heickelrrx got a reaction from WolframaticAlpha in Intel released their 11th Gen Tiger Lake CPU for gaming, "i5 beats Ryzen 9"
the i5 Beating Ryzen 9 in gaming is nothing crazy claim, it's all depend on the clock of both Configuration used for testing, on Laptop environment, it's down how each model are implementing their CPU boosting behavior

thing is, rarely game fully load the 6 core CPU or even 8 core, even today  the Flagship Ryzen 9 perform better at gaming not necessary because it has more core, but because the boost clock is higher than the 6 core model

productivity on the other hand scale well with core count,

Unpopular Opinion : Platform Wise, I think TGL H45 will be superior platform than Cezanne, especially it term on IO, I expect the performance between platform will be very close but TGL IO simply superior

which mean  OEM can slap PCiE 4x for Video card on Intel Laptop and it will has same Bandwidth as PCIe 8x on Ryzen one, which mean they can add more port? maybe more TB idk, let's see what they came out later down the road

    is this standard case?

anyway, GPU Price is very spectacular atm, if you intrested on buying new card, be sure to lookout for the price as well as no one can really say how much GPU price atm, it's really bad and you need to regularly check the pricing and stock atm

but should you want to upgrade the CPU I have something for you, get modern one, in socket upgrade for 1151 kind of meh

    on Newegg, 11400F cost 179$ while 3600 cost 259$

On Review 11400F Lead Both Single Core and Multicore Score on Cinebench

if you say get 3600 over 11400F in any day, I honestly don't know what to say, In socket upgrade not really a thing, you will not upgrade this CPU in at least 3 year, and after 3 year a much modern platform on midrange will exist that will trash even the Flagship 5950x in most workload

like I said, AMD is too expensive for it's price, totally not worth it

heickelrrx got a reaction from Cheburek in [UPGRADE] What would you guys recommend in terms of upgrade?
Both intel and amd will change socket next release, AMD only committed  AM4 for 2020 and Intel always support 2 gen per socket

At the end of the day buy the one give best price/performance, and AMD isn’t there, I don’t see there is reason why pay premium for 3600 over 11400F and 10400F

when the time 3600/10400f/11400f already too slow for your need the new modern, superior midrange offering will exist which is the go to upgrade instead getting higher tier AM4 ryzen

At the end you will be GPU Bound, unless you play CSGO on 1080p Low Setting and complain missing 70 fps once FPS already above 300

Don't fuss so much about Upgradability it will take a years before that CPU hold u back and when it did u might as well as go buy new platform with DDR5 and whatever new tech they sell at that time

I think your earlier Z490 board already correct one, it has good IO, Decent VRM and lot of feature

that B560 from Asrock is entry level, sure it cheaper but it lack of feature since it's the cheapest model of B560 series, it also only have 2 RAM slot, so u might can't upgrade more ram if needed

This is gaming build right? the focus are playing a AAA games, so u don't want to overspend on your CPU, and put most of the budget on GPU

also mind that the PC partpicker do not give GPU the price, please mind that your List are not with Video card

I swap the CPU and the board to save some money without losing much of gaming performance, you'll have more budget for your Video card

Z490 is okay, but please check B560 Board as well, H410 were... very Barebone, and The VRM is no good because it was targeted for i3/ Pentium System

just go with any Z490/B560 board you can fit on that 160$ budget, Throw some Memory Overclocking with High speed memory and u good to go

Once you start making money with your programming job, maybe you can afford a real GPU sometimes in future where the price make sense

in future apple will make all program on Mac Only available on their Store, and will impose 30% cut or 15% depend on the future policy on all software on mac ecosystem.

On my Region, Going Locked Intel is far cheaper than Ryzen, even before 5000 series released, since I am not live in America or Canada but in indonesia, the difference between 30$ can seriously impact buying desicion because when it translated to local currency the difference feel so huge and enough for people to give up overclocking support

Currently I am rocking B460m Aorus Pro + 10400F, the price breakdown is bellow

    10400F : 2.300.000 IDR
    B460m Aorus : 1.800.000 IDR

    when checking AMD Equivalent
    R5 3600 : 3.300.000 IDR
    B450M Aorus : 2.000.000

Sure, can go lower end board, and such but even the CPU already 1.000.000 IDR Premium, which is 1/4 of minimum wage here, giving up overclocking support by going intel allow me to going with better GPU, or even 1 month lunch allowance, and that's how many people build their PC here, and I can see this is happening too on many region which have weaker currency

Ryzen did make 10400F exist and it's such a great CPU, and I hope the next cheap CPU is great too

Not to mention Xeon still the best on market, not by performance, but by overall platform, AMD may have performance leadership, but they still far behind in software side and ecosystem,
