  1. the satas are dead it seems. I can't get any drive to show on them. I'm thinking of getting her a pci sata card.
  2. I don't know if this information is helpful at all, but the mobo is a ASRock FM2A85X Extreme6
  3. I changed the sata cable, changed the power cable, flashed the bios and updated the bios. The mobo still doesn't see the ssd it in the storage devices section. I like jay am clueless as to what to do now
  4. I'll try switching out the cable and report back.
  5. Hello everyone, my girlfriend just got a new case and is trying to put her computer back together, however her boot drive isn't working. She is using a Samsung 840 120gb ssd. It worked fine in her old case, but now she keeps getting the reboot and select proper boot device message. We've unplugged the ssd and inserted a flash drive we have with Wins 7 bootable installation on it, and that works fine, but when the ssd is plugged in we can't do anything, I can't even get the boot menu to come up when the drives in. We've tried moving the sata cable from port to port but that hasn't worked either. I've plugged the ssd into a thermaltake blacx and it can bring up the drive on my computer, it doesn't have any corrupted files I can find, so I really don't know why it isn't working in her new case. Any thoughts?
  6. Thanks for the suggestions! Sorry it took sorry it took so long to reply. I think I'll go with the MSI card then. Thanks again.
  7. Cool I'm happy to save $10. If I want to OC down the road will the 550w still be enough? I was reading in another thread that going higher on the PSU has better efficiency. Does efficiency also include how hot the psu will get? I can't stress how worried I am about heat in my build. My current one gets in the 90 degree F range under load, so I really want to improve that however I can.
  8. From what the community here was telling me in my thread, the Ryzen 5 2600 or even 1600 slightly OCed would game and stream fine. A Ryzen 5 2600 goes for under $200 USD You can find a x470 mobo for around $140 and 16gb of DDR4 3200hz memory, which is what the suggested you use for a ryzen build, for around $170
  9. Okay, so final build what does everyone think? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mmhQP3 And thanks again everyone for all the help and teaching today. With the 1440p monitor it ends up at $1585.81
  10. I live in FL, it gets really hot here especially in the summer, I'm fine with spending more to get a cooler just for my own piece of mind. So if I get the x470 board it brings me to $1210 so I'd still have to leave out the SSD https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9PvMV6
  11. This is the updated build based on the suggestions I've read so far https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Qmg6D2
  12. But for the other things I want the computer to do, streaming/editing wouldn't a beefier cpu handle those things better?
