  1. Are there any tools like upcoming CTR by 1usmus that work for Zen+ cpu's? I'm hoping to tune my cpu for some better voltage, but don't really know what i'm doing since i've never done this before. The CTR tool looks like it'll be really awesome, but it's only for Zen2 cpu's.
  2. Sweet. Thanks for the replies.
  3. I'm about purchase my first monitor since the 90's when CRT's where all the rage (haha....^^;). I notice that some will have both hdmi and display ports as video input. Do monitors like that have a toggle for which input you're viewing or are users forced to pick one or the other?
  4. Oh cool. That's an awesome link. I'll take a look at it in the morning. Thanks very much.
  5. Because this is going on an office desk and not in a living room (that's why i called it a pseudo home theatre pc). It's my home office work space that i also use for gaming and movie watching. I also can't wait since my cat peed on the desk monitor and killed it (literally just after i posted this). Having to type from a living room tv really sucks. it's super cheep and totally not color accurate.
  6. After seeing the new XG270QG by Viewsonic on JayZ's Two Pennies I've decided to give a high refresh rate monitor a chance (normally just using tv's at 60hz and consoles at 30). Unfortunate for me, I've grown accustomed and spoiled by a good audio system on a computer (thanks to using tv's instead of traditional monitors). Having had a pseudo home theatre pc setup with game consoles and a pc all on the same tv/speaker system has started causing problems as I attempt to replace the now 9 year old tv. I have a modern pc now that can game at over 60fps and want to give it a go, but no pc monitor supports an easy home theatre audio solution. I've since hunted down some quality hdmi switchers, dacs, and a few sound bars to consider as options. The downside to all of these is that speakers with acr-hdmi (like a pass-through) and splitter/switchers don't support more than 60hz signals as an output, but recently had a spark of madness that may or may not work. I'm planing to buy a Yamaha YAS-108 sound bar and make use of it's arc channel (handles 4k at 60hz) to handle a single home console, while the pc's gpu will send audio to the speaker via hdmi (not passing it through) and a video signal to the XG270QG via display port. My question is, will running hdmi and display port out of a gtx1080 cause performance problems in running games or even work in the way I think it will? Has anyone ever tried something like this?
  7. I'm a bit confused about a weird problem i'm having. I recently got a message from discord (when launching it) that it detected Nvidia High Definition Audio as a new audio output. This is strange since as far as I'm aware I've been using it for the 2 months I've had the computer built. It shows up in device manager and in the speaker outputs, but it only shows up in windows devices when discord detects it (disappearing once the computer shuts down or restarts). I've done fresh installs of the drivers and they are all up to date, but windows 10 refuses to display it in the device listings. Does anyone have a clue about how to fix this?
  8. Ok, so something weird just happened. My video cut out for a moment (as per usual with my problem) and when it returned I got a discord notification saying a new audio output was detected and if I wanted to switch to it. I've had this happen before and always said no, but I decided to say yes this time to see what would happen. Apparently Nvidia High Defonition Audio is what was being detected by discord and when checking my audio devices it was displaying it alongside my speakers and headphones (strange since my speakers are listed as nvidia hydefonition audio being passed through my tv to the speakers). I then performed a restart (since I decided to check for windows updates and had a few for .net framework and something else). Upon finishing the restart my audio devices no longer list Nvidia Hydefonition Audio as it had prior to the video cutting out. Could I have a driver problem? Also, I decided to check the Event Viewer to see what popped up for the time of the video feed cutting out and I got the same error report I have been seeing for a while (but wasn't sure was related). What are your thoughts on these four error reports? When ever this type of event occurs I always get 4 of the same error and it seems to be the same error, but related to 4 different parts of the system. 9. I've actually installed windows 4 times on this computer. Not sure if another installation or reset would do any good. I also don't want to burn out my ssd. Not sure how much it can take, even as a boot drive (only 250gb).
  10. I've been having a strange problem ever since I built my computer a few months ago. It only occurred once or twice in the first month, but has proceeded to happen more frequently as time goes on. My audio and video will spuraticly cut out and return. This always leaves the computer in a non-functioning state as video will always lag in slow motion once this has occurred and the audio never restores itself. A system restart used to fix the problem (originally only happening if booting from a shut down, hibernation, or sleep mode), but now it happens even when a restart is performed. A good sign that the system is about to have an audio/video problem is when the audio from an application become distorted and begins to crackle or pop. I've had the video cut out from desktop shortly after boot so I'm certain it's not a problem specific to certain applications (unless desktop is classified as an application). I've performed a system maintenance (using command prompt line: chkdsk /f /r /x) to make sure I had no corrupt windows files and that seems to act as a temporary fix, but temporary isn't good enough when I need this computer for work and personal projects. I've also inspected all connections to the hardware components and they are all tight and without hard kinks in the cables. I've spent about a month looking up solutions on different search engines and found little to nothing outside of the basic, "delete old vga drivers and reinstall the latest" (which I did) or "your graphic's card is bad" when I know the card to actually be perfectly fine (nothing to suggest hardware failure and more to suggest system problems). I've been told to use Event Viewer to find occurring problems, but I have no idea what i'm looking for or how to interpret the information presented by it (despite finding a good video introducing the program). I'm at my wits end with this since i'm 60+ miles from the nearest repair shop (i live in the middle of no where) and not even sure if I could find one reliable enough to not scam me like so many auto mechanics do. I could really use help trying to figure out my computer's problem and ways to fix it. My Specs OS: Windows 10 64bit CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 GPU: Nividia GTX 1080 (founders card) Ram: G.Skill Trident Z RGB, 8gb*2 Motherboard: ROG Strix B450-i
  11. I've recently built a new computer and my first with multiple drives. I'd like to set up the Desktop to be handled by my D drive instead of my C (C being a small ssd boot drive). I tend to dump a lot of folders and files i used for work onto the desktop as I need them (which I'd expect to gradually wear down the ssd faster than usual). I've found videos on how to redirect User folders like Documents and Downloads, but I've been warned against doing this for Desktop while plenty of youtube tutorials seem to treat it as if it's no big deal. Is there any risk I should be aware of if I change my Desktop location to my D drive?
  12. I mostly thought about it after seeing this guy's video (video below). In part of it he removed the IHS and talked about how (i think on the CPU chip) if the thermal paste is so old it's dried up to non-effectiveness then it is the main culprit behind most systems running the fans extra hard in an effort to combat the overheating). My system has never been opened once since getting it in 2006 so i know any and all thermal paste is just gone to hell and i'm sure there's dust in there (although not as bad as most since i have been using compressed air on all vents regularly). I'm mostly just trying to look over all the different things I might need to do to the system when I open it in january for a deep cleaning and maintenance check. - video, with time stamp -
  13. I'm looking into performing some much needed maintenance on an old ps3 and thinking it might be worth examining the cpu and other chips beneath their IHS'. I've never done this kind of thing before and in doing some research hear that you need some sort of silicon or other substance to reapply the IHS to the chips. I'm curious if there are any specific silicon gels or other substances I should be looking into for this or even some instructions on how to reaply an IHS since all tutorials i'm finding only cover removal of the IHS. (pic of old silicon outline from a video tutorial, for reference)
  14. hmmm... food for thought. thanks for all the input.
  15. Out of curiosity, what do you think of this in place of your two unit combo? I was looking around to see what other audio extractors there were on the market and came across this interesting combo unit. Would definitely be cheaper and more space efficient than buying two units. Seems like it would be a good alternative method. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K7BZ1XC/?coliid=I58JVQRRHJFHW&colid=2DIKXB5PT3BTM&psc=0
