are rubbing against the frame as RPMs get low. Does this happen with your card? Edit: It's a definite buzzing or vibrating, it's like there is a mini rumble motor attached to the card that gets triggered when the fans turn off or on. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y3V1K81?tag=amz-mkt-chr-us-20&ascsubtag=1ba00-01000-org00-mac00-other-nomod-us000-pcomp-feature-pcomp-wm-8-wm-3-wm-1-wm-4&ref=aa_pcomp&th=1 @Spudbilly mentioned that their Gigabyte card does this as well.
  16. That's really interesting, it's a different model but it Is an RX 4/5xx With fan stop? I guess that makes me feel better, although it is a really loud buzz! Thank you for your reply. I thought something might be wrong with the power delivery or fans, but maybe it's just something weird about how the bios is shutting them off.
  17. I just installed a new gigabyte RX 580 tonight, and I really like it except for one thing – when the fans go from spinning to stopped, there is a brief buzzing noise that occurs, and then silence. I'm wondering if when the RPMs drop below right before they stop, the blades are rubbing against the frame or something? Does this happen with your card? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y3V1K81?tag=amz-mkt-chr-us-20&ascsubtag=1ba00-01000-org00-mac00-other-nomod-us000-pcomp-feature-pcomp-wm-8-wm-3-wm-1-wm-4&ref=aa_pcomp&th=1
  18. All right, so I did this tonight kneeling on a cardboard box and with my ESD bracelet on, and my computer totally blew up smoke everywhere! Just kidding, it was all good. Thanks.
  19. I have This chrome garment rack right next to my computer, Would this work?Thank you for the info. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007OBFA8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  20. Hi, This is a general question for veteran computer builders. I've been building for a long time, but I've always made sure to work on a tile or hardwood surface and wear a bracelet to protect against ESD. I'm not sure how big of a deal it is, but I'm cautious anyway. But it's annoying to have to lug my computer out of my bedroom every time I want to change one little thing. So my question is: If I am wearing and ESD bracelet attached to something large and metal like a steel bunkbed, Is that enough to keep my computer protected, even if I'm working on a carpet floor? If not, what if I did the same but also put a piece of cardboard between me and the carpet? Thanks, happy building.
  21. Just curious if I can use that as a quick way to prevent Windows from seeing the drive without having to remove it. Thanks!
  22. Oh man, I do totally have an Asus motherboard and the temperature sensor in the box never used, I can definitely do this that way. I'm about 50-50 at this point, if I do it it will be just for the sake of experimentation and seeing how it works in addition to attempting to achieve the quiet. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
  23. Interesting -- are there any fan controllers that have an external knob/slider on a pci bracket? Are GPUs like CPUs in that they will auto-downclock if they get too hot, rather than overheat? Thanks!
