  1. Here's a HWINFO log file if you need more LOG FILE.HTM
  2. I keep getting the bluescreen of death. All it says are WHEA_INCORRECTABLE_ERROR. I narrowed that down to mean hardware failure but I still don't know what hardware is failing. It only happens when the computer is under load (Playing world of warcraft and other games) Here are my hardware specs and some Windows error logs. Yes I know this is ancient technology and should be in a E-Waste Bin but this is my only rig for right now while I save for a new one. Its not thermal related. I've never seen the CPU get above 63°C or the gpu above like 70°C I think something is dying but I cannot figure out what Many Thanks, -Ninjasupahsquid
  3. THANK YOU... This is the answer I was looking for
  4. I suppose youre right... the phenom is more power efficient
  5. Im looking into building a whole new rig... this is just a temporary upgrade. I am planning on using this rig as a server once I get the new one so upgrading it isn't a complete waste of money... I'll see if i can find it cheaper on ebay

  7. I've had to go back to using my old AM3 Rig for a while and i've noticed the 550TI inside is a bit lacking. so is the Phenom II X6 1090T... So I'm planning on upgrading the CPU To an FX-3800 that I found on amazon for $90. The only problem is IDK what GPUs I can get away with without there being a CPU bottleneck. The Motherboard is quite old as well. Its a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P REV 5.0. I mainly play world of Warcraft at 1080P. My 550 TI can manage about 30-45 fps at lowest settings. Was hoping to bump that up to about 60. I have 2 144 hz displays but I'm running them at 60 so I don't Kill my poor 550TI. Also I'm not to familiar with hardware compatibility with hardware this old. Can someone confirm that a FX-8300 will go into a GA-78LMT-S2P REV 5.0 without a hitch. I know that the TDP of the FX-8300 is about 30 W lower than a Phenom II X6 1090T but idk if there is anything else that I need to worry about Many thanks, -Ninjasupahsquid
  8. My Gaming Laptop of 4 years has finally passed away. (Press F to pay respects to my GX701GX) When I put it back together after repasting it the GPU ]fan wasn't spinning. Sent it off to ASUS for repairs and they quoted me $2000 to replace the mainboard :-(... For $2000 I'll just build a new desktop. But I'm having a hard time deciding on what platform to go with Here are the respective Builds for each platform Intel: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GjFcKp $3583.91 AMD: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7Pr3Dq $3499.90 The AMD is about $85 Cheaper but whatevs... I'm after PURE Gaming Performance at any cost. From what I understand these are the best that Both AMD and Intel have to offer this generation. Do they differ in gaming performance? If so by how much? CPUbenchmark says that the Ryzen 9 7950x beats the 13900k by about 3000 points. However do those 3000 points mean anything in gaming? What do you think I should do? Many thanks, -Ninjasupahsquid
  9. Thank you very much... Im gonna post before and after pics after im done
  10. So... Simply... My ASUS GX701GX is HOT AS FUCK 2.5 Ghz at 94°C and Maxed fan speed Doesn't seem good (It would turbo to 4.9 when it was brand new)... this laptop is roughly 2-3 years old and I think its time for me to repaste the CPU... (I'm also gonna order some compressed air to clean out any dust bunnies)... Just curious as to what thermal paste I should get. Many thanks, -Ninjasupahsquid
  11. I have a laptop (ASUS GX701GX) and I have it plugged into two monitors... one over HDMI with the HDMI port. one with DisplayPort over type-c... I go to turn on my laptop and one of my monitors doesn't light up. I've tried plugging other devices into that port and nothing works... did the port just die? I want to go through a few more ideas before I just accept that... What's weird is that it was working fine last night but now all of a sudden its not... only changes I could think of is that I recently started using hibernate instead of shut down (I've tried a full shutdown and nothing works). but Idk what else it could be Many thanks, -Ninjasupahsquid
  12. So I already posted this on reddit... but I figured I could get more help here So... I've been playing ark for the past 6 or so hours... been getting some real good stuff goin just hatched my first dilophosaur egg... and then I decided to exit to main menu so I could grab something to eat and take a wee... When I get back to my computer I try to load the save and then it crashes... here's the crash thingy... Also heres a video of me trying to load the world I guess ark just doesn't like it when you take breaks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if I had to take a guess... maybe I'm running out of ram but theres a whole 3-4 gigs left for it to take so idk... I was playing not 30 minutes ago with no problems... any ideas? Many thanks, -Ninjasupahsquid
  13. @HQuan @SimplyChunk @Cr33ps THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH... I got everything back started by running the recuva tool on the desktop itself... but that started losing power after 5 minutes (8 Year old Powersupply) so I got my USB HDD Dock and did the recovery and after 12 hours (6 hours of scannning and 6 hours of recovering) I GOT IT ALL BACK (i dont think im missing any files... if I am I dont miss them anyway) Heres some of my pictures that you guys helped me save (a majority of them were MSFS Textures LOL) MSFS Loading screens and textures Here's some of the album art. (yes I also saved the albums)… and yes (I am a GEN-Z who still Rips His CD's) MY ACTUAL PHOTOGRAPHY!!!!! AGAIN THANK YOU ALL SOOOO MUCH
  14. I finished the quick format... So im doing a deep scan now... hopefully it'll find em all I haven't written any data to the drive.... it already found 114,528 files in less than a minute... sooo fingers crossed
  15. Thank you all for the help... im gonna try that recuva tool and see waht happens... ill keep yall posted
  16. I am a major dumbass... If you want the short story of how I got into this predicament... here VVVVV But the more detailed explanation is this... I have a drive (F:) and it has all my important shit on it, Documents, Family Photos, My music collection, my movie collection, My Pictures (I'm an amateur Photographer) Its a 5tb portable external hard drive I've stored shit on it for like 3 years now... recently it started giving me errors like "there's something wrong with this device" or something like that.... So I thought I'll move all the important shit to my server and put it on the (E:) Drive in the server... so that's what I did... I started the transfer and played some games on my main rig while it did it... I noticed on my second monitor that the transfer was complete and that all the important shit had been moved from drive (F:) to drive (E:)... So I went to right click drive (F:) to format it and hit enter a couple of times... until I realized that the format was for 2TB... not 5TB... OH SHIT I CLICKED THE WRONG DRIVE... So I spammed the cancel button as quick as I could and then tried to access my files on the (E:) Drive... and low and behold... Its not readable... gives me an error that it cannot be read and I fear that all my files are lost... I'm not entirely sure how a format works... I think it flips all the bits on a drive to a 0 to completely erase any data... I really hope this isn't the case... It was just doing an NTFS quick format and only was going for like a second or two. So... I know there are services out there where I ship out the drive and they grab the data and give it to me... I don't like that idea because I'm a little strapped for cash right now and I don't feel comfortable sending a fragile hard drive with important data on it to god knows where on a FedEx truck... I'm hoping that there is a piece of software that will allow me to pull the data with 0% risk of data loss... I know that's really fucking optimistic but like I said... this was IMPORTANT SHIT on this drive... I can assure you that if I fix this I will be backing up on google drive till the day I die... Many Thanks -Ninjasupahsquid
  17. So... I need a Server... One that can do multiple things... Heres the parts list... Open to suggestions https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FKTs68 The goal of this server is to act as 1. An FTP Server (Hence the 10TB HDD) 2.A Factorio Server 3.A Minecraft Server 4.Occasional Video Rendering Server... (IDC how long it takes... Just dont want it hogging the GPU on my Main rig) Would I be able to both Take advantage of the 12600k's efficiency cores with 4 different vm's or would virtualbox not be able to work like that also I don't want to have to split up cores and ram to each vm. I would like them to share resources as they need them. So that if I suddenly slam the Server with a large file transfer it will be able to use what resources it needs within reason of course... Dont want the Minecraft server to be bogged down with a file transfer. So Should I just run it all in one instance of windows... or multiple vm's? Many Thanks -Ninjasupahsquid
  18. So... I have the LG 27GL650F-B LG's website Says this monitor supports HDR 10 The GUI on the display suggests it has HDR capability and I have the Latest Drivers for my graphics Card Ive tried running HDR In games and Windows still wont allow me to run HDR Im at my wits end...
