  1. USD, please forgive my uneducated ass
  2. I realize this is a big window for displays but there are just too many on the market and I’m looking for people’s opinions on their own monitors they use. What I’m looking for in a monitor is something that can preferably be at 1440p, 144 refresh rate, and 27in screen size.. I plan to buy two monitors and was going to have the second be 1080p at 144 refresh rate and 27in so I am hoping for a recommendation on both.. Im also hoping people have good things to say about monitors closer to $300 as I only have $400 currently I can spend but am saving up...
  3. The laptop is a MSI G62 7RE.. Intel I-7 7700HQ, GTX 1050ti and 16gb ram but not sure the speed of the ram.. Is it worth while upgrading the drive or sinking my money into something more recently released? I have been interested in LGs gram as a thin and light to use for school but I thought I’d ask about the laptop I have now before ditching it.. Also on a side note does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with an old laptop that you don’t want to use anymore? I have an 8yo dell that I originally used for school but I’m not patient enough to even get through the initial loading of the laptop to use for anything outside of a paperweight
  4. I’m stuck at work for the next 3 hours not doing too much so I should hopefully be able to reply between now and then relatively quickly if anyone has any questions or clarifications I need to make
  5. Hello, I have an old MSI laptop which I bought a while back intending to use it as a lan rig however after a couple of RMA issues I ended up giving up on it.. I plan to go back to school and figured I could at least use it as a school laptop but it has a painfully slow HDD that I’d like to switch to a SSD and was just wondering if I’d have any issues with taking the HDD out, putting in the SSD, and installing a fresh copy of windows onto the new drive? Or if perhaps there is a cheaper option that doesn’t involve buying a new windows license?
  6. I am in the process of building a PC for my brother as a standard web surfing rig but something he could put a graphics card into, in the future if he wanted. Everything seems to be fine except I cant get the pc to display on my monitor. Im getting a VGA light on the motherboard which the manual says means the motherboard isnt detecting a graphics card. I am not planning on putting a graphics card into the PC right now so I am wanting to know how I can get the PC to post past this error? Or do I HAVE to get a graphics card to be able to post? Ill post a link below to PC part picker showing the parts im using for the build. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Z6nNp8
  7. Gonna get right to the issue here.. Was using a smsl q5(0)? pro to power my Klipsch r15m stereo bookshelf speakers and a Klipsch sw120.. Everything was fine but I wanted a headphone out and Bluetooth so I upgraded to the computer topping mx3.. I also changed my speaker cables from some self made ones to proper micca 14 gauge wires and a longer sub cable to position the sub further away.. Everything works the same except for two issues.. First issue is that when I turn my amplifier off my sub bumps twice pretty hard, enough that it actually startled me the first time.. The only change to my sub is the new cable that is single ended instead of Y split.. The other is whenever I try using foot bar to play music it gives a pop up saying the device isn’t detected (was working perfectly fine up until I switched devices). I can give some more specific details like the specific cable for the sub I had before and after and the exact message I get on foot bar after I get back home.. Just hopping to get some suggestions as it’s inconvenient to have my sub bump so loud whenever I turn it off (I live in an apartment lol)
  8. Hello, First timer to forums here. My issue is ive fallen in love with klipsch's R 15-M bookshelf speakers and bought them to use for a stereo set up on my computer without having a good enough understanding of how higher end audio equipment functions. I quickly realized they are not powered and ran out to buy an amplifer [(Pyle PCA4) (2x120 Watt Home Audio Speaker Power Amplifier)]. The amplifier has been doing just fine powering the speakers. My concern after reading more online is talk about the need for a pre-amp and in the case of PC set ups, a DAC as well. So I was hoping to get some advice from a forum about any recommendations on what I should get to have the optimal experience and most importantly, not damage my new treasures. Right now with my budget im looking at just spending money on what is absolutely necessary (bare essential equipment). Currently I have the speakers up on stands sitting at ear level, wired up with banana clips to 16 gauge wire running 6ft to the aforementioned amplifier (amazon link to amplifier page https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036VO6G4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), and the amplifier is being fed audio from my PC via a generic brand AUX cable. I plan on putting them to better use in a surround sound theater system later when I have the room and disposable income, but for now id like to break them in and enjoy them as a stereo set up on the PC. I hope I gave enough information to allow advice to be given. Will check up on forum regularly to try and give any more information people might need. PS. please no trolling or sarcasm, really just want serious answers from knowledgeable people who have an appreciation for the HiFi life
