Thank you! I love purple too, after this picture I changed the dashboard and keyboard to the same color scheme, pretty nice. About the wall mount, I actually 3D printed it (the gamepads/headphone mounts too). There's plenty of models on Thingiverse.

Thanks for all your inputs guys!
I guess If I kind make it do anything more interesting that's an idea to use.
That now is an interesting use case, given that it could be useful for simracing that I do.
You got a very fine setup right there my man, looks very neat. I'd though of doing something like that with a phone on a desk but not a massive tablet however you made it work.

KJaboski reacted to LowRentChef in Modded H440 Ryzen Build
Just finished my most recent build, and wanted to share it because I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

    Specs:

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 1700X
Cooler: CM 212 EVO w/2 LEPA 120mm Chopper Fans
    MOBO: ASUS Crosshair Hero VI
    VC1: ASUS Strix GTX 1070 8GB
VC2: EVGA GT 740 Superclocked Single Slot 4GB
    RAM: GSKILL 16GB 3200Mhz DDR4 RAM
    HDD1: Toshiba OCZ 256GB RD400 NVMe M.2
    HDD2: Seagate Firecuda 2TB 3.5" SATA

Originally, I photoshopped together this image to plan out what I wanted the case to look like. I wasn't able to get a useable image of the exact vinyl wrap that I wanted, but I found some carbon fiber print of a similar color, so I went with that.

Just laying out some of the parts. It made me feel like I was doing something while I waited over a month for the motherboard to show up.

The vinyl I chose had a cool chameleon mosaic look that I hadn't seen on another case before, so I went with it.

Applying the vinyl wrap. It didn't stick as well as I would have hoped, but I kept pressing it down when it separated, and eventually the glue dried up enough to stay.

The NZXT H440 has a lighted NZXT badge on the basement of the case, and I had the idea when planning the build that I could make a different plate with my Steam gamertag logo on it that would be backlit with some LED strips. First I cut the strips to length and soldered in a section of 4-wire LED strip power wire in between the two strips, so that I could use one connection to power both strips.

You can see them installed here. The Crosshair Hero VI has 2 RGB headers on the motherboard, so I just connected the strip to one of those, letting me control it through the Aura software instead of having to mess with one of those janky USB connections that you have to open the case when you want to change lighting colors or patterns. The adhesive hated the case here as well (probably has something to do with the anti-dust coating on the NZXT H440, but the logo plate was going to be held in place with magnets, so I figured it would hold this as well once it was installed.)

I cut the plate out of 1/4" sheet of polycarbonate, then bead-blasted it to give it a diffuse, foggy effect against the backlighting I had already installed.

Then I printed out my logo on regular paper, covered it with a single layer of clear packing tape (which also held it in place against the vinyl I stuck it to), and carefully cut out the logo with an X-ACTO knife. Once I had stuck all of the vinyl pieces to the plate, I stuck some cheap strip magnets from Wal-Mart on the back and installed it to the case.

And a few BIOS flashes and software installs later, it was complete. Again, not perfect or award worthy, but I was able to get it pretty close to my original vision, and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. (Don't mind the messy cabling behind the case, I'm planning to velcro tie and cable manage the shit out of it when I have a spare evening, lol.

Decided to go with the blue color for the logo since a second pump failure on the Corsair AIO cooling loop (and a current lack of overclocking headroom for Ryzen) convinced me to go back to air cooling, and I found some Blue LED fans I liked the looks of.

Anyway, just wanted to post this up to see what everyone thought. Happy modding!

KJaboski reacted to EulersK in First Build - "Achievement"
    History and Namesake
I started working at a computer repair shop when I began college to help pay for the ungodly expenses. Before then, I had simply dipped my toe in computer repair. Before that job, the most I had ever done was replace an HDD. By the time I graduated, I was the shop manager, and I would (of course) work on the majority of computers to some extent. Directly after college, I began to freelance my computer work to supplement my terrible income. My jobs ranged from simple printer setups for the elderly to building full systems for rich kids on their birthday. The theme was always the same - I was in direct contact with often top of the line machines, meanwhile all I had was a stock gaming rig from Gateway that I got as a graduation gift in high school. About a year ago, however, I finally landed a great job thanks to my degree and even got my employer to pay for furthering my education... along with a signing bonus. Overnight, I had a very good chunk of money sitting in the bank, and I only had one thing on my mind. My Achievement Build began rolling.

    Specifications and Choices
I knew that I had neither the funds nor the desire for a custom water loop, although I despise the look of air coolers in such a small case. Thus, the AiO cooler was a must. Silence was also a necessity, and with the help of several users on this very forum, I've finally finished silencing this build. I literally put the finishing touches on tweaking fan curves today, and it's finally where it needs to be. The motherboard was a no brainer due to color. RAM was chosen based on the ability to paint them, so the Corsair Dominator series with the added light bars was added. While better SSD's are out there, I wanted a custom touch, so I went with the Kingston Hyper X drives.

    NZXT S340 White
    Asus Sabertooth z97 Mark S
    Intel i7-4790K
    EVGA GTX 980
    EVGA 850W Gold PSU
    Corsair Dominator 4x4GB
    EVGA Hybrid Cooler
    NZXT Kraken X61
    Kingston Hyper X (2x120GB, RAID 0)

    Customization
The Corsair Dominator sticks were either painted stark white or left silver with the stock white bar which I recolored orange to match the build. Both Kingston SSD's were painted white, with the black spikes retained (this was done four times due to bleeding issues with the spray paint). The EVGA backplate for the GPU was painted, as was the shroud that came with the hybrid cooler A carbon fiber vinyl film was added to the top, as the black ruined the build (idea stolen from Enderman on this forum!) An RGB LED strip was added to the top, allowing me to control the color with the included remote Note: All painting was done using Plastidip
    Pictures
And now for the reason people actually lurk on these subforums!

Here is the neutral version. The RGB light strip emits a white light, although the camera makes it look blue, so it is turned off in this picture.

The following pictures show why I chose a white build. I like to change things up, and the light strip allowed me to do that. The flash on my camera washed out the colors, although the flash is required to focus... so, I apologize for the blurriness:

    And now for a closeup...

    Simplicity...

And, finally, my point of view. A Logitech Atlas G410 keyboard, Logitech G600 mouse, and Razer Tartarus accompany my gaming. Still need to upgrade the monitor, but that's for another time.

And there we have it! Input is more than welcome. As I said, this is my first build. I'm extremely happy with it, although I'm more than willing to hear suggestions. Thanks for the help, and thanks for checking this out!

So, ever since the Xbox one was released, and we knew it's dimensions, I was pretty certain a pc would fit in there.
And so ever since I've been planning out how to optimize a build in there. I've had different idea's on how to make it possible, but yet it never quite fit. Then I finally decided to keep the psu out of the case (just like the xbox has) and work from there. And let me tell you there's a whole lot of room.
So now finally the time has come to actually build the damn thing, and see if my planning is any good.

    So here's the component list:

    Case:            Xbox one (off course)
    Mobo:           Asus Maximus VII Impact
    CPU:             Intel Core I5 4690k
    Memory:       16Gb Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1600MHz CL9 (Low profile)

PSU:            SilverStone ST45SF-G (450W sfx, 80 plus gold)
    Storage:       750 GB WD Black 2,5" hdd + 250GB Samsung 850 EVO ssd + .........
    Cooling:       EK-FB ASUS M6I - Nickel, EK-XRES 100 DDC 3.2 PWM Elite, EK-FC R9 Nano - Nickel, EK-CoolStream PE 240, 2x Noctua NF-F12

The home stretch...finally.  Pulling it all together.

The bad thing about mITX cases...wiring with no space.  That USB 3.0 cable was a pain, but a little clip helped.

Putting the last piece of the body together.  Looks like a turtle on it's back.

Now to fit the cooler in once all the wiring to the mb is done.

It's interesting trying to work on something that has legs.

It definitely fills up the case!  Now it's time for the custom side panel with the EL wire in it.

Since the cooler is a bit tall, I need to knock a hole in this panel to fit.  And even if the cooler did manage to squeeze below it, it would still need to an intake to breath.  The nice thing about using 1/8" acrylic for the bottom of my mold is that it leaves me a nice piece to work with as a template once it's pulled apart.

Originally I traced the fan to the acrylic.

This would work, but I had doubts as to how perfect I could get it.  I wound up finding the center of the fan using the mounting screws and used a 6" hole saw instead, and then notched for the mounts with a scroll saw. Once I got the template worked out, I transferred that to the side panel and...

Still have a little cleaning to do on the hole, but works perfect, just how I wanted it.  I was debating on what to do for screws for the panel since the originals are too short.  I flipped the original feet and used them for nice and chunky washers for some standard M3 screws.  Little black paint and they'll blend right in.  All that's left now is a little touch up paint and cleaning up the side panel edges, but I'll give you all some teasers of the finished product.

    Idk conclusion?
General advice? Pick a good PSU for your system and let it last. Choose one from a good OEM, one that's known for being high quality, and is as high up on this list as you can get for your budget. Balance out your builds and don't pick flagship components like CPU and GPU combined with a tier 6 PSU. People don't hate on the Corsair CX because it's a CX, but because people are pairing it with OC'd i7s and two flagship GPUs and wonder why they break.
