  1. You can just use this to fix the mouse issue. https://github.com/mgth/LittleBigMouse I like Windows 11, but there are still some issues. For example sometimes I can't set different background images for each monitor. Then somehow it works again and next boot it breaks again and shows the same image on both monitors...
  2. Depending on your electricity costs an older enterprise system might be more expensive in the long run. Do you really need the power of a socketed CPU or would a efficient Atom or ARM board be enough? Do you need to transcode?
  3. Or get the faster successor SK Hynix Platinum P41. Needs more power, but has slightly better power efficiency (mbps/watt) than the P31. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/sk-hynix-platinum-p41-ssd-review
  4. Do you have myopia? Slightly undercorrecting glasses (+1D) for screen work can reduce eye strain by basically simulating longer distances. You can also add blue light filters.
  5. I modded my Asus P8Z77-V BIOS successfully using this: https://www.win-raid.com/t871f50-HowTo-Get-full-NVMe-support-for-all-Systems-with-an-AMI-UEFI-BIOS.html But be careful, there's always a chance to brick your BIOS.
  6. E-Ink monitors do exist, but are not really feasible for the average consumer and extremely expensive for the size.
  7. It sounds like you want a web VPN/gateway. For example this seems to do what you want.
  8. Open Media Vault is probably best for low end hardware and mismatched drives. Though I don't think it is as beginner friendly as Unraid.
  9. Tutorials bore me so I would try to search a project that you are passionate about and only loosely follow tutorials. Want to learn graphics programming? -> Follow a beginner tutorial, from there build a Minecraft clone with OpenGL Want to learn multi threading? -> Use a different thread for world generation in your Minecraft clone Want to learn a new language? -> Rewrite something you already know in the new language This concept can be applied to any level, you just have to select the correct project for your skill level. And try to not have too many new factors at the same time so it doesn't get too hard.
  10. Not exactly what you are asking for, but a IP-KVM would allow complete remote access including BIOS: https://github.com/pikvm/pikvm
  11. https://talonvoice.com/ This includes voice control and using the mouse with a tobii eye tracker. Most of the users are programmers, so basic program controls and writing code work pretty well. In the Slack are also some people gaming with voice only, but i haven't tried that.
  12. This takes 16V-63V DC input. You would need a separate power supply to run on AC (the site shows an example).
  13. Is your internet speed actually over 1 Gbit/s? If not, you don't need more than 1 Gbit/s. Also real world wifi speeds are much lower than advertised. Even if wifi were faster than ethernet, the latency and stability would be much worse.
  14. For anyone with hand problems/RSI: Talon-Voice - https://talonvoice.com/ Alternative to keyboard and mouse. Free cross-platform software with a paid early-access beta. With Talon you can run commands using speech recognition and control the mouse with eye tracking (using Tobii 4c/5). It is targeted towards programmers and allows scripting your own commands to improve your workflow. Existing commands allow you for example to: press keys/mouse buttons, dictate text (beta also includes other languages), switch windows, launch programs, control tabs (in browser, editor, terminal), control IDEs like intellij/vscode, run common terminal commands (git, cd, ls).
  15. That sounds like the problem I am having. I often only get it on by pressing the power button for 6+ seconds to reset the power and immediately pressing it again to start the PC. It gets worse when the power was completely off (disconnecting the PSU). The steps I tried but that didn't help (you might try some of them): new cmos battery new bios chip reset/reflash/update bios circumvent power button (connecting the pins directly) different (known working) power supply I couldn't solve it but my suspicion is that some capacitors on my motherboard are degraded (it is really old). There is no visible damage, so I won't try to find and replace them. I just hope it holds until the prices normalize again and I can get a new computer.
  16. You can use an adapter like this. I personally would pay a bit more and get some proper active stereo speakers (be careful, most aren't sold as pairs).
  17. The model comes with a 2.5" SATA HDD, but the System info indicates a M.2 SATA SSD. If both are correct, the seller may have changed the drive and included a SATA to M.2 adapter in the process. Then it should be possible to install either a 2.5" SATA SSD (max 5mm) or a M.2 SATA SSD, but no NVMe drives. Best to make sure by opening it though.

    XLR or USB?

UMC22 is a audio interface: It connects to a PC and offers a few audio in/outputs. It focuses more on audio quality and less on features. Essentially the same as your included mainboard audio, but better quality. It also provides 48V phantom power over XLR for mics needing it (AT2020 needs it). The main purpose is connecting microphones for recording. Xenyx 502 is a mixer: It has more in/outputs and lets you mix and EQ them. It focuses more on features and less on quality. It does not connect to a PC per USB. Xenyx Q502 is the USB variant that includes a simple audio interface.

    XLR or USB?

Usually XLR has better sound quality and the UMC22 is a good low cost interface.
  20. Those are all good speakers, but from what i have heard, the Adams are the best in this price range.
  21. Here they got down to 4.9 seconds.
  22. Hm, maybe some firewall or QoS is slowing it down.
