Tsar_Maple reacted to Senzelian in EU to Accuse Apple of Unfairly Blocking Third-Party Access to NFC Payment Technology on iPhone [Press release added]
Should a company be able to do what they like to do with their own hardware and software?
Of course it'd be great if Paypal and others are able to provide a similar experience to Apple pay on the iPhone, but shouldn't that be the choice of the people? If people really had a problem with that, wouldn't they simply buy more Android devices instead? Isn't Paypal on Android the competition to Apple pay instead of Paypal on iOS?
Just something to think about...

Fan of standardization, but not sure forcing certain company's to change is the best option.
But then if they actively work against right to repair and such, yeah no mercy.

Who wants to bet it'll be the same trainwreck of a device as Pixel phones are? Brought to you by company that developed the OS itself, but can't keep it together because they are incompetent as f**k.

Tsar_Maple got a reaction from IronFalcon in Should I build a desktop now or wait for next gen?
The optimist in me says that a 5800X and a 3070 will definitely hold up that long. My 2700X just had its 5th birthday and it's running strong on Zen+, so I'd like to think a Zen3 CPU could stick it out that long.
GPUs are obviously easier to replace as needed if something that blows a 3070 out of the water comes along (maybe not so easy on your wallet, but you know 😉 ), so go with your gut there.
And nice, that RAM and SSD upgrade will be a great addition.

Tsar_Maple reacted to blackbat24 in Replacing monitors, looking for suggestions
The QG241Ybii is £10 cheaper, but it's a VA panel, the BenQ are IPS. I found a VG240 (IPS panel) but it's £170.
Thanks for the suggestion, though!

For basic 1080p use, I've been a fan of Acer Nitro monitors. I've got this model that I use for Discord/whatever on the side. It's cheaper here in the US than the model you listed with a 75Hz refresh rate, if that's important to you at all. Both are fine options though.

That speed will be fine! And you can overclock the RAM after you get it without any worries as well I haven't even OC'd my 2400 and it's doing great (just been too lazy to config the settings)

I recommend Corsair Vengeance LPX, it's overclock-ready if you need it for Ryzen. You could also go others such as HyperX Fury or G.Skill Ripjaws.

Tsar_Maple got a reaction from huybv1999 in Can i use seasonic snow silent 1050w cable on my new seasonic prime ultra platinum 1000w ?
I've seen articles saying to not to. Apparently companies don't always use the same connections for their own units, and connecting improper cables can kill your components. I don't think it's worth the risk. Contact your shop and ask if the PSU was supposed to come with cables, doesn't make sense that it wouldn't come with any...

Tsar_Maple reacted to Hashiba in Planning a new pc, FIRST TIMER !!
Hi @AtillaTheHumble,
Nice Build!, I have a 1080ti ftw3 too, just make sure that whatever psu you choose comes with 2x 6+2 cables per card. Oh and @Tsar_Maple is totally right about the extra storage, but don't worry it's cheap and you can add HD drives as you go

Looks good! I'd recommend some additional storage as that M.2 will fill up quick between your game library and video content. Additional HDD or SSD would be good. (Samsung is great for SSDs, Western Digital is great for SSDs (SanDisk is owned by them) and HDDs)
ps: make sure to get some RGB strips for additional FPS

Tsar_Maple got a reaction from redsquirrel0249 in What to Put Where? SSD vs. HDD
If it's something that's reading and writing a lot, I'd say place it on the SSD. But games don't really read or write a lot and something like Discord is light enough to not really hinder your performance. Now if you had something like Chrome w/ Twitch or YT playing or OBS running on the same HDD as your games, that's when you might notice some slower speeds.
For Discord specifically though, it's a pretty small application, so being on the SSD ain't a bad idea
-
Tsar_Maple reacted to Airdragonz in What to Put Where? SSD vs. HDD
The hdd will definitely be slower the more apps you are trying to simultaneously read/write with it. Now as to whether running Discord and a game together off a hard drive makes a noticeable performance difference really depends on the game itself and how it caches the game files

Again, theres is no choice at all. If you want to develop for all mobile platforms, you must have a computer with OSX, and a Hackintosh is not stable enough for critical jobs.
