  1. I recently delidded my 8700k and while it was effective (4.9ghz @ 1.31v would hit 100c previously, now tops out at 82c with door closed. Front door open it hits about 75c) I'm still not happy with the temps I'm getting using the R6 stock 3 fans and a Noctua NH-D15. I was thinking of getting a Noctua 140mm NF-A14 PWM and using it as my rear exhaust, and moving the stock Fractal fan from there to become a bottom intake. Does anyone have an estimate of what kind of improvements I could see with this setup, or a better option?
  2. That's what I am considering, I just don't know if sharpie will black it out completely or if tape will look like garbage. Was hoping to see some solutions before I buy one.
  3. I am going to put this motherboard in my upcoming build as it's the best I've found that has both front and rear USB-C 3.1 (gen 2) support but I am reading a lot of complaints about the red LED light near the debug and it not being possible to disable this light. I dislike lighting in my computer, I switch everything off when possible - has anyone been able to disable this or able to share a photo of how it looks with electrical tape? Just need to put my concerns at ease that it won't look like garbage or super distracting. Thanks
  4. How much did they cost? I had a look and the Cable Mod kit from PCCG was going to be $139 or something which is far too much for me to spend on cables I am afraid haha. Maybe in the future...
  5. A custom loop would break the budget, this will already be my most expensive and powerful build yet (last was i5 4670k/GTX 970 a few years ago), maybe I will save water cooling for my next build.
  6. Wow that's beautiful man. I could never build something to that standard. What kind of overhead would his service cost though? While yes, this is an expensive build, I do have a firm budget ($4000USD/$5000ish AUD)
  7. I will take a look but I enjoy building my own PC His channel looks like he has some crazy builds Taking a look at igpu now - pretty interesting, I'd never heard of this before.
  8. 120hz and IPS is a requirement, I don't mind paying $700 extra for them. The Fractal Design Define R6 has a focus on sound proofing, plus the two extra features I mentioned (front USB 3.1 Gen2 A+C ports, vertical GPU mount) I'm not even considering a different case. 32gb upgrade will happen in 6-12 months, it's just too expensive to include initially. I will get by with 16gb until then. Also guys, sorry one thing I forgot to mention I am not very concerned with RGB, 99% of the time I will have RGB turned off (currently I don't even have my power light switched on, I just find it distracting). I would like to have the option though, basically for times when I am too lazy to turn on a lamp? lol
  9. Even though they are fairly thin, I know I would get annoyed with the bezels. I don't mind paying extra, and I feel 120hz is not a huge sacrifice from 144hz. Also I am in Australia, those cost $1000aud each compared to $2000aud for the ultrawide (although I plan to snatch it on special for $1600ish)
  10. Hi everyone, just looking to get some feedback on this planned build - I may swap the CPU for an 8086k depending on price/performance, but I am planning to order in 1-2 months and will miss the boat on 11x series GPU. I may decide to upgrade this 1080 ti to the 1180 ti when it is released in a year or so. The main use will be gaming (3440x1440p 120hz), with video editing coming in second. I will be overclocking (still deciding if I want to delid and go for 5ghz, otherwise I'll likely be happy at 4.7-4.8ghz). I am not overly invested in aesthetics but I am going for a black and white theme - I am considering changing the fans on the Noctua but need to find out if there would be any difference in performance. 1tb SSD is because the cost difference from 500gb isn't a whole lot and it will save some storage management as games get bigger and bigger. It will also allow me to edit from this drive. The Fractal Define R6 is receiving an upgrade in the coming months with a replacement front panel with USB 3.1 Gen2 A and C ports - this is partly why I have chosen the Taichi for the motherboard, as it comes with support for this. I will also be making use of the Flex VRC-25 to install the GPU vertically which makes so much more sense than the traditional orientation. If anyone has any feedback at all I'd love to hear it, hoping to have everything figured out by the time I am ready to order. Also if anyone has tips on cable mods/management to fit the B&W theme (even if it's just telling me which cables and stuff I can replace) it would be awesome. 11. Hi everyone, I can't find any info on whether or not there is an increase in noise levels when using the tempered glass panel on the Define R6 and if so how significant is it. Wondering if anyone can shed some light on the matter?
