So, to begin with I was bored after finishing Electrical Engineering at University, and between waiting to start my job, I built a computer case.
I had some parts laying around and thought why not!!
So to give you an idea before I create the build log and show off my abomination, I'm going to talk temps.
So the case is as follows
Asus crosshair formula V mother board
hd7950 GPU - (Shroud removed and fans replaced with 2 high flow fans)
AMD fx8350 - (212 Evo heatsink with no fans on
case has 4 x 120mm intake fans and 2 120mm exhaust fans.
Hard to explain how I set the airflow up so will have to wait until I get the pics done.
So, to begin with, its summer here in lovely South Wales UK and ambient temp inside the room im in with all external doors and windows open is 22c.
First test of the computer was carried out at idle and the results are below.
Cpu - 25 c
GPU - 31 c
case temp - 27 c
Then I launched up some games and left them running. First was sniper elite 3 on ultra
Gpu - 60 c
cpu - 35 c
Now I have launched Prime95 to test the cpu
cpu temp reached and stayed at 47 c
My question is, are these temps acceptable for only air cooling? As none of the fans are right up against components would I benefit from high flow fans?
