I have a Dell G7 7790, i7 9750H with an NVIDIA RTX 2070 Max-Q Design. It runs flawlessly on AC power/plugged in. Whenever you use the laptop on battery power/unplugged, the GPU core clock plummets to 300 MHZ and memory clock to 150 MHZ. For example, MSI Kombuster was reaching 6 FPS with 720 resolution and default settings. This was a design choice by Dell to save battery life, while majorly sacrificing performance. This made running games unplayable. You couldn't run any game smoothly. You had to plug it in whenever you game, so it wasn't even a mobile gaming laptop, which is what I intended to use when I bought it, regardless of how long a gaming session would last.

I've tried making tweaks and performance adjustments to no avail by following many forum and video posts such as:
Setting every energy saving option to disabled and every battery power option to high performance via Nvidia Control Panel, Geforce Experience, Power Options (including hidden power options available via registry), Battery Performance, Registry Tweaks and Dell battery apps Registry tweaks Downgrading BIOS Overclocking GPU Overclocking/underclocking CPU Formatting Windows 10 Avast antivirus scan
With every option I could think of exhausted, I thought of changing the VBIOS on the graphics card. This fixed the problem. After trying some similar VBIOS's to the Dell RTX 2070 Max-Q through the Techpowerup website, I managed to find a Razer RTX 2070 Max-Q VBIOS that was compatible with my graphics card. As soon as I made the change, I saw a massive improvement in performance. I am now reaching 21 FPS with MSI Kombuster. It is not on par with AC power/plugged in (which is 47 FPS on MSI Kombuster), but I am satisfied with the sacrifice of performance to save battery life.

So, to increase your performance on battery usage on laptops, you must upgrade or use a different VBIOS. To do this, follow these guidelines:
Use nvflash through an elevated CMD. You should only need to use 3 commands, which are 'Save VBIOS firmware to file', 'Remove write protect' and 'Update VBIOS firmware' Be sure to backup your current VBIOS with nvflash to a .ROM file Visit techpowerup and download their VBIOS's. Find one similar to your graphics card. Match up your default core and memory clock to the ones on techpowerup. You can view your default core and memory clock in NVInspector You will know the VBIOS you tried to use does not work/fails if your graphics card in device manager will stay disabled. To fix it, it should be as easy as updating it back to your original VBIOS I hope anybody finds this information useful. I can finally game anywhere I want.

I haven't had any of these in for repair yet so I am not 100% on parts availability.  Sometimes when Apple gets low on stock levels they will only approve warranty repairs until stock level reach a higher level so maybe that is what is going on.  I attached a screen shot of the stock prices the exchange prices are $899 for the logic board and $449 for the display

You can do a multi-part repair although your probably right about the cost.  A screen and logic board will be almost as much as a new machine.  If I had the serial number I could look the cost of both parts up and confirm.

As for customer retention they usually need to see at least 2 repairs already done on the unit before they will replace the whole unit unless the unit has a known defect.

This is bullshit.  I am an ACMT with iMac Pro 2017 certification.  I took the initiative to finish the ATLAS training and our AASP shop can do iMac Pro's now (after ordering a few custom repair fixtures like a specialized wifi support bracket).  What you have is an under-trained retail location.  Double under-trained, because they also have provisions for accepting a customer machine and shipping it to a central repair depot (at least in the US.)
To my knowledge there is provisioning for Apple to send you shipping materials to accomplish the same task, but that might be for warranty/AppleCare events only.
Apple might be interested to know that they have a retail location that cant service current products.

I'm an Certified Apple repair tech that works for a premium service provider in Utica, NY and I run into this bullshit with Apple all the time. The Apple store goes off the Visual Mechanical Inspection guide. In the VMI it outlines that unauthorized modification of any mac computer automatically stop them from being able to setup a repair in GSX. Myself I don't give a shit as long as there aren't any missing parts I will order the screen and VHB strips to re-attach the screen for you. We get customers all the time that come in that went to the Syracuse Apple store and were denied service. Like today a women came in to have me put a new battery in her Iphone 6s, Apple wouldn't do it because a LCI was slightly tripped inside the phone. The LCI was very light pink, not even red, so I installed a new battery. If you guys were closer I would for sure setup the repair and get this done for you the day after I order the parts. If your up for a road trip my offer stands.   You can send me a private email with the serial and I will setup the repair in GSX to make sure I can get the parts.   I can attached a screen shot of me logged into GSX so you know i'm not a scammer.   REPLY

The loading times for the HTML5 player are a bit faster thanks to super fast Javascript. So in short, the quality cap is higher (Silverlight 720p vs HTML5 1080p) and load times are a bit better. The biggest plus is removing Microsoft's proprietary software known as Silverlight from your system completely (I assume most people have it installed only for Netflix).

Thanks for all the feedback. I appreciate it.

One thing I really want people who long for the good 'ol days to consider is this: Have I really changed, or have you changed?

The timing of this post is particularly interesting since it comes RIGHT AFTER I uploaded not one, but two motherboard videos in just a few days... What is more "classic LTT" than a motherboard overview video? Yes, it's better shot, and I have a chance to gather my thoughts BEFORE the video rather than during it (scripting), but is it POSSIBLE that you just don't need to hear about every motherboard anymore since there just isn't really that much to say about them?

The reasons you see me branching out are not due to a focus on money, but because I believe in the longer term it will be better for the audience. #1 is that I try not to say or do the same thing twice if I can avoid it. If that means that I don't unbox all three capacities of the same power supply the way that I used to, then so be it. #2 is that I let my own personal interests and projects guide the direction of the content because if I'm not actually passionate about it, you guys will clue in for sure and then this is all just pointless.

I'm sorry to those folks that aren't as interested in headphones as I am, but the content will continue to be about the things I think are interesting, not just PC tech.

Also some of the complaints here seem to be pure bandwagoning... The folks that are saying that *I* have sold out to ASUS because *Logan* made however many ASUS videos with JJ... Are you for real? CES coverage aside, I've made 5 ASUS product videos this calendar year. FIVE. If anything you guys should be hounding me about not adequately covering them given what a MASSIVE player they are in the PC space...

And frankly many of the other criticisms are like that... Calling what we do a commercial compared to the older-style unboxings is laughable. GO WATCH THE OLD STUFF. I'M LITERALLY READING THE BOX ON CAMERA. I have no prior experience with the product. It is PURE commercial. Now go watch one of our recent reviews (bear in mind not everything we do is something I'd consider a review) like this one:

Not a commercial. Contains many comparisons to other products. Ends with a recommendation against the product in the video.

As for us not going to Computex, quite frankly it's the viewer-base that spoke on this one. Last time I checked our Computex coverage last year got 1/2 as many views as our CES coverage, and cost our sponsors well over twice as much. You guys didn't care, so we aren't going this year.

    Computex 2013 coverage: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8mG-RkN2uTyJKThbEAxoGGi8uXxNqnbb

edit: one more thing. Don't take the fact that I'm presenting my arguments here as a dismissal or to mean that I don't care about the viewpoints of my viewers. I truly do. If I didn't care, I would just be like every other YouTuber and ignore your message. I want our videos to make every one of our viewers happy. It's just not always possible

Well said Linus. I think it strange that people seem to want to watch 10 videos a day of you opening product boxes to read the packaging and go "So this is gigabyte motherboard number 297 and wow this one has an extra sata port"

Honestly content like that I would not watch. Tech is expanding. It is no longer just PCs. Look at how technology is expanding, google glass, VR, tablets and phones. Look at how many people have "beats" and other expensive headphones, how many have iphones and samsung galaxy phones.
The PC Enthusiast is becoming less and less relevant as technology becomes more powerful, more convenient and cheaper to buy.

This will be an unpopular opinion, especially on this forum but you guys fail to understand the average consumer. We are in the minority as enthusiasts. I mean look what you can do now on smartphones and tablets. Look how modern games consoles can play high end games, even record and stream them to twitch. YES the experiance is better on PC, we can do 3d, 4k, gsync, sli blah blah. I love that stuff, I hope it never goes away.

But you have to face the facts that technology is adapting, as an audience we have to adapt too. If all you want to watch is Linus unbox 23 different 780 graphics cards, spend ages making slick bench them, and create a graph showing they are all the same thing which we knew anyway, then I am not sure the channel caters for you. Will he review the card? Yes, but probably just once, get it benched, comment on its performance and price and thats it. 780 done, unless something crazy or interesting comes along

Maybe I am one of the few that can see this, maybe people will agree or disagree.

At the end of the day, Linus and his team see the numbers. They can see which videos get views and which dont. While there are some die hard fans that will watch power supply review number number 80 million, if he only gets 2000 views, whats the point? nobody is watcing. If he can review something cool, useful or interesting/different and get 80000 views, then surely he should be making those. Videos people WANT to see, topics people are searching for.
