If your PC still crashed before adding the new RAM, I doubt its due to that, just sometimes mixing RAM modules can cause instability but its probably not the key source of the problem if it was happening before anyway.
Have you been watching your temps during gaming? Do your PC fans get super loud or anything prior to the crash?

Fair enough, I wouldn't imagine it would be an issue just thought i'd check. What about your power supply? What power supply do you have and how many watts?

Do you know the individual speeds of the new corsair vengeance RAM and the speed of the old RAM? If theres a difference this could be causing some instability?

Heyo, sorry to hear about your issue. Have you installed Geforce Experience and checked your drivers are all up to date?
Also, when you say you have 95.91GB RAM, what do you mean? Are you mixing different modules or?

    Maybe in your power options

With a laptop, I believe you have additional settings, such as "plugged to sector" and "battery".

Though it might just be something that's hardcoded into the firmware and not much you can do.

Liquid metal is conductive option so if even a tiny bit spills from CPU (it can happen at any time) it will fry your laptop. If you want the best non-conductive thermal-paste  https://www.thermal-grizzly.com/en/products/16-kryonaut-en this is one of the best ones

A 1070 can run most modern games pretty well, but obviously you'll be missing out on ray tracing for the time being.

In all fairness, a 1070 for the meantime would probably be fine, yes it'd bottleneck the CPU etc, but you'd still get great performance on any new game, just might have to set it to very high instead of ultra.

Go for the 8700k, only slightly more expensive but overall a much more powerful CPU

If you upgrade your GPU, your performance is obviously only going to get better. The extent to which your CPU will be able to cope and keep up with your GPU you cannot really be sure, however an i5 6600 be able to keep up with most modern games whilst running your 1080.

My old gaming PC was running the i5-6600k with a gtx 970 and I could run modern games at medium-high 99% of the time, and the K version of this i5 is only a marginal improvement.

To put it simply, you should be fine to upgrade your GPU, but you won't feel the full benefit until you upgrade your CPU too. You will be able to run 1080p and maybe 1440p, but just tone down the CPU heavy aspects a little to compensate for the lacking of power there.

    Best of luck

Moz-LJP got a reaction from Jurrunio in Question about GSync Compatible
Freesync and G-Sync are essentially the same thing - they reduce input lag and prevent screen tearing therefore offering smoother game play overall.

G-Sync utilises a chip built into the monitor, whereas FreeSync essentially is just some nifty programming.

Therefore, due to the chip, G-Sync performs better than FreeSync, but usually costs more.

I have very similar specs and average around 60-70fps on ultra BFV, but no stuttering etc. Have you verified game files etc etc?

A GTX 1060 is a similar performance card, but a RX 580 is usually £50 or so cheaper.
Seems like you've picked the right thing to me.

130fps on Ultra in BF5? Don't kid yourself, that's hard even for 9900K+2080Ti, even on 1080p.

I've never had a WD drive fail on me, only get slightly crappier over time - I bought a used one and ran it for 2 years on a gaming PC and its still in working condition.

Maybe go for a WD black - little more expensive but faster than the blues.

However, as the others said, used storage is risky business.

    Good luck to ya
