  1. A developer account is required but it's not hard to get at all. I don't think it would be very hard at all for LMG to make a flash briefing skill.
  2. Hey there! So I have a suggestion for the TechLinked team. Every morning when I wake up I ask my Amazon Alexa to play me my Flash Briefing. It gives me a news update from a few publications I have selected such as CNN and CNET. I would love to be able to listen to the latest TechLinked episode in my Flash Briefing. Basically, you would just have to upload the audio from the episode each time a new one is published. Let me know what you guys think. And does anyone else actually use the Flash Briefing feature?
  3. Couldn't limiting the sale of drones to licensed operators at least make obtaining the drones harder? I'm not saying this is something in favor of, but it's not something I'm completely against. It may be a bit annoying for enthusiasts... but it could be worth it. I think this is getting so much media attention because this type of thing is new. I feel it's important to highlight the risks of new technology. Also, there has to be a reason they haven't taken the drones down yet. It could be that the technology needed is hard to deploy.
  4. A few things I want to add after reading some of the responses: In the United States, the FAA requires anyone flying a drone for commercial purposes to have a FAA Part 107 certificates. To get this, you must be 16 years old and pass a test (which you must pay to take). I wouldn't be surprised if the FAA extended this to anyone flying recreationally as well. Personally, I don't think it would be a huge deal. After all, if you can afford to purchase one of the larger, more high-end drones, you should be able to pay the nominal fee. As for the interpretation of the term "industrial drone" used in this article, I wouldn't be surprised if they are referring to high-end drones such as those made by DJI, but they could also mean more military style drones. I also don't understand why they don't just shoot the drones down. There is technology out there that will jam the droned. I got to see the Army's version of this, a gun shaped mechanism with an antenna at the end. It sends out a signal that forces the drone to land. I'd imagine that Britain has similar technology. Also, why aren't signal jammers installed at all airports? Maybe it messes with the plane's systems, I'm not sure. I'm not exactly sure how this technology works, but you can learn more about it here: https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2018/11/14/this-army-fires-experiment-covers-detection-jamming-drone-kill-chains-and-new-ways-to-shoot-artillery/.
  5. The fact that Apple is promoting this partnership so much makes me wonder what is in store for the HomePod's future. I wouldn't have thought that they would cancel the device, but this makes it hard not to at least consider the possibility. It would still be strange though, as this us just the start of the "smart home revolution". I don't use Apple Music, or any Apple products for that matter, but I'm still happy Amazon is expanding Alexa's functionality. I have an Echo Dot, and even though I don't use it that much, it's great for playing music. Source: https://www.macrumors.com/2018/12/19/more-alexa-speakers-will-support-apple-music/
  6. I wonder what the purpose of this attack was. Because there were numerous drones, and they were of industrial specification, it can't be just a few kids wanting to mess around. Drones seem to be becoming an even greater threat to public safety. Obviously this is something that governments should be taking a closer look at. I'm interested to see if drone regulations are tightened in the coming years. It wouldn't surprise me at all. 7. Definitely a welcome change from Twitter. I can stand this trend of social media platforms moving away from the reverse-chronological timeline. The only platform where I find it acceptable is Facebook. All we need now is the ability to edit tweets. 8. I like the banner, but the logo is way to busy. I prefer the old branding over this. This simply isn't the kind of work I'd expect from a professional graphic designer. Just my opinion though, it couls be what the LTT guys were going for.
  9. You know that you don't need heat spreaders right?
  10. What's your budget? I highly doubt you'll be able to get anything that powerful for a low price.
  11. It should work as long as it fits and your PSU has an available 8-pin connector.
  12. Yeah, it's a pain to go through the process of getting a refund.
  13. This seems to good to be true. I avoid buying computer parts, or anything of value, off of eBay. If you must though, I suggest purchasing from a reputable seller (unlike this one, who has no feedback). Craigslist, the LTT classifieds, and r/hardwareswap are much better options. If you do choose to purchase your RAM from this seller, let us know how it goes.
  14. Nah, forgot to add "Fall" at the end. Thank god for post editing, Twitter should take notes.
  15. I think this is actually a really good move. It's something that every social media company should be doing. I can't imagine it costs much at all to create and I'm sure it will bring in at least some new users. I'd be shocked if they weren't included. I'm sure a somewhat large amount of people from North America would switch from the full version to the lite if this is the case. I would never because I just couldn't sacrifice direct messaging, but anyone who doesn't care about that would certainly prefer an ad-free experience. I hope this goes well for Instagram. It's probably my favorite social media platform and I'd love to see an increase in user growth. Source: https://techcrunch.com/2018/06/27/instagram-lite/
  16. I don't really use Snapchat all that much but I guess it could be pretty cool. Not really sure how well it'll catch on though. Do people really play games in there messaging app? Or, you know, they could place ads in the games too. I just hope they don't pull a Facebook and play ads while I'm trying to message my friends. I honestly can't imagine this taking off, but who knows. Would you guys use the games in Snapchat? Source: https://www.theinformation.com/articles/snap-gaming-platform-coming-this-fall
  17. It looks pretty good to me. I would, however, get a 1TB HDD from Western Digital. That 250GB SSD is going to fill up fast. Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders. So if your ram is too tall, certain CPU coolers may not fit.
  18. Just a quick disclaimer, I don't actually own the exact keyboard you mentioned, but I know a guy who does, and I've used his multiple times. He's never mentioned having any issues with it. I actually have a different BlackWidow (the Ultimate 2016 edition). I've had it for almost two years and it's used pretty much daily. I've never had any issues with it at all. The build quality is great. There is pretty much no flex and the keycaps and switches are durable.
  19. You should wipe your boot drive and the reinstall Windows on that. Use the product key that came with the original version of Windows to activate it. Make sure that you back up your boot drive to another drive so that you don't loose any data. I would however, remove all your other drives from your PC before, while, and after upgrading. Just until you know your system is stable (there's no reason it shouldn't be, just an abundance of caution).
  20. I recommend the Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 but I haven't tried out the others. This keyboard has great build quality, an amazing feeling wrist rest, and beautiful RGB lighting (if you're in to that sort of thing). And, I'm not sure about the others, but the BlackWidow has a braided cable, which is absolutely necessary. As for the switches, I prefer either the greens or the oranges. If you are looking for something clicky sounding, I'd go for the greens. However, if you're looking for a more silent typing experience, I'd go for the oranges. I believe Razer Green switches are most like Cherry MX Blues and the Razer Oranges are most like Cherry MX Browns.
  21. I recommend the Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-02. For only $60, it's an all around great budget case with a decent amount of room for cable management. It supports three 3.5 inch drives, two 2.5 inch drive, and two 5.25 inch drives. Here is a diagram showing the fan mount locations: There is mesh on the removable front panel and under the PSU intake. You can order the case here: https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Carbide-SPEC-02-Tower-Gaming/dp/B00I0MKMG2?th=1
  22. Hey guys! So I am currently a Windows 10 user and I'm considering switching to Linux. I'm really not happy with Windows at all. Right now I'm trying to decide which distro I should use if I choose to make the switch. There are so many options, it's making the decision hard. I was hoping you guys could help me. I'm looking for something that: has a modern/sleek design. is decent for gaming. offers a decent amount of customizability. Also, is there anything I should know before I switch? Thanks!
  23. Not very much for me to add. I haven't seen this posted on many major news outlets so I thought I should post it here. It's kind of interesting. Does this mean we could finally be getting a discrete GPU from Intel? What do you guys think? Here's the tweet from Tom: Source: https://www.gamersnexus.net/news-pc/3326-hw-news-nvidia-gpu-overstock-ram-price-fixing-fines
  24. Is your GPU from NVIDIA or AMD? What's the model number of your monitor?
