  1. I reverted back to a September driver and so far no flickering. It seems like it is a driver related issue, so I guess just have to wait for the next driver to come out. Thanks for the suggestions!
  2. Hello! Recently my left monitor has started flickering at the top of the screen. It seems inconsistent, as in, I don't do anything in particular and it flickers and sometimes it doesn't flicker for a long period of time. I don't think its a monitor issue because I did some testing. I used each of the monitors separately for a while and no flickering whatsoever. Both my monitors are: LG 24GL65B-B https://www.newegg.ca/p/N82E16824025966?Item=N82E16824025966 My GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 super Things I have done; Reinstalled my drivers Changed the monitor cords Changed the ports that the monitors plug into on my GPU They weren't flickering previously so I am wondering if it will go away on the next driver update. If you have any suggestions that could fix this problem let me know! Thanks!
  3. Didn't realize that Noctua had a list of compatible cases. Thanks for the link! It would seem that there shouldn't be any problem with the case and cooler. Thanks for the help!
  4. On their website they say 160 mm without fan. Do you know if that is measured from the bottom of the heat-sink to the top of the heat pipes that are sticking out the top or just to that flat surface on top of the heat-sink?
  5. I was looking at the Fractal define 7. On PcPartpicker it says "some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders."
  6. I was looking at the fractal Define 7 https://www.newegg.ca/black-fractal-design-define-7-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811352111?Item=N82E16811352111
  7. Hi! I am looking to transfer my current system to a new case, but was wanting to make sure that I had enough clearance for my CPU cooler. I measured from the base of the motherboard to the top of the cooler or in my case the fan on the heat-sink, and I measured ~18.1 - 18.2 cm or ~181 - 182 mm Now the case I am looking at has a CPU clearance of 185mm and I'm not sure if they mean from the motherboard, the back of the case, or from the socket outward. My CPU cooler is a Nocuta NH-D15 cooler, with the tops of the fans ~22 mm above the heat-sink. Let me know if you think the case can accommodate my cooler! Thanks!
  8. That sounds like a good idea as well. I won't make any impulsive decisions at the moment, and instead will wait till the 3070 comes out and go from there.
  9. Yeah, I usually don't game at the absolute max settings so the extra performance from the 3070 would be wasted, in my opinion.
  10. That's what I was sort of concluding, and its a logical conclusion. And in regards to the 3060, is there any rumoured date when that will be out? I am assuming not for a while.
  11. If I don't play on ultra settings or even the newest AAA games, still worth considering?
  12. Games like resident evil, borderlands 3, call of duty war-zone are some of the ones I currently like to play. My preferred resolution is 1920 x 1080.
  13. Its hard to give specifics, I'm not really interested in cyberpunk but I do enjoy playing games like resident evil, borderlands 3, call of duty war-zone, ect. on higher settings.
  14. But, say the majority of the games I will be playing in the coming years aren't the newest titles and latest, but the games that I do play, I play on high settings. Is it still worth (in broad strokes) to get the 3070 in your opinion?
  15. Hello! I am currently in the market for a GPU and had some questions about the new 3070 in particular. I know that the card is not out yet, and nothing is tested, but based on the information that is currently out for the 3070, do you think it is a waste of money for 1080p 144hz gaming (I have a ryzen 7 3700x for a CPU to note)? Like, I was looking at a 2070 super or 5700XT and I realize that the 3070 is probably going to be around the same price as say the 2070 super with a lot more performance but if I can't use that extra performance isn't that just money going to waste? The 3060 may be a better suite, but i don't think that is coming out for a while, and it would be nice to get a GPU in the coming months rather than in Spring time or even later. Let me know your thoughts and or recommendations!
  16. Thanks for all of you're replies and insight! I think I have enough information too make a decision!
  17. I think they do, but I am not%100 sure. I will see if they do.
  18. I totally get where you are coming from. I have never owned a Macbook before but both my siblings have had them and they are great quality laptops! For me, I don't mind the Macbook air, but I would like something a bit bigger for screen size. So than you look to the Macbook pro 13 inch which starts at $1,700 CAD and goes up from there. And for me, I can't see myself spending $1700 for a laptop, especially when I do have my own desktop for big projects and other heavy loads. I mean if someone gave me a Macbook I would be more than happy to take it ha, but to drop that amount of money on something that I could get something similar (in terms of specs) from Microsoft for less, is just something that I don't see is worth while. And I've been a windows guy myself since the beginning, so learning a new OS (even though it may not be difficult to learn) is still another downside for me on getting a Mac. Just my two cents Thanks for your thoughts!
  19. Don't really have any OS requirements. I mean I have never owned an apple laptop, but both my siblings have had them and they are, in my opinion great laptops. I did look at the new mac-books but as you said, they are quite a bit of money for what they are and plus it would be nice to have some ports and not have to buy an adapter to plug in your phone or something, in my opinion. They are solidly built and battery life is quite good (at least the older versions did), but I feel like getting windows or something else would be more worth. Yeah I am currently browsing ultrabooks to see whats out there, lot of a options. I mean at the moment I guess light and thin is kind of negated by the fact that, at least for me, my courses are going to be online, but I guess once they resume than light and thin would be nice. The laptop isn't going to be my only or main machine, I have a desktop but want something mobile to work on stuff. I was looking at some gaming laptops, not that I would game on it (that's why I have my desktop) but they seem like they have pretty good specs for the price. https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/asus-tuf-15-6-gaming-laptop-black-amd-ryzen-5-3550h-512gb-ssd-8gb-ram-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1650/14497496 https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/asus-rog-strix-g15-15-6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-10300h-512gb-ssd-8gb-ram-geforce-gtx-1650-ti/14583635 Thanks for your insight!
  20. Hello! I am currently looking for a new laptop for university, and wondering if I could get some thoughts on whats the best laptop for that environment. Here are some answers to some common questions people may have; What is your budget? $1000-1500 CAD or $750-1120 USD (Though may be willing to increase depending on the laptop) What is the size that you are considering? 14 inch and higher What screen resolution do you want? 1920 x 1080 Do you want to play games with your laptop? No gaming. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? Programming and math related stuff. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? 500 GB - 1TB What country do you live in? Canada I appreciate any and all thoughts! Thanks!
  21. So in conclusion, the gigabyte X570 gaming x is not the best quality board out there, but there should be no issues with the ASUS 5700 TUF card. If you have a 12/16 core CPU, make sure especially you have a good quality motherboard to go along with it.
  22. Uh, yeah, I don't think I will be getting a 12 or 16 core CPU anytime soon lol. Good to know though if I ever do want to get a 12/16 core CPU make sure to get a good quality board for it. Does the quality of the board affect GPU power draw at all or usually only CPU ? Like with the ASUS TUF 5700 paired with the X570 Gaming X, would you feel trepidation? At least in-terms of power draw.
