  5. Gee willikers you're right! What an amazing observation. Gonna have to do it now, just a matter of when really. I got Amazon Prime for another couple weeks so I have that amount of time to decide since shipping will be free. It's $70 right now but it's not straight from Sabrent. It's from a 3rd party Amazon seller. The good news is they have 100% positive feedback. If I go for the Sabrent Rocket 4.0 instead for the same price, I'd imagine it just operates at Gen 3 right? I guess I ask this just in case I somehow decide to build me a new PC within the next 5-10 years or so and I can reuse this drive. I wouldn't think I'd get the 5000/4400 speeds on this motherboard either but I'm totally fine with that. I do wonder what speeds it would default to on this board, maybe the 3400/3000 of the 3.0 Sabrent Rocket? Seems to me the hardware would be slightly better since it's a newer SSD but I think it's only like a half a year newer.
  6. @Kid.Lazer @Eigenvektor Well I'm proud to post that the Windows installation was a breeze and took less than a half hour to complete. Thanks again for the perfect guidance for this process. Optimizing Windows once it was up and running took a good couple of hours though, since I like to optimize the entirety of pretty much all you can think of that could be optimized within the OS itself. I just left the HDD inside the PC and plan to not even mess with it until the PC one day needs extra storage. I also unplugged the DVD drive because of the noise it made when you turn on the PC. Everything went so smoothly, I am now thinking about cloning my personal computers 1 TB HDD boot drive to a 1 TB SSD. I've been putting it off for just over 7 years now simply because I want absolutely no issues to arise because of how well my personal PC has been running flawlessly for me. Will a PCI-E 3.0 M.2 SSD be compatible with my MSI B150M BAZOOKA PLUS motherboard? Such as the Sabrent Rocket 1 TB for $70? The motherboards website shows... Storage • Intel® B150 Chipset • 6 x SATA 6Gb/s ports • 1 x M.2 slot (Key M) - Supports up to PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA 6Gb/s - Supports 2242/ 2260/ 2280 storage devices - Supports PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe Mini-SAS SSD with Turbo U.2 Host Card** * SATA1 port will be unavailable when installing the M.2 SATA module in M.2 slot. So I'm guessing it does, but the... "* SATA1 port will be unavailable when installing the M.2 SATA module in M.2 slot." I do NOT like seeing. I think that's where my current 1 TB HDD is installed.
  7. Excellent, thank you @Kid.Lazer and @Eigenvektor for the responses. Will apply all of this tomorrow with the SSD/HDD.
  8. So it's completely fine to disconnect the HDD that Windows is on and plug in the SSD? Then I'm guessing the PC powers up directly into the BIOS instead of Windows? Which is where I'd find the USB flash to install Windows? I'm not assuming I have to, I want to. Cloning is not required since what is on the HDD I have no care for. I want a completely fresh install. Also, do I need to allocate the SSD before installing Windows? I would think this happens when installing Windows via the flash drive.
  9. I just got a brand new 240 GB SSD and I'm looking to install it into a 10 year old PC with Windows 10 installed onto its current HDD. I do NOT care about what is currently on the HDD as I just did a fresh Windows 10 install onto it. I have written down both Windows keys I found within the PC via the registry, powershell and command prompts. The powershell and command prompt keys are the same and I'm thinking to use the registry key as it's most likely the key for Windows 10 Home while the other 2 keys are for the original Windows 8.1 that was originally installed on this PC. I have the SATA cable ready for the SSD and hopefully the other cable that connects to the SSD via the PSU is waiting inside the PC(I have yet to open it yet but it should be there). I have also prepared the Windows 10 installation via a USB flash drive with the Windows Creation Tool. So I'm wanting to know the best steps to take for this entire process as I'd also like to reuse the current HDD for extra storage. I'd like to wipe it clean. Also, I'm fairly familiar with the creating New Volumes process via Disk Management. Also, I will be doing this tomorrow, not today. So I'm looking to get the best step by step possible.
  10. Mordheim City of the Damned is FREE right now on GOG. 72% Mostly Positive reviews on Steam... link. You have until January 28th, 2024 to claim and keep this freebie forever. Developed by Canadian developer Rogue Factor, the creators of Necromunda Underhive Wars and the upcoming 2025 title Hell is Us, this is a tactical RPG game based on the 1999 tabletop game Mordheim where you lead warbands into bloody and lethal skirmishes. The game received mixed reviews, although gaining an average score of 74/100 on Metacritic. Some reviewers praised the "pleasantly morbid" atmosphere and deep game mechanics as befitting the tabletop original, but the game AI, steep and unforgiving learning curve, and technical issues (particularly UI and load times) were described as frustrating. Rock, Paper, Shotgun was particularly critical of the uninspiring, unexciting and languid combat, calling the game dumb and flawed.
  11. Read this, I stopped posting about Epic freebies 4 years ago. I also stopped updating the blog around Epic freebie #202. Another reason I stopped posting about Epic freebies is because they're always leaked well before they are given out. For example, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will be free in a half hour and next Thusdays freebie will be Sail Forth and the Thursday after that it will be a game called LOVE. Sometimes I do post about Epic freebies that take place outside of every Thursday, as mentioned here...
  12. South of the Circle is FREE right now on GOG. 83% Very Positive reviews on Steam... Link. This is a limited time freebie so claim ASAP. This is a deep narrative story rich adventure game developed by State of Play. It was influenced by other adventure games such as Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch. Originally the team wanted to create a game about great explorers visiting Antarctica in the 1930s, though this idea was subsequently scrapped. They obtained photos of Faraday Station during the 1960s from a mutual friend, and went to King George Island south of Chile to perform research for the game. It features a minimalistic artstyle and was inspired by screen prints during that period. The game explores masculinity, denial, isolation and reliability of memories. Some people say the experience was light on traditional gameplay and noted its general lack of interactivity and expressed their disappointment that the choices players made in the game had minimal impact on the story.
  13. The drives I use, are nowhere in this thread. If you'll scroll up, I provided an alternative to the original HDD I recommended, because someone identified it as an SAS drive. My very first post, I stated this... "What do you think of this for half that price? It was manufactured in August of 2015. That's around the time I got mine(December of 2016) and it's still alive and kicking without a single issue. Holds hundreds of games and movies." When I stated, That's around the time I got mine(December of 2016) and it's still alive and kicking without a single issue... What I meant by this statement is that around the time I got mine(a completely different HDD), it's still alive and kicking without a single issue. I can see how this caused confusion because I didn't mention that mine(my HDD) is a completely different model. It's a Seagate yes, just not this model. But it's very similar and released around the same time as this one. All HDD's I've ever owned are SATA HDD's, and I can recommend similar SATA drives with flying colors.
  14. The $76 HDD I posted is definitely a SATA HDD. It's now priced at $82. ALL HDD's I've ever used are SATA.
  15. The description lists it as a SATA drive, my mistake. Welp, here is the alternative for $76. I still don't know what you mean by this either. Nor does it change the fact that it could work flawlessly for many years. Which it did for me with every single HDD I've ever owned. Not a single one has failed on me. It's difficult for me to NOT recommend an HDD because of this.
  16. What on earth makes you think this is not a SATA HDD? You got that right, not a single one that I've purchased has failed. As for luck with WD drives, this isn't a lottery. What do you mean here? And there's also the reality of what could also happen. It could also... NOT fail. 7 years, still going strong. And get this, there's one major reason I have not even replaced the HDD I use as my OS drive with an SSD. And that one major reason is how flawless it has performed for me over these 7 years.
  17. Lacuna A Sci-Fi Noir Adventure is FREE right now on GOG. 92% Very Positive reviews on Steam... Link. You have until December 28th to claim and keep this freebie forever so grab asap. Released on May 20, 2021 by DigiTales Interactive, this is a pixel graphic detective noir game where you ask questions, collect evidence and put the pieces together until the truth reveals itself... or not. The story branches and ends based on your actions. What I like about this game is that it's not a point and click game and instead you have platformer movement controls.
  18. So you don't trust in what this drive has done for me over the past 7 years?
  19. What do you think of this for half that price? It was manufactured in August of 2015. That's around the time I got mine(December of 2016) and it's still alive and kicking without a single issue. Holds hundreds of games and movies.
  20. Caveblazers is FREE right now on GOG. 87% Very Positive reviews on Steam... Link. You have until Christmas Day to claim and keep this freebie forever. Caveblazers is a 2017 action rogue-like platformer developed by Deadpan Games. Compared to Spelunky, it has a faster tempo, high difficulty and increased levels of loot.
  21. That's true, it's to prevent people using dozens of accounts to claim dozens of keys. You haven't spent $5 on Steam yet? If not, the Steam Winter sale is tomorrow so there's bound to be something of your interest for $5. I've been on that 7 Days to Die lately, it should hit $5-$6 tomorrow if you don't already own it. It's still in early access but it's been receiving seasonal updates year in and year out since 2009. The game completely changes over the years and it provides hundreds, if not thousands of hours of gameplay. It's also fun to use mods and they've grown big time the past few years.
