Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone had information on verified / certified / approved Display Port 1.4a cables? I have been reading around and this link (just for example) talks about Display Port 1.4...specifically 1.4a. I was wondering if the physical cable has anything to do with the minor 1.4a change OR is it all the port on the hardware.
What about DisplayPort 1.4a?
DisplayPort 1.4a was ratified in April 2018 and is a minor alteration of the DisplayPort 1.4 standard that did nothing to improve its bandwidth or feature support for video or audio streams. The only change is the implementation of DSC 1.2a, which improves upon DSC 1.1 and 1.2 with better support for HDR in the compression algorithm and improves color support.
Reason why this topic has come up is because I am transitioning from a Nvidia 2080 TI (which I LOVE my USB-C connection..sad it's gone.) to Nvidia 4090 OC (Zotac GAMING AMP Extreme AIRO GeForce RTX 4090). All the ports are DisplayPort 1.4a Outputs.
So...is it the cable or the ports that make the HDR improvement?
