No, you can leave your Library SSD alone.  Just install Windows on the Gen 4, then Steam.  Go into Settings, and find the Library aspect to point it to the old folder.

In the Steam client options under "Download" is a point " Steam Library Folders". Just add the library from D and then restart Steam. Now all the games should be recognized.

EXPO or XMP, it should  have a profile.  Or you can manually set.

Dedayog reacted to MiszS in is the samsung 990 pro a good choice?
I'm pretty sure it's not gonna affect game perfomance at all, just how fast it loads, but even there, the difference is very small, 990 Pro is an overpriced ssd, and you don't need it for gaming

100% viable.  Most people use a rad for exhaust or intake without other fans supporting that aspect.

Dedayog got a reaction from busby_bee_boy in is my pcpartpicker list any good?
Most likely nothing.  Unless that board was manufactured 3 years ago, it will have a BIOS that can run the 5600 just fine.  If it's an old shelf sittter, you would need to update the BIOS with a previous gen chip like a 1600 or 3600, etc.

Can you find a B550 that is nice and cheap, would be a more guaranteed BIOS.

Dedayog reacted to OddOod in Radiator fans as only intake?
not that it would be much of a problem if that were true.

I will mention that that CPU is easily cooled with an aircooler which will be more reliable in the long run

yeah exactly when all the fans will be setup i will have 3 intake fans which will be on a rad and 3 exhaust fans 1 at the back 2 at the top

Get Macrium Reflect.  Clone the HDD to the SSD, provided the entire size of the data will fit on the SSD.

Is the HDD a 1TB HDD, or are all your files adding up to 1TB?

If the SSD is a name brand like Samsung or Crucial, they have their own software for free as well.

Note:  You can't just easily move the OS alone, so I am advising to move ALL stuff off the HDD and lose the HDD.

This is one of those topics that I find fascinating to watch people converse about. Meanwhile i'm sitting here as a human sack of bones thinking there is no way anyone can tell the difference in these single digit millisecond differences but its discussed as if its the end of the world.

    Very interesting.

Dedayog reacted to Agall in 7800X3D VS. 14700K in terms of end to end latency.
I haven't tried a 14700k, but I can tell you 3D v-cache has some magic in this territory. Experienced it with the 5800x3D and have replicated the same results with my 7950x3D when testing CCD0 vs CCD1. The biggest advantage of 3D v-cache being the smoothness of framerate in my opinion.

The theory is that the extra 64MB of L3 cache will frequently prevent the need for the CPU to operate out of the RAM for some instructions, like CPU draw calls of player positions. This significantly reduces the latency it takes to draw that call and send it to the GPU.

Could the 14700k potentially do that with fast enough RAM, if my theory is correct? Probably, but I'd rather just stick to 3D v-cache for my gaming PCs until its succeeded as the superior technology.
