  1. Hello. I am upgrading my pc. I hav bought the Ryzen 5 1600 and the Taichi x370 MOBO. But i need ram! I have seen online some places that the difference between 2600 and 3200 is very small when it comes down to gaming. Does this hold true to this day? Also! I am a complete computer idiot, so pretty please with sugar on top, show me the ram to buy and explain why. I want no troubles installing and running it, but I would also want something that will be sufficient for the next 5 years or so. No OC'ing No tweaking Just plain and simple give me the answer and you have my thanks. Good day to you. :-)
  2. Thx. I am not going to overclock, and i do not necessarily need the best. Just what will be good and run without problems for the next 5+ years.
  3. Hello. I have been looking around and reading up, but it goes beyond my comprehension which ram kit I should choose for my upcoming pc upgrade. I have upgraded to an GTX 1060 6gb graphics card already, and I have bought the Taichi x370 motherboard and also the Ryzen 5 1600 processor to go with it. This is the first time ever i upgrade instead of buying a new assembled pc, and I have spend countless hours reading up on hardware in order to make good decision on what to buy. I know fast ram is good with the Ryzen processor, but have also read that too fast ram will actually run a little slower. I don't know what to think, but i will say that i don't plan to overclock so I am looking for the best out-of-the-box solution. In short: - Which 2x8 gb ram kit will be best for my setup and why? Bonus question :-) - Will the 2x8 kit be sufficient during the next 5-7 years or so? If not, will i save money by buying a 2x16 gb kit now or just buy the 2x8 now and hope for cheaper ram in the future?
  4. Great! Thank you. This was very helpful. I feel capable of doing the upgrade now. :-)
  5. Thanks! I now understand the ram part. Still a little unsure about the BIOS. Do i have to download the new BIOS before installing the new motherboard and then install said BIOS somehow, or do i get an option to install latest BIOS when i boot up for the first time? If the latter is correct, do i have to install BIOS with the disc included in the MOBO package?
  6. Thank you for the advice. There is something i still don't understand. If I install all the drivers from Asrock's website, does that mean that the mobo's BIOS is up to date? Also, when i google ram i see a lot of different model names like corsair vengeance. On the QVL it only says corsair, and then some things in the other colums that i don't understand. Can you enlighten me, or recommend a ram kit that is very good and not totally overpriced?
  7. Thank you for the help so far guys. I'm still not sure about the ram though. When i google ram they have model names, but i see no such names on the qvl. Can you help me choose the best ram on the qvl, that is not totally overpriced? Also, when i have installed the latest drivers from asrock's website, is the bios then up to date?
  8. Hello! I started upgrading my PC approx November last year. At the beginning i knew some of the names of the different hardware inside the case, and absolutely nothing else about PC-building. By this time i have upgraded my old hard-disk to an SSD, and switched my old GTX 660 out with an GTX 1060 6gb. I have bought the Ryzen 5 1600 and the ASRock Taichi x370. These i haven't installed yet, because i still need new ram for the motherboard. That leads me to my first question: 1. What ram is best for the new MOBO, and should 2x8 gb be enough for the next 5 years or so? (I don't plan to overclock, and you should also know that i don't understand the QVL). I also need help with how to install all of this. I have been reading a lot on the net and think that the following plan is a safe bet (in the order written): - Save important personal files, and new hardware drivers on an external harddisk. - Physically install hardware in case - At first boot spam F12, and choose to boot from USB. - Restart and install windows. - Install new drivers. - Game whenever possible. Which leads me to my second question: 2. Is there anything, and I mean anything at all, that i am missing here? Please write a thorough description of how to install the new hardware safely and correctly, with drivers and software and everything. Feel free to assume that i am a complete idiot when it comes to computers, and therefore wouldn't benefit from anything remotely resembling a vague explanation. Thank you kindly in advance. :-)
