  1. yes, not only normal but it is designed that way.
  2. you ask a question, then get pissy when people answer that question because you don't like the answer, and 3 short paragraphs is hardly a lot of time out of my day even at my relatively slow typing speed.
  3. I don't need to prove it, I know how fast my system boots and frankly I couldn't give a shit if you believe me or not, short of filming it and putting it on youtube I have no way to prove it other than my word, and frankly I'm not going to do that anyway. If you want internet points for arguing about what people are telling you then sorry, nil points from me to you. I have a relatively clean install of windows, run minimal apps on startup and disabled the windows password login when I timed it, If you don't want to believe me then I wont lose any sleep over it.
  4. you don't even need the fastest nvme drives to go sub-10 seconds. my 512gb WD black isn't anyway near as fast as the top end nvme drives but still smokes pretty much everything else.
  5. 9 seconds from power on button to the Windows screen with all startup programs loaded.
  6. very, very, VERY unlikely. Simply too many programs out there from too many publishers. Steam is probably the closest thing to it but that's because you download them directly from the Steam store.
  7. for me it's the cult of Apple I have an issue with, the notion that Apple never does anything wrong and if something inevitably does go wrong then it is automatically your fault, be it holding your phone wrong, doing the wrong kind of video editing on a supposedly top of the range i9 macbook pro with a clearly totally inadequate cooling design and the likes of their apple warranty services, which frankly are atrocious, their recent issues with battery throttling on older models being a perfect example of a company that only care about getting every penny it can out of you.
  8. socks and sandals being spread to yet another generation
  9. DO NOT DEFRAG AN SSD. You can defrag a HDD though, as Tahirmia said a can of air will do most of the work for you in terms of physically cleaning, you can also clear stubborn dust marks like on the edge of fan blades with cotton buds/q-tips, just hold the fan steady with one hand and clean it with the other
  10. it's not like you can get consent to kill a mouse from the actual mouse either or ship them off to Dignitas in Switzerland, being humane has nothing to do with allowing vermin to infest your food, your home, your workplace, your kids. Mice are a very real health hazard to actual human beings. There's literally nothing more humane than preventing actual humans getting diseases from pests. The same goes for rats, pigeons(rats with wings) and other sources of diseases.
  11. cats eat mice, why do you support mice killers with your avatar? Are you a sociopath?
  12. honestly think you should just wait a couple of weeks until Nvidia release the new cards.
  13. and the reason the outsides of the bag may be conductive and the inside isn't is because they are designed as Faraday cages, so any static electrical current is directed towards the outside of the bag and not the contents inside it.
  14. well tbh if someone does choose to open one then it is probably the best place to do it anyway.
  15. just because as usual Apple's poor design of their product internals that has nothing to do with refusing to even repair their own computers. As was pointed out in the video the psu in the iMac pro was very poorly and frankly dangerously designed with no Faraday cage to protect even fully qualified technicians who are still human beings which means even they can still make mistakes.
  16. mice are vermin that spread untold diseases and bacteria through a combination of urine and parasites on their bodies, not to mention they can do massive damage to wiring and other physical areas as well as contaminate food stored in kitchens that you most likely eat. The best way to deal with them is to kill them as fast as possible. Or bring in a lot of cats.
  17. pretty sure you can get a 1050ti for about the same or a little bit more, even a 1050 will probably match or outperform it as well.
  18. charging/connecting phones and tablets is pretty much it for all I can think of.
  19. agree entirely, in years gone by RAM was always talked about as the easiest and cheapest upgrade, that hasn't been the case for a long time especially past 16gb, even 8gb is perfectly fine for general computer use and gaming and with RAM prices as they are it is much more expensive anyway. I was a very recent convert to SSD for a boot drive and a few games and I will never be going back to a HDD for anything other than mass storage. Loading screens in certain games I play really was destroying the experience, WoW in particular, i could portal to Dalaran and go and make a sandwich and cup of tea and still be back before the loading screen finished, I literally took boats to certain areas and the screen was so long the boat had already made the return journey. simply put, even just spending £50-100 on a cheap SSD or even slightly more on a larger and faster drive will give you more benefit in most use cases than going from 8 to 16gb of ram for anything other than video editing.
  20. I just spent more than 2 grand at the vet, luckily I have enough money and credit already to cover it, but if I didn't the first thing out the door would be my rig because it's probably the most valuable thing I own. You joke about selling a kidney, but you literally don't know if he needs the money or not for something far more meaningful than a signature, even if it is on an amazing rig.
  21. It belongs to them, they can chuck it in a landfill, strip it for parts or use it as a coffee table if that's what they choose to do with it. "Deserving or cherishing it is irrelevent. You also don't know why they're selling it anyway, maybe he needs the cash more than a PC for a myriad of different reasons.
  22. hang on, I thought you said you had to register to be drafted for Vietnam? what was that then?
  23. yes, it's really us men who have been discriminated against all this time
  24. mate, the US and UK have been at war for the better part of 20 years nonstop, maybe you seem to have forgotten, unless you think openly invading 3 separate countries(Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq) and having massive military forces still in the likes of Europe, Korea, Japan and half the middle east as well as keeping paramilitary forces in the likes of South America as peacetime. That's not even counting the first Gulf War either. Drafts may solve personnel issues, but they bring a massive raft of other problems with modern military commanders simply don't want. Vietnam was the perfect example of why drafts are bad, not just for the people caught up in them, but the people running the Army as well. Simply put, the army needs women(and men) far more than women need the Army.
