Green stripes and blocks/dots on screen, then crash
Guarrand replied to Guarrand's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks for all the tips guys. Since i already tried the different slot thing and without the GPU installed.. i'll try the CMOS reset. The monitor isnt the problem since i have 2 and both give the same problem. Also i dont think my PC would crash if my monitor was defect. I'll check back when i tried the CMOS reset. Thanks again- 9 replies

I have an MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming motherboard with an MSI 780ti gaming vidcard, for about 3.4 / 4 years now. Since 2 days it started giving green horizontal lines (not completely covering the width of the screen) and blocks. When that happens my pc crashes soon after. After i try to reboot it also shows the same green lines and blocks in the bios and during startup... after which it usually crashes again. I tried booting in safe mode, and eventhough that works... the same green lines still show up. At first i thought it was the videocard, but after i removed that and used the onboard vidcard, it still gave the same problems. I also tried a different slot for the vidcard, just to make sure its not just one slot thats the problem, but still the same result. Is it fair to assume that its the mobo thats defect? Is there something else i can try to fix the mobo? Any advice / tips are appreciated. -Richard-

NVIDIA Shield vs. Razer Forge (for streaming to TV)

NVIDIA Shield vs. Razer Forge (for streaming to TV)
Guarrand replied to Guarrand's topic in Home Theater Equipment
Thnx for the info. The Forge also suports 4K though i think.. but i assume you mean that the hardware is better in the shield?! -
Sorry to post this here, but i wanted to know which of the above devices would be best for streaming video to my TV (besides streaming games from my PC) over wireless. I read a few articles and saw Linus's yubtub video about the Forge, but couldnt find one on the SHIELD (the console, not the controllers). So my main purpose would be streaming over my 5Ghz wifi network . And with streaming i mostly mean movies, series, gaming streams and the occasional LoL/SC game I know the two items aren't out that long... but i was hoping some of you might have some input on the matter, since it seems both are great.. and i cant make up my mind P.S. 100TH POST WHOOHOOO

PC crashes, reboots, fans start blowing and system recovery starts
Guarrand replied to Guarrand's topic in Troubleshooting
Well that wasnt it. Got a new PSU after turning in my "defect" one. Installed it and it worked fine for 2-3 days.. and then POOF.. same problem. So, either i have REALLY bad luck with PSU's or its something else. One other thing i noticed was that i dont get an error message after i startup again. Usually when your pc crashes you get a message saying that windows has crashed and that it wants to send a logfile to microsoft or something. But i dont get that... It just turns off and then reboots after a second. Anyone got any other tips? Maybe its my mobo?... thats the only thing that i can think of that would account for the no-error-message. Can i test my mobo? PC crashes, reboots, fans start blowing and system recovery starts
Guarrand replied to Guarrand's topic in Troubleshooting
i THINK its my PSU. Once after a crash it didnt even want to power up. I had to remove the powercable and reconnect it before it wanted to power up again. That could also explain the blowing sound while i dont see anything happening with my cooling fans (Watercooling H100i btw) Since i dont have a spare PSU lying around, i'll have to check this later in the week. Thnx for the tips so far. -
PC crashes, reboots, fans start blowing and system recovery starts
Guarrand replied to Guarrand's topic in Troubleshooting
It doesnt give a blue screen. I first got it 2 days ago while playing a game. But i also get it now when i just boot... i click the power button and it starts blowing and doing nothing. When i reboot 2-3 times it starts up the recovery and after that it usually starts up good. I ran a memory check a few minutes ago and it came out negative.. no problems with the memory. I'll try the scannow in a few minutes. -
Hey guys, Its been awhile now that i am enjoying my new rigg and it never let me down yet. Until yesterday, when all of a sudden it started crashing a few times a day without a clear reason. I havent installed new hardware or even new software ... and the latest windows updates are from a couple of weeks ago. Symptoms: When it crashes my fans start blowing real loud (although i dont see them turn faster) and the screen stays black.. NO reboot. WHen i then reboot it either comes up with a system recovery, after which it resumes working again, OR it doesnt reboot and starts blowing loudly again. No beeps... After a few of these reboots and recoveries it boots up normally and i can use it a couple of hours again.. until it starts over again. It created a minidump the last time, but i have no clue how to read this or what to make of it. I was hoping you guys could help out. http://www.filedropper.com/minidump_5 Thnx in advance

Yeah i am not as worried about the incomming traffic, to my knowledge thats been blocked thoroughly. I am more worried if my camera is sending data to these locations, and if so, WHY!?

Recently we have had a camera system installed at our office. Everything was fine.....until we noticed some latency/performance issues on our network. Since the only thing that had changed was the camera system, we checked out what it was doing. When we checked the modem logs, we noticed a VERY high number of open sessions (around 500-700 with peaks above 1000). I then checked wtf it was doing with all those open ports since we specifically BLOCKED the ability to watch the camera images from the outside. When i checked the NAT table i saw all kinds of weird IP adresses to which the camera system was connecting.... some of them located in India, Israel and other remote places (our office is in the Netherlands). I contacted the company that installed the camera and they have no clue why it should be doing that but we "shouldnt worry". Now i dont worry quickly, but this is atleast "strange" in my book. (see attached log screenshot). Anyone got any idea if i should be worried and disconnect the camera system, or that is indeed normal behaviour!?
