Looking into a new mini-ITX rig to replace my current (modified) Syber Vapor (i7-4790 + 16GB DDR3@2133mhz + RTX 2060). I've done some upgrades to the system from stock, but am finding my CPU to be a bottleneck. Yes, I know the new Ryzen stuff is great, but for the sake of the question, please don't suggest a 3700X, etc as these CPU's are not offered through Syber. I'm going pre-built again because the price difference for the parts vs the complete system is very small, and a drop-in replacement PC for my setup would be nice, without having to rebuild the rig from the ground up. My current 256gb SSD is also showing signs of degradation after 4-5 years, so it's about time to just get a whole new rig anyway.
I don't plan on overclocking due to thermal constraints, and it's not really necessary for my "workload". The system will be used mostly for 144hz/1080p gaming and streaming, with 1440p being a future option, but would like something VERY future-proof and heavy duty for video rendering as well, without overspending on "enthusiast" grade stuff I'll never use (i.e. overclocking, overkill specs, etc).
Planning on pairing the i9 w/ EVGA's RTX 2080 Super BLACK Gaming, an Intel 660p 1TB, and 32GB DDR4 @ 3200mhz. Again, not planning on any overclocking here either for the above reasons.
Is there a "better" 9th gen option I should be looking at? Should I wait for 10th gen and see if Intel drops another new chipset on us, or for 9th gen to get cheaper...?
