  1. So a few days ago I went to turn on my PC but it wouldn't start and I tried all the basic troubleshoots neither of which fixed the problem. So I sent the pc in for repairs and they gave it back to me today saying that there apparently wasn't anything wrong. I brought the PC back turned it on and everything was fine so I restarted to check BIOS and everything was back to default. Then I turned XMP and restarted and my PC just crashed and wouldn't turn back on. The only way I managed to fix this was to reset the BIOS settings using a jumper cap. And this happens every time I change anything in the BIOS whether that be XMP, OC settings or if I simply turn on TPM 2.0. Now I could just leave the BIOS in default settings but the issue is my 9700k defaults at 4.6GHz which my cooler can't handle and my PC overheats. How can I fix this? Edit: I've using this pc for about 2 years with XMP on and manual OC settings. This is a recent problem. 2. Actually I went into my BIOS and realized my voltage was set to 1.16V not 1.24V. So I changed it to 1.30V and now it seems to be fine. I've been playing for a bit and my CPU usage hasn't gone above 70%. My overall CPU temps are a bit lower as well. Thanks everyone. And I guess I will mark @emosun's answer as the solution since she mentioned the undervoltage thing. I will do further tests and let you guys know. And thanks again.
  3. I OC'd about 6 or 7 months ago. It's using all 8 cores. My CPU isn't throttling. The ambient temperature has decreased now. But I do have a suspicion that it might be the thermal paste because the guy who built my PC (yes I had it built) used way too much thermal paste. I should've said something but I didn't.
  4. But the thing is my CPU normally stays at around 60-70 degrees. This is a recent problem. Even tested with AIDA64 and Cinebench R20. I did thorough stress testing after I OC'd. The temps were decent back then so that's why I'm wondering why it's happening now.
  5. huh wouldn't have expected the CPU usage to be that high. But it's also been worse as of late. But you're right the cooler is pretty bad.
  6. Alright thanks will try it out. But one thing I still don't get is why it's happening now. It didn't use to happen before. I've had this OC for like 6-7 months now.
  7. No neither of them are throttling. The GPU temps are fine (around 68 degrees after playing an hour of RDR2). The CPU goes up to 90 degrees celcius. It probably would go higher if I keep playing.
  8. As the title says I have very high CPU usage when playing games. It doesn't matter what the game is. It could RDR2 or Overwatch or Valorant the CPU usage is always high. But when playing demanding games like RDR2 the CPU usage goes up to 100% while for other games it goes up to 70%. Now this wouldn't be a problem if my temps weren't so high. Also wanna mention that it's not CPU bottleneck since the GPU is also sitting at 100% usage. How can I fix this? 9. Well I get that 150-200 isn't low but it is when you're playing Overwatch at the lowest settings. There's no specific part of the map where the FPS dips that low it's random. I used MSI Afterburner to OC. And I use the Asus VG279QM monitor.
  10. I get low GPU usage and low FPS (around 150-200 and sometimes below 100) at the lowest settings if I overclock my GPU. If I reset my overclock then I get 400 capped at the same settings. This isn't the case for any other game. My GPU usage sits around 40-60% when in game. My CPU usage is around 40% with background apps open. I'm running the game at 1080p. This is very annoying because I can't use the OC settings for any other game because of Overwatch. Please help. 11. So, it's time to get a new pair of headphones. I was looking at gaming headsets but then I thought I listen to a LOT of music so why not get an "audiophile" headphone and the V-Moda Boom Pro Mic to go with it. But I don't wanna break the bank. I know that the SHP9500 is highly regarded but are they still worth it in 2020 or are there better options? One thing to keep in mind that gaming is still a high priority and I can extend the budget for the headphones to maybe $120. Any help would be appreciated
  12. I don't have a multimeter unfortunately. But yes the problem did exist when I had the old socket without the grounding pins.
