  1. Most programs/games do not require the newer DX. What program only runs on Windows 8 that you use?

None yet, but at some point there will be just like there was with XP.

But why is this suddenly about me being forced instead of the original discussion you started about people who complained only being on the bandwagon and having nothing to complain about.

The fact is that windows 8 is fundamentally different and that is isn't created for desktop pcs.

  2. Can I run 2133 MHz ram on this board? Newegg say it only does 1866...

I really would look more into that....Its a quite confusing art to dismantle what they mean when they say DC-xxxx with different boards. Most of them will run 1866 or 2133 but run them like they were 1600. Thats at least what ive been told.

  3. Most people I meet love the game. I've honestly had a hate relationship with it since the series inception, because its all thats wrong with the gaming industry.

Unrealistic and stupid "powers" that make no sense in a FPS,  and way too much focus on graphics over gameplay.......Ohhh and koreans who speak english with korean accents(in crysis 1.....Damn I HATE THAT) (I am intelligent enough to read a subtitle. If they are non english speaking soldiers in a game, then make them speak their actual language....REALISM thank you very much)    : Edit so it makes more sense:

But im a bitter old man and most people disagree with me

  4. And my point is that as the end user no one is forcing you to use Windows 8/8.1. If you don't like it, don't use it. Or you could do what I and many others do is use it, install 3rd part programs to tweak the software a bit and have a wonderful experience that operates better than Windows Vista/7 as far as overhead and other factors.

Which I already answered. You were critical of people who had bad things to say about Windows 8, but then refuse to even address the points I made?

Why SHOULD I fix their system? Why are they forcing me to install 3rd party apps to make their software do something that they could have given me the option to do.

I adored windows Xp and prefered several things to windows 7 but I was not forced to install a bunch of 3rd party apps to make it look like what I was used to.....And with W8 it would still not function exactly how it should.

And the are forcing me. The newer versions of DirectX will only be windows 8.

  5. I thought it was in march? When did it get delayed?

I really can't remember the source but the feb release is for lower level cards. The new 20nm process has been delayed until Q4 2014. So the new cards in Q1 will still be 28nm

  6. I am simply not going to be able to win. I just started saving up for my first real build in a LOOONG time and will have 2500 ready in may/early june....So I will probably end up buying a 780 at the same price that it has today, only to get a high end 800 series card released in late 2014...ARgh!

There will always come new stuff but this is different. This is getting stuck right before a potential massive leap in performance.

    Argh!

The plan is long term. Unlike NVIDIA who goes for imediat profit regardless.

I have generally been a bigger fan of Nvidia than AMD, but I really want the red team to do well. But if your assessment is right, that is a very dangerous strategy.

Because AMD has to survive short term in order to be anything long term and they are not exactly the wealthier side in the contest. I don't like that Nvidia is thinking profit so much but lets face it....The only reason Nvidia is able to do this is because AMD is simply too far behind the game. AMD has been forced to really stress their technology to get near nvidia levels of performance. Thats why we had to wait for non reference coolers to really have a card that can compete AND not get extremely hot.

I really want AMD to succeed because it will force nvidia to go balls to the wall. But I honestly don't think we can blame Nvidia when they aren't forced into delivering something more.

If this was the other way around and Nvidia released a new card, AMD could simply not just adjust a card they already have and then beat the card that Nvidia just released.

    I want competition above all.......

  7. Windows 8/8.1 does support multiple windows easily. Where did you get the idea that it doesn't? Also you can disable the metro interface and use the start menu (using classic shell, startmenu8 etc) and it looks/functions just like Windows 7.

As to your "if you use it for work you are screwed", I'm using it @ work right now. I have multiple programs and windows open, I run startmenu8 and have metro disabled on startup.

Then you are just far more adaptable than I am.

Maybe windows changed something in newer versions but last time I used windows 8, you could have side by side windows but one of them had to take up a tiny amount of the screen. Which is awesome when you do work and have skype running for instance but it is not adaptable enough...But this is not my only gripe about windows.

You mention classic shell, startmenu8 etc.....Why should I fix something that Microsoft screwed up in the first place? Why is microsoft forcing me to fix their program?

And the problem is that this does not solve the problem anyways. Even if I install classic shell or any other program to get the start menu back and get windows to boot to desktop, I still can't get rid of the tablet/touch look and feel that windows 8 clearly was designed for. Hell, there is still the lock screen for tablets that I have to go into registry editor or group policy to change...And its not still not over. The annoying app switchers hot corners and the charms has to be disabled too.

I could go on and on....My point is that its completely designed for something else than what I use windows for. Mobiles and Tablets! Try clicking on your wifi icon. A MASSIVE selection bar comes out....Seriously..Im on a desktop PC with a mouse. I don't need 30% of my screen in order to make a tiny little selection.

Yes, these are all small things but microsoft could have gone with a system where the users had a choice instead of forcing its users into using their computers differently

Reminds me of steve jobs when there was an issue with one of the earlier iphones when people held them a certain way....His response was something like "Then hold it differently".

    Its just not good enough.

  8. I hope not. Samsung is just as bad as apple when it comes to "product integration"

What do you mean by product integration? Because product integration usually refers to something similar to product placement, just integrated into the storyline. So if you see an episode of a tv show where the storyline happens around a product is product integration.

If you talk about functioning with other devices from other grand, I have to respectfully disagree....A LOT!

Samsung works great with other devices...I have a very easy time using galaxy tablets with LG or Sony televisions for instance....Or with a nokia phone.

  9. The best part (no offense OP) is that someone actually thought someone like Bill Gates would require that much time to install his own products. Windows 8.1 takes less than 30 minutes to install, if that. (Took like...15 minutes, if that to install to my new SSD).

All the hate on Windows 8/8.1 is unfounded in my opinion. The biggest problem with both flavors is the lack of the start menu. This threw a lot of people for a loop. There are also some minor issues with backwards compatibility with applications designed for Windows 7 and later. Other than that there really aren't that many flaws. I've used Windows 8 since pre-release.

Windows 8/8.1 has a smaller footprint that most of M$ other operating systems. It handles tasks and processes better, it even has support for some things that Windows 7 and before doesn't and never will, to name just a few things.

To everyone hating on Windows 8/8.1 I kindly ask you to justify your position with some major flaw that isn't because of a quirk with software compatibility, poor system specs or end user error. Chances are most are bandwagoning.

The start menu has nothing to do with it. It has completely changed the way you use the OS. I spend a lot of time working with a lot of different programs opened in differently sized windows on the same screen. Something that windows 8 simply can handle. And I won't nothing to do with the new metro system.

Windows 8 is great for people who only game, use skype, facebook and the like. People who work in their windows are screwed.

Your theory of "everybody who disagrees with me is bandwagoning" is weak.

  10. Hi everyone , I just need to know should I need to buy a separate PSU from a reputable brand like corsair or seasonic (which costs more !) or just use the bundled PSU which has no name on it (it says that it's 500Watts) .My currunt build is an entry level gaming machine. I'm currently using the bundled PSU which came with my case (not a high quality one,a mid range case) . It's still working fine :) What is the difference between a bundled PSU and a separate PSU like Corsair or Seasonic that linus is using in his every build !

There are a lot of way where you can save money easily when doing a build. The absolutely only place where I would never ever want anybody to try to save money would be the PSU. It is without a doubt the thing that breaks the most often alongside the motherboard.

  11. I have been tight on money for a few years so I have had my current build for 5 years now.....I used to clean it alot but I have reached a hate relationship at this point so now I just refuse to clean as its punishment for sucking. If it breaks, it gives me a perfect excuse for buying the new one before the scheduled may/june starting point:p

  12. I acfully see Nietzsche as a somewhat positive thinking. He might be pessimistic about mankind, but he is very optimistic about the individual humans. I don't necessarily agree with is philosophies, but I still find his books very interesting.

I find Heidegger much more depressing to read. Mostly becuase it reminds me how little I know about philosophy,

On topic. I just finished reading A Clash of Kings, so I began rereading Atlas Shrugged. Not a great book. Definitely worse then I remembered it.

Ohhh, I absolutely agree that his books are interesting. I just have to be in a special mood when I read philosophy...especially on that level.

I haven't stupied philosophy in school, so everything ive learned came from when I gained a interest in my early-mid twenties so my reading has been very spread out.

Its deeply fascinating to read the thoughts of people who seemingly think on a completely different level than most of the rest of us are capable of.

Ive only read small pieces of Heidegger in other books and he doesn't seem like a very uplifting fellow, but few philosophers do...

Do you recommend reading Heidegger and what makes it so depressing except what you mentioned?

  13. Before Mantle launched: "It will be awesome guys! You should totally get AMD cards because Mantle will make them blow Nvidia out of the water!"

After many Mantle delays: "I-i-it's not AMD's fault! It's EA's! It's not AMD and DICE, you know the people working on the game. The fact that there is no driver for Mantle either? Still not AMD's fault. It's totally just EAs..."

*Mantle is released and performance isn't that much better, it has lots of bugs and now this BF4 fog crap*

Now: "It's just a beta guys. Give It will be awesome in the future I promise!"

Future: "I never said it would be great. I totally said it would only benefit X and Y."

Calling it now, because this is what happens all the time... Stop hyping it up because you will just be disappointed. Put the bar as low as possible and you might be gladly surprised if it's decent/good, yet you won't be disappointed if it turns out to be bad.

Like I've been saying for the past months, don't make your mind up until you got quite a lot of data. Personally, to me it's like Mantle doesn't even exist until we got a handful of games that support it, and several independent tests of them. It's not even worth taking into consideration when buying a new card until that day comes. Just like Shadowplay wasn't worth taking into consideration until it was finally available, or how G-Sync isn't worth taking into consideration before we got monitors people will actually buy that supports it.

I find this part hilarious. "don't be a fanboy, Mantle (which we still know next to nothing about, and we don't really have good tests with it) is awesome!". Don't you see the irony in that post.

Hopefully it will be awesome, but nobody knows if it's good or bad until several months from now.

I never said that Mantle IS awesome.....I said that it LOOKS awesome.

..The idea behind mantle is awesome. Btw....I have only owned Nvidia cards for the last 7-8 years so your suggestion that im a AMD fanboy, is really off.

What about quoting the rest of my post where I ranted against fanboys on both sides and instead wait and see? You are deliberately trying to twist my words into this constant AMD vs. NVIDIA fanbattle.

  14. It won't be those, but the 800 series that will. They will release the 880 which will be ~$700 and it won't be very smart to have 2 cards at the same price point.

But won't the 800 series be released Q4 2014?......Heard that they delayed it.
