Mio85 got a reaction from MadeInChina O69 in Does this list need any improving? If I wana Overclock? For first build.
8086k is just a pre-overclocked 8700k. when 8700k it will be about the same fast, maybe slightly worse (1-5%) for $100 less.

Get an i7 4770k if you're gonna buy used. It outperforms the snot out of a 2600k.
Getting a used chip and board will cost you around $300ish and your RAM will be compatible.

Why APU?. Explain. Why spend money on a CPU with "GPU literally" in it, if you just going to upgrade it?? Why even bother? If the OP is looking for a permanent solution. This is not enough.
If I was to do what the OP is doing, but not one PC but multiple. I would do a 1080 this are darn near MSRP no denying either, and a i7-7700k.
Why you ask? Why, not be cheap? Let's say money is a huge factor here. Ok well, this is a good choice. This CPU is cheaper than the i7-8700k. Well, then the argument about this and a i7-8700 Sparks. Then he core count and thread Sparks. It's basically politics, so inevitable.
The OP needs to comment his opinion on this. All of this.

If you can overclock, and you can find a 2600k for less than $100, then it will be a decent deal. Just know that within the next few years the older i7 chips might start struggling as games are starting to use more and more cores.

Yeah, I would personally just suggest saving money for a newer platform.

In which he can re-use his RAM.
I personally wouldn't do such a thing, I'm just offering a possible upgrade for his budget.

Also in gaming (especially with an overclock) it will get a similar performance to a R5 Ryzen.

That's why I'm saying you should also get a compatible motherboard.

Mio85 got a reaction from TechyBen in Hardest game to run right now
Depends, do you mean? Hardest to run legitly? Like a well optimized game that is just super demanding?
I would say Crysis 3, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Witcher 3, GTA 5 (With Max Graphics including advanced), Arma 3 (if the map.mission is well optimized)

Yup, I'm just doing my duty and reminding those who might forget to not pre-order. Especially from EA and Ubisoft lol.

You shouldn't be pre-ordering anyway, see the reviews or actual gameplay by a 3rd party and not the devs then pick with your wallets.

I honestly wouldn't expect that GPU to do much more than run a display, maybe some retro games from the XP era.

Nothing, the graphics cards are plugged into different motherboard's PCI-E slots.

It sounds like a PSU issue, if you are able to test by using a different one, that would be good.

Mio85 reacted to Skiiwee29 in Want to know about SLI'ability of two cards
as long as they are the same chip, IE 2 970s like you have listed, it will work in SLI. But, SLI is a dying standard and support is not great and may not work or work well in many titles out today. Its honestly not worth the money IMO.
-
Mio85 reacted to AskTJ in Want to know about SLI'ability of two cards
SLI isn't supported in most games. It works bad and isn't worth it.
-
Mio85 got a reaction from Ithanul in Is SLI support declining?
It's too early to say that SLI support is declining.
The 10 series is the first time that a xx60 and below cards stopped supporting SLI.
But SLI has never been a good investment. It's always been an unstable, un-guaranteed, and power hungry solution to playing games.
The only time SLI is recommended is if you're pairing two of the highest tier'd cards together. So 2 GTX 1080Ti's, or 2 GTX 1080's (before the 1080Ti release.)

As a gamer, pizza is also an important investment.

I prefer my games to look nice and run well. 4K usually only gives you the former unless you invest in a high end setup.
