  1. exactly I even saw a topic in this very forum where the mistake was wrong syntax, but I'm 100% sure I used the correct one
  2. I don't really understand, it already didn't work on the Admin account
  3. Hello there, I wanted to limit the times the main account (Administrator account) of my PC can login. Because it's not a local user, I used the "net user [user] /time" command in PowerShell. The command didn't spit out any errors or something and when I checked back with "net user [user]", it showed the correct time intervals. However, I can still login to this account without any problems, as if the time restrictions didn't exist. I tried restarting my PC multiple times and even tried it on another, non-Admin account, but the command seems to be doing absolutely nothing. Any ideas why? Edit: I tried setting the time limits while being logged on to an Admin and a non-Admin account and setting the limits for Admin and non-Admin account, none of these combinations worked
  4. I'm currently trying to set up my modem (Zyxel VMG1312-b30a) for my new internet connection. It initially couldn't get an internet connection, so I followed the user's guide, which told me to add a new WAN configuration in the modem's web interface. The problem is, I now have to fill in tons of stuff (as shown in the screenshots below) I know absolutely nothing about, so a bit of assistance there would be much appreciated. FYI: I live in Germany and the ISP is o2, if that is of relevance. Thanks in advance!
  5. Thank you so much! I can't really say if it "worked" or not, but since there were no errors or something similar, there's no reason to believe it didn't...
  6. That didn't work. I put 255.255.255.0 in the subnet prefix length (because there isn't a box specifically saying "subnet mask") and left everything else empty. I got back "Can't save IP settings. Check one or more settings and try again."
  7. The backstory here is quite long but I'll try to keep it short. Basically, my new internet connection got installed today. Because I already had a good router lying around, I ordered a modem (Zyxel VMG1312-B30A) to use it with the new connection. While setting up the modem I encountered a problem where I can't access its web interface, which is needed to finish the setup process. Some googling later, it looks like it has a "special" firmware version installed that blocks the access to this web interface. To install the new firmware, I have to give my PC a static IP. But, (and here come's my acual question), besides the IP itself (192.168.1.1), Windows also wants to know the subnet prefix length, a gateway and a preferred DNS, and I have absolutely no clue what's supposed to go there or what that even is. I fear that this isn't a simple question to answer, but as I said, I know too little about networking to say for sure. (I live in Germany and the ISP is o2, idk if that helps or makes things more difficult xD) Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help!
  8. Yes, everything that's connected via ethernet works flawlessly. Well now I feel stupid... That would solve all my problems, wouldn't it? Are you sure the Honor router can be configuered that way / is this a common feature for routers? I'm not sure I fully understand your question. I have a DSL connection that goes into the router/combo unit and is then distributed around the house. As far as I know (or can see from its online store) my ISP does not sell standalone modems.
  9. As far as I can tell from forum discussions elsewhere, yes. But it's mentioned everytime that my ISP's router gets its signal in the VLAN7-format (or something) which apparently makes it very difficult to work with for other devices, which could pose a problem. Speed-wise everything is fine (and as advertised), but sometimes (in very irregular patterns) the Wifi just cuts out for connected devices (Smart TVs, Phones, Laptops, everything), which makes a reconnect necessary and is annoying at best. So far no technicians from my ISP or anyone else could help, which is why I would like to switch routers. Both routers have all the features I need, the only thing I'm uncertain of is whether the landline phones connected via DECT that my parents use will still work, but that's an issue for another post... The reason I why want/would like to have the Honor router, if that's what you're asking, is basically because of the bundled items.
  10. I'm gonna start by saying I'm pretty much a newb when it comes to networking, so please excuse any stupid questions if they come up. So, I was recently made aware of the pretty sweet offer Huawei/Honor has for their Honor Router 3. But, as it turns out, my "router" (Speedport 3) I got from my ISP (Telekom Germany) is actually a router/modem combo unit, so I can't just replace it with the Honor router (correct me if I'm wrong?). Now my question is, would it be feasable and/or overly complicated to have both routers on the network? (My guess would be that I'd have to turn off the Wifi from one of them (preferably the ISP's one) for it to work, but I'm far from sure)
  11. I'm currently planning a build for my cousin, and one of the last things I need to decide on is the motherboard. Since he wants his build to be as black as possible with a few RGB sprinkles and I'm going X570, my choice is somewhat narrowed down. But I still have no clue what I should look for, especially when it comes to VRMs etc. Additionally, he wants some RGB fans, so (please correct me if I'm wrong!) a couple of those headers are a must. But I've never dabbled with RGB before, so I could be totally off on that one. Thanks in advance! Original post:
  12. Considering that, I would suggest you take the 1660 Ti if there's no RTX 2060 at a steep discount. The 1660 Super is imo a bit too weak for what you want to do (especially if you want to actually make use of your high refresh rate monitor)
  13. What exactly are your workloads? Gaming, content creation, CAD even? What's your CPU? What monitor are you planning to drive with your GPU (resolution, refresh rate?)
