Use one, it will be good.

Just build it, they aren't fragile.

Dedayog reacted to Mark Kaine in Is overclocking safe?
try it out, but you aren't going to get better performance than with the next higher cpu model.

also try pbo / negative voltage offset tho as that will likely give you slightly better performance than traditional "overclocking" , especially on ryzen cpus.

edit: also sidenote, with a bad overclock you not only can reduce the lifespan of your components, you can also get worse performance, even tho your pushing higher frequencies, look up "clock stretching" for this, so whatever you do always do comparison checks to how it performs at stock.

Static electricity isn't something that materials 'have'. It gets generated through various methods, including friction. So rubbing it on a surface that is also an insulator will cause charges to be generated.

Use a towel on your table. If you're paranoid, use a towel that had a dryer sheet with it in the dryer.

Otherwise, any surface is fine.  I build on the floor, rugs, my bed, and even once in my trunk.

I have 24 GB. I was just testing it since it wouldn't boot up after installing the graphics card. works fine now, with all of my case fans disconnected.

Dedayog got a reaction from kb5zue in Will my power supply be an issue for a day or two?
Your friends are incorrect.  It can't kill a GPU from lack of power.  It just will fail to run, or crash, or have artifacts as it tries to work.

Electro Magnetic Interference I am assuming.

We can;t know without knowing a LOT more about his setup, his house, etc. Normally, no EMI isn't an issue.

There is most likely something else going on, but again we need a lot more info.

The RAM will all run at the slowest stick, but shouldn't be any real issues.

Overkill is determined by the workload, not the processor.  Do you need or use anywhere near 64GB?

Why not just try it and see?

Quite a lot, bf2042 runs a lot smoother now. I used to get big stutters at times but now it’s perfect.

The noise difference is also very noticeable. The Pc is quiet and doesn’t get noticeably louder when under load.

meh unit but it should still be more than enough for a 5600g + 1660s so yeah id fault the gpu here

btw if you get a refund for the 1660s buy a used rx 5700(xt) instead as those have more vram and outperform a gtx 1080 whilst the 1660s is somewhere inbetween a 1060 6gb and a 1070

Gigabyte's B650 AUROS Pro AX is my pick, it's got a little more power delivery than the Elite AX and was same price though at MC.  If they're significantly priced apart, get the ELite AX.

But honestly, most any B650 is going to provide no difference in performance.

Dedayog got a reaction from BlackVirus in Travel Adapters - Do they affect power delivery of fast chargers abroad?
That's the USB only. Adapters don't cut back power outside the outlets delivery, as they need to perform for the item being powered.  Can you imagine nothing working if you took it abroad?  No, that's not a thing.

For example, the power draw for a US outlet is lower so you may get slightly slower charging.   Like how the OnePlus chargers in the US are different Wattage than Europe, etc.

Do you have kids now?  As you reference "Start to have them".

Maybe think about why you want to have kids if the world is not a place you want them to exist in?

I have 2 stepkids and educating them is a constant battle vs the forces of evil (read:  everything else).   You cannot stop the tide, but you can teach them to be aware of it  and to swim.

Otherwise, there are 8 billion people on this planet.  We don't really need more, so don't feel obligated to have them.

Dedayog got a reaction from AI_Must_Di3 in PSU Popped while the PC was in sleep mode; how do I prove it's not functional for RMA?
You do not need to prove anything.  They accept the RMA submission, you send it in, they test it and then refund you or send another unit if they see it's not working.  If they find nothing wrong, they send it back on your dime.

You do NOT in any circumstances try to use a suspected busted PSU on your stuff.  Ever.

Deepcool gets a big "Fuck you" for this if they indeed asked you to send proof. Hoping there is a misunderstanding here.

Dedayog reacted to YoungBlade in Worth upgrading from 3070?
Are you actually unhappy with the performance of your RTX 3070? Or are you just getting FOMO?

The 3070 is still a very capable card in 2024. The 8GB VRAM buffer can be an issue in some games, but apart from needing to keep settings in check for that, there really isn't any game it can't handle and it can deliver a high refresh rate experience in any competitive title.
