  1. ...you are aware that there are a TON of phones out there for only a few hundred $$ right? You don't HAVE to buy a flagship $1k+ device. And a lot of these arguments are for older people who wouldn't be spending that much on a device anyway. Plus here in the US pretty much every carrier has phone payments built into your bill so you can get a high end phone for like ~$30-$40 a month and nothing up front. The barrier to entry is super low. Yes, I do not agree with forcing upgrades every 2-3 years, but if they are saying my 7-8 yr old android phone is no longer getting updates... well duh. It barely can handle what is has on there now since apps keep updating, and if all I wanted was a phone/text device, then i'm not doing anything on it really to compromise myself anyways. Think this is all blown more out of proportion then it needs to be. (I'm currently using a LG v20 from the end of 2016 without any issue)
  2. This can't be real... you are not even allowed to bring your phone into any NSA building. They will confiscate it. It has to stay in your car... EDIT: looking at the link, it appears to be a job fair, woops lol
  3. I'd say look online for some local trade shows or swap meets, especially if any specialize in retro tech. Usually a good place to start for cheap, and can get some good information out of those people. Then maybe look further on ebay and craigslist to see whats out there. The first computer I built was a win 95/98 pc with an AMD slot CPU (I think a k6-2 400 or 450 or something), a Creative Sound Blaster Live! card, 64MBof RAM, and a 4GB HDD. Not sure which Graphics card I had, I wanna say an old ATI Rage 128 or something. That all worked for me back in the day, who knows about 20+ years later. lol.
  4. I would say do a re-install of windows 10 64-bit as something could be corrupt or not set right and that would give you a fresh base to start with if it is still not reporting the full 8GB. Also what make and model are the sticks of RAM? (as haas asked) are they the same 2 sticks, or different?
  5. The 'System' screen in windows will never show the exact amount. So having 1 4GB stick in and saying 3.45 could be right. Open task manager and look under the performance tab to verify it says 4GB (or something close). That will report more accurately. You can also test this with both sticks in, the System screen may be reporting incorrectly and if you look in task manager it may say 8GB (or something close).
  6. So now it's reporting 6GB on 2 4GB sticks... weird. Normally this would be if he had 4 2GB sticks and one isn't reporting right. To rule out any memory issues, you could have him try to take out one stick, boot, see if it reports 4GB, then swap the sticks and do the same. That way you at least know the memory is all good. Also could try other RAM slots (if available) to rule those out as well. Hope that helps!
  7. Definitely sounds like he has a 32-bit version of Windows installed. You may want to have him double check in the system settings that it is showing up as 64-bit windows if that is what he is saying. 32-bit windows limits you to 3.5GB of RAM, that why everyone is pointing to that. Especially if the BIOS is reporting the correct amount.
  8. Just because you sell the most of something, doesn't mean it's the best... Doesn't even mean it has to be good. Look at Lada in Russia for example... lol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lada https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_automobiles
  9. That's exactly why he makes these videos, because he sees so many devices with issues that should be simple fixes but are made harder and longer by Apple themselves. I'd be frustrated too. But he makes most of his living fixing APPLE products, so obviously he doesn't want Apple to go out of business or anything, he just wants them to be better with their business practices, like the repair side of things. If anything, I would say he's the PERFECT guy to make these opinions about these devices as he is one of the front lines seeing all the issues. Much rather trust him then an 18 yr old "genius" who's knowledge relies on a WiFi connection to a database of ONLY the information Apple whats to give out. Hence why none of them know that you could disassemble the phone to recover data if it was water damaged or something. (or the fact that Apple doesn't want you to know this (they literally employ ppl on their forums to delete helpful comments, like how to recover your data from a damaged phone) But I digress) On topic: The T2 chip is a physical piece of HW that has the ability to completely lock out any component on a device or the device itself. Mr. Moose was saying that Apple COULD use it nefariously and based on past actions, would be a surprise to no one who knows them. None of it is saying they ARE doing anything, just they COULD. Dunno how that can be said much clearer lol.
  10. Ummm, this is wrong. We aren't anywhere near GigaPixel levels in smart phones yet...Title is misleading. 108MP does not equal 1.08GP. 1,080MP would equal 1.08GP. 1,000=KP, 1,000,000=MP, 1,000,000,000=GP, just like file sizes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigapixel_image
  11. Neat. This is how it should be. Curious to see what they come up with. This doesn't need to even be said. Stop praising Apple for doing things they should have been doing in the first place. It's like praising a murderer after he "got his life back together" even tho he spent most of his life as a criminal and is still a MURDERER. (and I'm talking about the legit 1st degree ones, not an accidental dui or anything) But i guess when you have already set the bar so low...
  12. You're not wrong... but based on what the government likes to say that we don't have enough money for education and other things, there's an easy answer for them instead of making us citizens pay for it. But we know (here in the real world) it's actually because they can't manage money, yes. I'm just pointing out how the government likes to say they don't have enough tax revenue for things to justify raising it for us when there are plenty of other avenues to look at first. Not saying tax the shit out of them, not even increase it, just remove these ridiculous tax breaks. And if you add up all the companies not paying taxes, it easily gets into the billions. Plus the money the RECIEVED from the government instead... another couple billion. no it's not the honeypot to fix everything, but thats a lot of extra money to allocate.
  13. Just give me the ability to ACTUALLY disable the WiFi and cellular networks and I'll be ok with having it in newer cars. Problem solved.
  14. ...just the amount of government debt, infrastructure, and funding that could be benefited by just a handful of these companies not being shitty slime balls and paying their taxes. Yet we citizens are the ones who have to keep making up for that deficit more and more. I'm not saying tax the hell out of companies, but when you are paying nothing or even receiving money from the government that could be spent on, i dunno, say our reeling education system... that's not right. Pretty freakin' pathetic...
  15. 2 words: GROW UP. It's an emoji, about the farthest thing from anything you should be exerting your efforts on. It's not even a religious symbol. It's a hat for an imaginary character... smh. also, I'm here in the DC area with a huge Jewish community (even dated one) and I have never once heard of any one of them being "offended" by anything Christmas. Either they also celebrate it just because, or ignore it completely. This whole thing smells of someone wanted to be offended for the sake of feeling special and getting a quick article out of it.
  16. Sorry I am catching up from the weekend and this is a long thread, it is Monday after all... ...Gotta love rude millennials.
  17. Here's a good thorough honest review comparing it to the real-world:
  18. So everything you keep arguing about is that there are SOME people out there that this vehicle would be for. I agree that SOME people will buy it, but MOST people will not, which is what Tesla is after, the mass market. Ford sells an F-150 almost every 30 seconds (almost 1.1mil in 2018), and that is just ONE model of a truck from a single company. Add up all the rest of the 'traditional' trucks on sale and those 200k pre-orders (which doesn't guarantee a sale) looks pretty insignificant. The reasons that the person you responded to gave are all most of the reasons people buy those trucks in the first place. No not ALL the reasons, but the vast majority. If you are trying to bring electric alternatives to the massive truck industry, you need to have at least a handful of the same features from all those 'traditional' designs, there's a reason they are there. Otherwise you are only gonna get the enthusiasts or random handful of purchases.
  19. So if I squint when looking at it with blinding lights behind it it may look like a supercar... cool. First off, this is supposed to be a truck. Not a car. Second off, those cars were designed using a 'wedge-shape' for aerodynamics and handling as well as being sculpted to look good. Not using an actual wedge for the design. Granted it is clearly not the final design (I mean it is missing a TON of stuff to make it road legal), but no one who needs a truck to do truck stuff is going to buy this, and people that want a truck, want it because of how it looks. A handful of tech enthusiasts and car reviewers will be the main customer. And that is nowhere near the # of customers with the needs or wants of a 'real' truck.
  20. ...you were replying to 2 comments talking about people being mad at Gamefreak about the rosters cuts, but finding any other reason to be mad because of that one reason. But I also never said you wanted to take any action again gamefreak like smashing them up... sooo fair enough I guess lol. 800 is a lot to get into an open world game like this especially with them out in freeroam now and everything. So I understand them slimming it down for technical reasons alone, but they should have started slimming it down a few generations ago so it wasn't AS big of an impact. Or no one would be upset because it would have been the norm. I plan on picking it up after work and forming my own conclusions lol
  21. LOL, no you're not upset about them cutting the Dex at all, no thats not why you are mad... Of the hundreds of games that reuse assets (hell pokemon has done this in previous games, nothing new) why is it all of a sudden a problem? Because your'e mad the full Dex ain't there. Yes it's a little disappointing, but it's not everything. I mean there's still 400+ pokemon in there including all the new ones and new evolutions, that will take FOREVER to complete still Personally, unless the game is broken garbage or the models looked straight out of N64 (spoiler, they don't) I'm going to pick up the game and enjoy the hell out of it!
  22. ... are we really in a world where ppl are complaining about reused models and polygon counts for characters in our beloved franchises?! WTH, either it will be a good game or not, poly count or an asset imported from sun/moon and up-scaled won't change that. SO many games re-use assets, as long as they match in-game (and i have seen nothing to indicate otherwise), I see no problem with it. Stop being mad just to be mad ppl, I know it's so cool these days... lol. This is Nintendo/game freak we are talking about here, have faith that they know what they are doing... this isn't *ahem* EA *ahem*
  23. ... the person you are describing would need some semblance of tech knowledge to even think to look that up. Let alone know what the OS version names are that would work with their old MAC.That is definitely not the majority. Maybe majority of people on here, but most people would just take it to the apple store or buy a new one if it stopped working. Hell I know people who have bought new computers because they either filled up their hard drive or forgot their password. Most of the general public isn't tech savvy and has no desire to do those types of things. They just want something that works. My main point was shedding some light on what everyone knows, Apple overprices their products. (even tho ppl still pay it). That was just adding to the de-value of it, like having to buy additional dongles and whatnot. But I was just comparing the pricing of this new MBP to other similar spec computers out there then giving my opinion that its not worth the premium.
  24. ...sounds like the logic of a stand up company that cares about their customer base.
  25. Yea... so all those stories and news articles about customers being told that it would be cheaper to buy a new computer, or that they need to replace the logic board to fix a display issue, or that anytime they do anything with the logic board they say your data cannot be recovered if it wasn't already backed up to the cloud even tho its an easily removable SSD, or Apple actively deleting helpful posts on how to repair their devices or recover data off of them, or how it took an INSANE amount of complaints and years for them to finally acknowledge the butterfly keyboard issues, or any number of similar stories, those are all made up and false? lol. Come'on now. Just cuz you can walk into a store and ask for help, doesn't mean you will get it, try calling Razer support vs Apple support and let me know whats better? I'm not trying to compare what is the better product or company, I could have easily used Dell/Acer/ASUS/HP whoever and still proved my point. I was only specifically showing Razer because an average consumer would understand Razers web store just like how Apples is simplified. Everyone else gives so many options and makes it difficult for the customer to figure out what they want. It was just a similar web experience with similar HW to compare pricing. If I wanted to be a "but meh PC is better cuz I can build a ballin rgb gamer extreme desktop for half the cost of a MBP 16!!" pleeb, I could, but that is not what my OG post was about. I was TRYING to make a fair comparison before everyone jumped down my throat lol
