So with DDC pump's there are 3 different size of impeller. The traditional from Laing (and rebranded 1million times over). The old-school G5 mac version (practically a relic now). And the swift-tech MCP35XXX versions.

EK uses the traditional Laing one (either 1,2,3.1,3.2) and it will share the same height impeller.

So I need to find out if my stock ddc uses a Liang style too, right?

  2. Hey so I'm trying to find a better pump for my distribution plate for my case. It uses a ddc pump mounted directly to the plate. I was hoping to change the stock one I have over to an ekwb 3.2 elite. I know the mounting holes for the screws are the same, 50x50. From what I can gather the size of the pumps looks to be generally the same as well. But are there height differences with the impellers? I know my d5 has one that sticks out and ddc is more inside the pump. But idk if it will fit on there well, and Bykski doesn't really seem to keen on helping. Is my only option going to be to order it to try it out?

It doesn't sound loud in the video. My response was to getting out the air. Ddc pumps in general are louder than d5s. You sacrifice sound and a setup that is cooled by the loop for more head pressure and smaller size.

Yea I know this, just makes me scratch my head because the same brand pump I had before was silent at the same percentage speed.

Crank it to 100% for 10-20 seconds... drop to 40-50 for 20 seconds... do that for 5-10 minutes... then crank it to 100% and tip the case forward, back, left, right.  Thrn just let it run at 100% for a while and it should get the rest out over night

Did you hear the video, that sound is annoying and it's like that at 50% speed

Personally have noticed using both, DDC pumps tend to run louder than d5s. If I have the option I'll always choose a d5. Can't say for sure as I haven't seen every d5 on the market, but DDC tend to be more compact as well. Works great if there's clearance issues. Even if space is a limiting factor.

Yea I know ddc is louder than D5. It could very well be that it's cause it's an open air case. This is a new pump, was not run dry at all. My last one if I put it at like 55% it was silent. So not too sure whats going on.

DDC or D5 they both hum while running. The faster the speed the greater the hum.

Well I got a replacement pump sent to me. The old one if I put it to 55% was silent. This one is always producing some form of a hum. The loop was just refilled yesterday but wasn't running much until now. That's why I'm wondering if it might be just some trapped air bubbles. Or maybe I just have the pump mounted too tightly? It's on a distroplate. This is a video of how it sounds.

from what I recall it's similar to the 5700xt washer mod on reference cards, it's used to improve contact with the cold plate when using thermal paste by slightly increasing mounting pressure. I'm not sure, but pretty sure with the Radeon VII there was some concern of the gpu die and hbm2 memory surfaces not being flat/even with each other. The radeon vii used a thermal pad right?

Used the same graphite pad as the 5700xt. But yes there is a possible micro surface difference with the HBM2 stacks

Yes.  FreeSync is a replacement for V-Sync.  V-Sync prevents tearing by splitting your framerate in half whenever you don't match your monitor's refresh rate.  Adaptive Sync technologies interact with your monitor to lower the refresh rate so it matches your framerate.

I thought AMD wants freesync active with V-Sync on as well. Could it be that my monitor is expecting a DP1.4 connection instead of the 1.2 cable?

Is V-Sync off in the game?  If it's not, or if it's being forced elsewhere, then a drop from 144fps to 143fps will effectively just cut your framerate to 72fps.  It sounds like FreeSync isn't working properly.

V-Sync should be turned off when freesync is enabled?

Do you see an actual drop in framerate, or is it just a stuttery feeling, but the framerate stays the same? What monitor do you have, and what are you using to measure framerate?

It's minor fps drops, like 2-5fps but feels really laggy. I'm using a 1440p 144hz monitor over DP. I don't know if there's a cable difference between DP 1.4 or 1.2. I monitor with afterburner but I have tried with Radeon monitoring too. Fps stays average over 120 tho. Also I heard on these x570 certain memory timings are difficult and slightly unstable. Could that cause stuff like this?

  12. So when I play games that I have high fps in I get weird stuttering at times. I have a Radeon VII, and a ryzen 3800x. 16gb 3600 cl16 with fabric to 1800. I'm running on nvme drives. The games are like path of exile, grim dawn, lost ark ru. I don't have stutters from what I can tell in games such as The Outer World. Let me know if you need more information.

My suggestion would be to remove the overclock and revert to as many default/stable settings as you can then see if the problem persists, assuming you haven’t done that already. I’m no expert but good luck ?

Well I left CPU at stock, I was gonna lower voltage some but left it alone. I guess I can run RAM at stock since that's all I changed

Unfortunately AMD VEGA drivers are pretty crap right now, I have the same issues with my RX 5700 (different card, same chipset). Its mostly just luck atm. Try DDU then a fresh install of drivers.

It's all clean install. But this happens on desktop as well.so confused about what's happening

  15. So I recently just finished my build.

    Ryzen 3800x

    Asus rog strix x570-e

    Trident z neo cl16 3600 16gb

    Radeon vii

    Two nvme ssds

    It's water-cooled

It seems games just appear choppy at time, CPU load isn't high nor temperatures. Gpu is usually at 99% and overclocked to 1950/1200. Ram is at DOCP settings. Also sometimes I get q codes for ram issues. I did tests and it passed them for memory testing. Should I raise voltage or something? All drivers are up to date as well. New BIOS version.
