  1. So that 24 pin doesn't fit into the motherboard? Or they fit but don't work?
  2. This. I "think" Steam and other game libraries will log into the proper account based on the user Windows is logged in under. So you won't have to keep swapping Steam accounts.
  3. Well sorta. He was probably correct if you were correct in your original post. You were NOT at idle, so the solution was different than we were led to work on. Glad you figured it out.
  4. Good point. Many people assume idle is THEM not using the machine, whereas Windows (or any OS) can be doing quite a lot even with the user downstairs eating dinner.
  5. Why is that intriguing? What are YOUR thoughts on it? I find it incredibly non-interesting. So 1 game has less input on Linux? Why should that be anything other than "cool, I guess"? Linux has benefits, Windows has benefits. *shrug*
  6. 1. No 2. No 3. Yes You won't notice a difference at all, as they will both perform in Gen 3 mode far far far above anything you'll need from them. Gen 4 boot vs Gen 3 boot - no difference Gen 4 gaming vs Gen 3 gaming - no difference No combination of Gen 4, Gen 3, Boot, Gaming will produce any real world noticeable difference.
  7. Ican't see the seller's site at work, it's blocked. Sorry if their pcpartpicker info is fraudulent. Look at the 7900XT then. Or the 4070 Ti Super. Any model, they only have looks and cooling differences, so pick the one you like the look of best.
  8. Edit: Seller has different price on website vs pcpartpicker
  9. Make sure to PBO/CO, to get a little more from that 7700X.
  10. So you're having issues finding the PERFECT fan, is that right? Chasing waterfalls... What's wrong with the ones you have? Can you point out what they are failing at or you don't like? Or is this all an OCD issue where you struggle to settle or make a decision? I ask because all these fans are simply... just fans. They all work with minor variations. If you';re squabbling over the smallest of details... you're going to just get more "someone said" stuff here. Someone will like Corsair, someone won't, someone will recommend Lian Li, someone will say they suck cuz their dog had them in their super computer, etc etc etc. Hopefully you can come to terms with the fact your current fans are just fine and enjoy them. Or ignore all the chaos and buy what YOU like.
  11. How are you unsure about them if you HAVE THEM? Can't you make the decision for yourself by looking, listening, measuring temps, etc? I can understand issues when trying to choose a fan. What about Lian Li Uni Fans?
  12. Minecraft's memory issues aren't with your installed RAM, but the amount allocated in the Java settings. How to Allocate More RAM to Minecraft: A Step-By-Step Guide (gamerant.com)
  13. FYI, Windows 10/11 is a perfectly fine environment for Plex/File servers. It's the easiest to use for beginners as well. If you want to Frankenstein a setup, be my guest. But a server is supposed to be working 24/7 and easy to use. Putting together a system you have to "get it to work right" to keep your important stuff... not what I would do.
  14. What are you using now? How intense is your editing? Big boy money making stuff or just add moms face to Dad's body stuff? Realistically if you're using shit now, anything you get will be a huge upgrade. Like going from a 10 year old Honda Civic to a Corvette or Ferrari, won't matter since the upgrade is sooooo huge.
  15. Interesting, as that will definitely make a difference to me. The OLED is a gorgeous screen. I'll dig deeper. Edit: Looks like the 512 is just the LCD model, as no OLED is mentioned in the specs lower... edited main post and subsequent ones.
  16. Well the 1060 will be cheaper, as it's old and weak (relatively). Don't buy it. Find out your budget and then look at what you can get.
  17. My gf has finally gotten into PC gaming due solely to the Steam Deck (as a concept). Being able to play together rather than find time to "get away" to get my game on is priceless. Steam has official refurbished units but they seem to be the original LCD versions, not the OLED. We play Palia currently, but have played New World and Enshrouded recently too. Performs fantastic for a handheld and devs are actively optimizing for it which is nice. https://store.steampowered.com/sale/steamdeckrefurbished
  18. Get a refurb. My GF loves her Steam Deck, and I use it occasionally. It's a compromise, of course, but for $360 for the 512GB OLED model... really can't be beat for gaming. Everything from New World, Palia, Enshrouded, etc. we've played and it's really worth it.
  19. You get a PSU based on the CPU/GPU, not the motherboard. Finalize the build, selecting PSU last based on all other parts.
  20. Do you have a hard drive, or all SSD's? The 5700XT is a fine card still. Even if you're running 2666 RAM speed, I can';t see that being that much of an issue. That 10700 isn't awesome but not terrible for what it is. It's like you have all average gear but you're claiming a sub-par performance?
  21. I'd probably start with: 1. Update BIOS, Windows, all drivers. 2. Reset BIOS to Defaults 3. Memtest, or just run with 1 stick at time to rule out faulty module. Start there, one at a time.
  22. How is this? The subreddit is simply labeled LTT, with no actual link to LMG/LTT at all? If so, why is it a popular thing? Or just because it's labeled LTT< people will flock to it?
  23. Yes, upgrade your machine and use the old for the NAS. Mine was setup with a Ryzen 1600 + 1050Ti for years until I threw in the 5600. 500 Movies, 2000 TV episodes, various documents, etc. Runs without issue 24/7. Just make sure to remote in as Windows Updates or any other update will stop Plex Server from starting (haven't taken the time to make that more efficient yet). You do NOT need a robust machine for Plex or file sharing, so invest in the drives and backup. My setup: Plex : AMD Ryzen 5 5600 - Gigabyte B550M AORUS Elite AX - G. Skill Ripjaws V 16GB 2400Mhz - MSI 1050Ti 4GB - Crucial P3 Plus 500GB + WD Red NAS 4TBx2 - TP-Link AC1200 PCIe Wifi - EVGA SuperNova 650 P2 - ASUS Prime AP201 - Spectre 24" 1080p
