  1. Again, not really interested in having to fully rebuild the rig myself, even though I know it's more affordable to go with Ryzen. Budget is not an issue, time and willpower to rebuild is, and Ryzen is not offered through Syber. Plus, keeping the old Vapor as a secondary or portable LAN PC is 100% okay with me, as well. Still a decent little rig. Thanks for the help.
  2. I keep the lids off and have made a custom-ish high flow dust filter for both sides. The case itself is pretty s*** design, thermally, but I practically run open-air and everything is fine. GPU and CPU idle at about 33*c and get up to 60-70*c under load, depending. Pretty standard stuff. With the same philosophy on the new Vapor, the temps should be comparable. 3. DOOM Eternal launches on November 22nd, and that's a HUGE deal for me. Being able to stream it on maximum settings (or close to) while still cranking out a massive framerate is something I'd like to do right from launch. From my understanding, 10th gen is their firs 10nm process, but there are numerous confusing and conflicting product SKU's, and plans are currently limited to mobile chips, so desktop SKU's are a ways off and may not be a massive improvement over 9th gen for my scenario...?
  4. I'm looking at (another) Syber Vapor mini-ITX rig. I've got one right now with the above-listed specs. Currently plugged into an Asus VG248Q, and can get decent 100-144fps gameplay in DOOM, etc, on medium-ish settings, but am definitely noticing the bottleneck. With DOOM Eternal on the horizon, I want something that'll do the game justice After tallying up the parts with a different case and new PSU, the price difference is about $200-ish. Also, time is a limiting factor in being able to rebuild my whole rig on my own using the existing case and PSU, so would rather just spend the cash for the "convenience".
  5. Looking into a new mini-ITX rig to replace my current (modified) Syber Vapor (i7-4790 + 16GB DDR3@2133mhz + RTX 2060). I've done some upgrades to the system from stock, but am finding my CPU to be a bottleneck. Yes, I know the new Ryzen stuff is great, but for the sake of the question, please don't suggest a 3700X, etc as these CPU's are not offered through Syber. I'm going pre-built again because the price difference for the parts vs the complete system is very small, and a drop-in replacement PC for my setup would be nice, without having to rebuild the rig from the ground up. My current 256gb SSD is also showing signs of degradation after 4-5 years, so it's about time to just get a whole new rig anyway. I don't plan on overclocking due to thermal constraints, and it's not really necessary for my "workload". The system will be used mostly for 144hz/1080p gaming and streaming, with 1440p being a future option, but would like something VERY future-proof and heavy duty for video rendering as well, without overspending on "enthusiast" grade stuff I'll never use (i.e. overclocking, overkill specs, etc). Planning on pairing the i9 w/ EVGA's RTX 2080 Super BLACK Gaming, an Intel 660p 1TB, and 32GB DDR4 @ 3200mhz. Again, not planning on any overclocking here either for the above reasons. Is there a "better" 9th gen option I should be looking at? Should I wait for 10th gen and see if Intel drops another new chipset on us, or for 9th gen to get cheaper...?
  6. The CouchSurfer Wireless Mechanical Lapdesk - Living Room Gaming/HTPC Endgame!
  7. I've been posting somewhat regularly on r/mechanicalkeyboards and geekhack about this DIY mechanical keyboard lapdesk.project, but figured I'd put it here, too. I handmade some custom hard maple lapdesks for a built-in 60% wireless mechanical keyboard and replaceable mousepad. Perfect for those living room gaming and HTPC setups!
