  1. I got a lot of used hardware lying around along with not a lot but a decent amount of knowledge in managing servers to host things from websites to game servers. I was wondering if it would be worth while to set up my used hardware as servers for people to rent and host their game server or website. I feel pretty confident I can learn how to set it up but my main concern is the internet. At my home I get 220 mbps down, 11 mbps up, with a latency of 14ms. Starting off I plan on having 3 machines running as servers along with partitioning each server into multiple smaller servers. Would my upload speed be a problem for doing this and if so how much does one usually need for this kind of thing? Would it just be better to get a bigger dedicated server from a small provider and partition that off and resell it? I would really prefer option one because if something goes wrong I have more control in fixing things while the second option I am at the mercy of the provider.
  2. As for weight/size I am pretty open to anything thats got good performance/temps. Battery life has always been bad for gaming laptops and whenever I play I plug in my laptop so battery life is not a concern. Location is California.
  3. My current laptop which is the Acer Predator Helios 300 (i7 7700HQ) worked amazing for the first 6 months. Then I started getting heating issues (cpu 100c on gaming max fans). I followed guides to undervolt the cpu, clean it out, replaced thermal paste but nothing was working. I applied liquid metal and it went down to under 90c. After two months it went back up to 100c . I removed the lm and the heatsink was still smooth with just a discoloration where the lm was. I sent it to support in which they replaced the entire heatsink which included the fans. When I received it i was getting temps like when I had lm on. 6 months later I am hitting 97c, tried undervolting, max fan speed, reduce maximum power state, replace thermal paste, applied new heat pads, tried lm again but nothing is working. I am pretty sure its the heatsink again and I think the issue has something to do with the heating pipes or something. I checked it and there is no visible damage just terrible temps. I still have warranty so I could send it back for them to replace the heatsink again but I dont want to get stuck with it breaking again when I run out of warranty + waiting 3 weeks to get the computer back. For this reason I am looking into different laptops, ones that have either a 1070 or 1080 but under 2K USD. All laptops I am seeing either have low performance for the components inside/price or people complain about temps which I am not about to do a repeat on my old laptop. Any suggestions? * When I do get a new laptop I will be transferring over my 1tb 860 evo and 1tb 970 evo if needed so storage isn't much of a problem for me
  4. The temps I listed is when I’m playing games on the highest settings so yes it’s a load. The fans are working and I can hear them. In my post above I said when I put them at max.
  5. Acer predator heilous 300 temps after a couple days of purchase up to 100c in cpu with max fan speed and 95c on gpu. Max limit on gpu I checked is 96c so it’s definitely thermal throttling. I applied thermal grizzly lm to both parts and got 8c ish off original temps and with max fan speed it dropped another 5c. All is good. 3 months latter cpu is at 97c with undervolt max fan speed and gpu is back to 95c. Reapplied lm. Gpu temp is fixed but cpu is 96c at idle. Re applied again but added more lm to cpu. Idle temps seem ok like it was originally. Day later it’s not like brand new temps but it’s a little better. 92c cpu with max fan speed and undervolt and around same temp with gpu. I’m not thermal throttling yet but I’m pretty close. The lm has stained/merged with the copper heatsink. I don’t know what to do rn. Help!
