  1. Okay, so I posted on this forum a couple times over the past week or so and I've narrowed down my choices to four laptops. I am incredibly indecisive and I don't know which to choose. Just please tell me which one to pick. The most important factors to me are build quality (I want it to last at least 4-5 years), battery life (doesn't have to be exquisite, just not trash), and other than that, I plan on using it for internet browsing/streaming, some programming, some photoshop, microsoft office, and maybe some light gaming. If you know of any laptops other than the ones below that fit my preferences for under $700, please let me know. Oh and also, cant be to big of a screen I'd like to be able to take it on the go easily, so preferably around 13 inches (not too small either though), and no bigger than around 14 inches. So here are my options in no particular order, just pick one and tell me to buy it please: 1) Dell Inspiron 13 7000 7370 Laptop - (13.3" Touchscreen IPS FHD (1920x1080), 8th Gen Intel Quad-Core i5-8250U, 256GB SSD, 8GB DDR4, Backlit Keyboard, Windows 10) 2) Dell Inspiron 13 5000 5379 2-IN-1 Laptop - 13.3" TouchScreen FHD (1920x1080), 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8550U, 256GB SSD, 8GB DDR4, Backlit, IR Webcam, Windows 10 (Certified Refurbished) 3) ASUS ZenBook 13 Ultra-Slim Laptop, 13.3” Full HD, 8th gen Intel i5-8250U Processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB M.2 SSD, Backlit keyboard, Fingerprint Reader, Windows 10, Grey, UX330UA-AH55 4) ASUS VivoBook F510UA Thin and Lightweight FHD WideView Laptop, 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 128GB SSD+1TB HDD, USB Type-C, ASUS NanoEdge Display, Fingerprint Reader, Windows 10
  2. Have you had personal experience with both of these? And hahaha
  3. Haha, not a problem. I actually probably won't have any time to do this until mid to late June anyway. I'll definitely keep your contact info, though. Also, I'll try and figure out this whole Discord thing. Thanks again! Oh, also about time zones, I'm in Israel, which means if you're in Germany, we're only one hour apart, so our time zones align pretty perfectly!
  4. Ok, so I just made a discord, but I still have no idea how it works. What's your name on discord, so I can add you? (mine is donkeykonky)
  5. Woah! that'd be amazing! I've never used discord and don't really know what it is, but I'd definitely be willing to find out. I'm gonna go try and make an account now. Dude, you're the freaking best, thank you so much!!
  6. What's your reasoning for that one over the Zenbook that I listed? I'll consider spending a bit more, but it's gotta be justified. Also, out of curiosity, I was talking to my brother, who recently got a refurbished MacBook Air for around $800. I didn't look into it much, but he said that I could probably even get one for sheaper. He loves it and says its perfect for all his uses and is pretty fast. I don't think I want one, but I also want to weigh all my options. Can you explain to me why it would or wouldn't be smart for me to consider taking that route? Thanks.
  7. I’m still confused, if you say they’re about the same. Why would you recommend the more expensive one, that has less storage?
  8. So then why do you recommend the Zenbook? If they’re about the same, should I go with the cheaper, Vivobook?
  9. I'm going to need a new laptop for this summer and I'd like it to be able to last at least the next 4-5 years. I've been researching laptops for the last couple weeks and it's literally driving me crazy. I have no idea how to decide what laptop I need. My old laptop was a Macbook Pro, but I think I'm ready to move on from Apple unless someone can convince me to stay with them. I need a laptop that has at least mediocre battery life, but preferably better. I want it around 13 inches, good build quality, and relatively cheap (under $900). I'll be using it for mainly streaming/browsing on the internet, some programming (I don't do any programming now, but I plan on building an app this summer), some photoshop, light gaming, and stuff like microsoft office. Some of the options I was looking at are: - ASUS VivoBook F510UA FHD Laptop, Intel Core i5-8250U, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, USB-C, NanoEdge Display, Fingerprint, Windows 10, Star Gray (F510UA-AH51) (I want the one with HDD and SSD, is this an upgrade that I’d be able to do myself, and if so would it be more wrthwhile/cheaper to do it myself, or should I just buy the pre-upgraded one?) - LG gram Thin and Light Laptop – 13.3" Full HD IPS Display, Intel Core i5 (8th Gen), 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Back-lit Keyboard - White – 13Z980-U.AAW5U1 (This one is a bit on the expensive side for me. Is it worth it though?) - ASUS ZenBook 13 Ultra-Slim Laptop, 13.3” Full HD, 8th gen Intel i5-8250U Processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB M.2 SSD, Backlit keyboard, Fingerprint Reader, Windows 10, Grey, UX330UA-AH55 - Acer Swift??? (I don't know much about this or what model I'd get, but I just saw one on Amazon for a pretty good price and the specs looked pretty good) - Dell Inspiron 13 7000 7370 Laptop - (13.3" Touchscreen IPS FHD (1920x1080), 8th Gen Intel Quad-Core i5-8250U, 256GB SSD, 8GB DDR4, Backlit Keyboard, Windows 10) - ASUS ZenBook 13 UX331UN-WS51T Ultra-Slim Laptop 13.3” FHD WideView Touch display, 8th gen Intel Core i5-8250U Processor, 8GB LPDDR3, 256GB SSD, Nvidia MX150, Windows 10, Backlit keyboard, Fingerprint (This one is a bit above my price range, so I'll probably not get it, unless someone has some really convincing reason) Could you please tell me the pros and cons of what I listed and anything else that might fit into my preferences. Also, if you think that any of what I listed does not match my preferences, could you let me know why? Thank you so much for any help you can give, I just need to make a decision already. I want to be able to make a purchase by the end of the day today.
  10. Yup, that's the plan. Someone showed me some Udemy courses in order to build myself up to the point where I'll be able to use Xamarin. Do you have any other ideas that I should do instead/in addition?
  11. Thanks, I think I'll start with C# so that I'll be able to move on to Xamarin to make an app for all platforms at once.
  12. Thanks for the advice! I'm actually probably going to be switching to android within a year, but for now, I'm stuck with my iPhone. So a couple questions: First of all, right now, I don't have a working computer. I plan on getting a new laptop for the summer that I can use to work on this project. I have been doing tons of research on what laptop I should get, but the more information I find out, the more confused I become. At this point, I have absolutely no idea what laptop I should get. Do you have any recommendations for good powerful laptops that are relatively fast, and have a good battery life, for a relatively low price (under $1000)? I need something that will work good for this project, but also for productivity, online browsing, light gaming, and maybe things like photoshop. It doesn't have to be perfect for all of those things, but the better you know of for that price range, the better it will be. Secondly, this app project will be my first, I want to be able to come out with a good, functioning app. Do you think it makes sense to build it cross-platform for my first ever app or should I stick to a single platform for my first and as I improve, maybe get into that? The thing is, I really do think this app will have potential to really take off and in that case, I want it to be available to as many people as possible. Thanks again for the help, I really appreciate it!
  13. I have an iPhone, but not an Apple computer. I honestly believe this app will be very helpful to me specifically and more than anything else, I just want to be able to prove that I am capable of making it. So I want to be able to use it for sure, even if I’m the only one who gets to use it. There is no easy way to make it work for Apple without owning an Apple computer? Thank you for your response, it was very helpful. :^)
