  1. The supplied router I got from my ISP is meh, but works OK, but its recently the wifi will have several periods a day when it just goes. Every wifi device stops connecting its not just one device and the wifi light flickers on the router. The wifi speed has never been great so Im looking to get a wifi router for around £150/$200 mark. I;ve read a few "best router of 2021" articles but I'm always wary of such things. My main PC is wired in, but my kid's Xbox are wifi. Any suggestions?
  2. I have just transferred my computer from a BeQuest Silent base to a Lian Li Lancool II Mesh and I have a question about fan placement For information I am currently using an air CPU cooler. For intake I have the 3 fans on the front which came with the case. For exhaust, I have the 2 standard config of 2 fans on the top of the case and the one at the rear of the case. The rear exhaust fan and the furthest back top exhaust fan is blowing out quite warm air. However the other exhaust fan, the one near the front of the case, is blowing out cold air, significantly colder. To me it would seem this fan is essentially getting cool air from the intake and blowing it straight back out and potentially starving CPU cooler of some cool air as it is located just in front of the CPU cooler. Do you think it would be better to move this cold exhaust fan? To say somewhere like at the bottom of the case to blow fresh directly on to the GPU? I understand this could generate positive pressure having 4 intake and 2 exhaust but as this case is mostly holes, a lot of air is escaping out naturally too. thanks in advance.
  3. I'm using default compression of 4:1. When testing the microphone levels any EQ or Compression is disabled but the test levels still hardly reach the "good" range
  4. Lol the amount of people I see having a blue yeti pointed at them. Yeah, its pointing the correct way. That was one of the many reviews I watched including the Podmic vs Procaster
  5. Hi, I have the GoXLR Mini and I combined it with the Rode Podmic as I saw many reviews saying it is a great microphone for the cost. Many of the reviews I saw actually had it parted with the Go XLR Mini during the review. With the microphone just an inch or 2 away from my mouth the gain has to be maxed out at 72db before the "Mic Metre" gets even close the the "Good" area and even the fall short. For it to be in the good area I have to have max gain and my mouth pressed against the microphone. Having maxed out gain means it is creating a lot of hiss and picking up the slightest sound in the room such as my PC fans which are running at 40% and I can hardly hear them. I am using the gate however my voice has noticeable hiss, especially noticeable at the start or end of what Im saying. None of the reviews I watched for the Podmic mentioned needing the gain to be so high or maxed out fully maxed and I didnt see any which said a cloud lifter was needed. I'm just looking for advice of what I can do to improve this. Is there a fault anywhere? Is there something wrong with the mic, GoXLR Mini, wiring etc? I
  6. At times I can hear my my mouse movements in my head phones. It sounds like a medium pitched electrical buzz which only happens when I'm moving the mouse I thought it was the terrible shielding on my motherboard as I normally plug my headphones into the back of the computer. I recently got a GoXLR and I thought it would sort that issue out but I can still hear it. Any idea what could be causing it? My mouse is a Bluetooth Logitech MX Master? Could my audio be picking up the radio waves?
  7. I just decided set the RGB colour on the keys to white. But I noticed many of them are rather pink and some a slightly blue and the odd one looking slightly green is this as to expected? Would corsair say this is within range of colours?
  8. Since getting the 6800XT I'm getting the Windows device disconnected/connected sound when I start games. I am also getting game suddenly crashing or my computer resetting while playing certain games. But the Windows connect/disconnect device sound can happen from once to maybe four times when starting a game. Is this normal? Is it some sort of device within the card which is getting enabled / disabled when starting a game? I doubt it is a power issue, here's my basic spec Ryzen 2600X MSI x470 Gaming Carbon Pro 16GB Corsair 3200Mhz RAM AMD RX6800XT Corsair RM750i PSU WD 500GB Nvme Samsun SSD 850 EVO 500GB Seagate 7200RPM 2TB BeQuet Dark Rock Pro 3 Corsair RBG Keyboard Logitech Wireless Mouse 3 120mm Corsair RGB Fans 1 140mm BeQuiet fan 1 120mm BeQuet fan Thanks in advanced.
  9. I've heard one or two reviewers mention it but they seemed to imply it is only auditable when playing games at 140+fps. However Im getting it at all frames, the more frames there are the higher the pitch. Is anyone else experiencing that much coil whine?
  10. Does MSI Afterburner work with AMD cards? I haven't have an AMD card in many many years lol
  11. I was one of the lucky few who managed to get a RX 6800 XT (It did take nearly 2 weeks from purchase for it to arrive) I have noticed the GPU usage isn't smooth at all while playing games. I can understand some fluctuations but it bounces up and down to extremes making the GPU graph look like a sawtooth. For example the readings will be 99%,4%,99%,30%,99%,12%,99%,58%,99%,21%,99% And this is when there's nothing happening on the game screen ie game menus. Is this how its meant to work? As I have noticed a few stutters in the game when which normally aren't there. P.S. I know this is new technology and it will take time for drivers to mature and games may require patching. Thanks for any advice.
  12. I have been looking in to audio interfaces and mixers. I previously posted about getting an audio setup to do a little bit of streaming and when I make the odd YouTube video that I do. I find I spend way too much time getting audio levels correct, mostly because I have to go in and out of Windows menus to do it, and more often than not I usually give up because I've lost all interest once my audio is OK. I have seen the GoXLR which will allow to adjust the PC audio level using slider on the device. Something like this would be ideal for me as I can quickly adjust the audio levels without having to do it through Windows' menus. There are loads of audio mixers out there but Im not sure if they are able to do what I require. Any help would be grateful Thanks
  13. Thanks. I got it installed now. It happened so infrequently and so quickly. Hopefully I may be able to catch it in Process Explorer
  14. I sometimes notice in the task bar, something very quickly load/run and disappear. I notice the animation a new task appearing in the taskbar (ie the window in the task bar growing.) and then it it does the animation of the taskbar window shrinking as the application closes. I usually see an icon but it doesn't display any text when it happens but it happens so quick I don't get time to notice the icon. It's probably just something running to check for an upate I just want to make sure Is there a way I can find out what it was? I've looked at the event log -> Applications but there is nothing is mentioned there. Is there any application monitoring I can enable? Thanks
  15. It sounds the same when the USB cable is plugged in. But I dont think it uses the USB for the audio, just to power the headphones, so its still using the WiFi. I've returned the headphones as faulty. The sound was getting worse and getting quite piercing. I found the manufactures reply very disappointing and felt it was passing the buck that the hearing of a 40 year old man who spent most of the late 90s and early 2000s in very loud night clubs has better hearing than most of the population of the world.
  16. I dont think its worth the risk. I'll look elsewhere I think.
  17. Nearly every review I have read or watched on these basically said they are their new "go to" gaming headset and for £220 ($250US) I would hope they aren't crappy That's why I went with them. Thing is now I don't know whether to just get them replaced or get a refund and look else where.
  18. I posted on here about my audio technica ATH G1WL headset, and the high pitched tone/buzz coming from the left hear, which is especially noticeable when there is no sound playing. I have tried several USB ports and different computers and the tone is the same and is not affected by the headset volume or computer volume. Even if the head phone volume is on mute (volume turned all the way down), the noise is the same tone and volume as when unmuted. The sound seems to be getting more obstructive and Im noticing it during game place. Its been giving me a headache. I contacted audio technica tech support replied back with this. Is it me or does this reply sound like bull? Some how my 40 year old ears can hear better than the average 25 year old? Also would a computer's motherboard pre-amp be used for USB audio device? I've got there I have got wireless headphones which cost 1/10th of what these cost and they done make a high pitched tone.
  19. Hi, I recently bought the Audio Technica ATH-G1WL based on the may great reviews. This is my first pair of 2.4G wireless earphones as previously I just used a cheap Sony bluetooth earphones. When things are "silent" ie. no audio playing there is a low audible buzz coming from the earphones. Its not very loud but notisable that its not silent. If I unplug the USB dongle the earphones go properly silent. I've tried several USB sockets, including ones on my monitor and on USB docks and there's no difference. Is this quiet mid tone buzz/pitch normal for wireless headphoens? I'd understand if it was via an audio jack. The old Sony Bluetooth ones I used never did this. Thanks
  20. What's your thoughts on Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Studio 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface https://www.amazon.co.uk/Focusrite-Scarlett-Studio-Audio-Interface/dp/B07QNZ3XT3?ref_=ast_sto_dp Availability of the items you suggest are quite varied where I am.
  21. My motherboard is a MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon, I think I'm leaning towards the DT 770 and the Sound Blaster G6, if you feel there is a benefit to having the SB G6. I've had issues with the front panel audio ports, I have to keep the volume really low otherwise it overloads the headphones and it just sounds distorted. There are several versions of the DT 770, monitor and studio ones. Which one would be best? thanks
  22. Will the headphones require a dac, or will be better with one?
  23. I'm looking for an audio setup advice. My budget will be about £200-£250. They will be used for general use, gaming, listening to music . I do a little streaming and create the odd YouTube video. I'm looking for enjoyable sound as well as something with a decent microphone. Looking at many gaming headset and I'm not that impressed with the microphone. It may be OK for games but for any YouTube video I want to do, its not great. I currently use a blue Yeti, which was fine for about a year, but suddenly started picking up the slightest background ie, sounds outside the room, and they come out louder than my voice. I've boiled down my options to. Just get a gaming headset and sort out a mic another time (But which gaming headset?) Get a good like a set of Bluetooth noise cancelling earphones, Sony or Bose, and sort out an OK mike another time. See if a decent DAC, Earphone and Microphone are in budget. Thanks in advanced.
  24. I've reinstalled the realtek drivers which improved things a lot. The rear ports are working correctly and somehow the interference on the front is gone. But it seems the front port is overloading the earphones. With the audio set to 10-20% the audio seems fine, any more than that causes severe distortion. Any ideas? Should I just get a half decent?
  25. I've disconnected the front audio ports from the motherboard and plugging back in to ensure its plugged in correctly and it seems it was. I removed the additional USB ports which were right next to the motherboard sockets just in case that was causing any issues but it still remains. I have also tried plugging speakers and earphones in to the lineout jack on the back of the motherboard and noticed only 1 side is working. I've tried a couple or speakers and cables and it seems the left channel doesn't work. im beginning to thing there's a fault with my motherboard, which is was not picked up as I've never used these ports before.
